NCSG IV - The Return of the Mummy!

As for 1NE on the plainshill for an early production boost? No IMO. We lose 2 floods (if my fog gazing is correct) and have no way of knowing what is to the N in fog. Would rather chop the hill and mine it for wonder production.

Yup! 1NW would be too dicey. :crazyeye:

With regards to moving the warrior I'd move him 1N onto the clear grassland hill. It would still give us a fairly good view to the East of the capital and allow us to pop the hut after choosing where to settle.

Ok guys the OP has been edited to include the save and the roster!

We can still hold on if you want to discuss the player setup but I think some people (Groogaroo) want to crack on with this one! And who can blame them?!

Let the games begin!

Lots of !!!!!!!!

Okay I won't be playing the first set until the morning its late over here in the U.K!

But I've moved the warrior on to the hill just incase there's anything to be discussed.

Okay I think that settles it? 1E gives us another grassland hill (minable straight away) and more floodplains. Like I said I'm not playing for a little while yet so unless I hear otherwise I'll settle 1 east.

There will probably be alot more to decide after the first 20 Turns.

I'm curious what patch level you guys are running... we just finished Lincoln with 3.17... but Solver/Dresden's patch takes care of a lot of nagging issues... I'd prefer to use Solver/Dresden's patch if everyone is ok with that.

Not using solvers myself. If everybody else likes it or says its ok then I'm ok with it.

I like 1E however maybe we should hold off on settling till everyone agrees or has an input?

A note about the forests in the BFC if we settle 1E. The floods give us 3:yuck: (I think) so even though we want to get some early wonders, we need to consider not chopping all of them! Health will be an issue on this map due to the extra floods.

Okay, will wait for a bit.

Must admit I'm just using normal 3.17 havn't even checked out the changes Solver/Dresden's patch, just lazy I guess! I don't patching as long as its okay with everyone else.

1E looks good to me, also using Solvers patch, but probably not the very latest version, so I will check into that.

:hmm:

I'm actually going away for a few days this evening, so I'll either have to play in the next hour or so or leave the honour of getting us started to the next player. :(

If you guys still want to wait for input no problem, just skip me or slot me back into the roster where ever.

Decided on a quick 20 turns to get the game started:

0:
Keep things legit and move Warrior 1N as Groogaroo didn't post the save after that.
Settle 1E as discussed:
Civ4ScreenShot0000.jpg

As you can see, the hut pops for 96 gold.

Go with Worker + AH.

6:
Pop another hut.....
Civ4ScreenShot0001.jpg

Much love to the RNG...
:wallbash::mad::mad::rolleyes::sad::hmm::gripe: :twitch:
:dubious:

IBT: Kill one of the warriors. Then die.

11:
Cyrus' scout pops by, he came from SE.
Civ4ScreenShot0002-1.jpg

Hit enter 9 more times

14:
Someone learns either Meditation or Poly and founds Confucianism.

18:
AH -> Mining.

Worker due in 3.

This is officially the worst SG turnset of all time..

My computer is down right now and I'll probably have to reinstall Windows. I have some time tomorrow, so I think I can fix it but I might not be able to play my turns. So if it takes me 24 hours to post "got it", don't wait just skip.

The direct link to the thread with the Changelog is here:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=287712

Grumbler built a pretty nice installer for it that allows you to select whether you install as the default behavior, or as a mod. I run it as a mod so I can participate in SGs like this.

Good news, my computer works; I'm installing civ soon.

Hmmm. RNG blows!

We need to get that next warrior out ASAP to scout the land! Maybe slow growth for a faster warrior?

Cyrus is a tough one. He's a strong AI usually in my experience.

Yeah, I think we should aim for Monotheism. We'll get masonry along the way for TGW and then we also have a religion.

Great Prophet:

Meditation
Polytheism
Priesthood
Monotheism
Theology
Divine Right
Mysticism
Masonry (Warlords patch & BTS)
Code of Laws
Civil Service
Monarchy
Literature
Music
Writing
Philosophy
Printing Press
Drama
Aesthetics (BTS)
Alphabet
Paper
Education
Liberalism
Calendar
Masonry (Vanilla & unpatched Warlords)
Animal Husbandry
Construction
Future Tech

This is the list of bulb preferences for a GP. It runs most favored at the top to least favored at the bottom.

Obviously bulbing requires all the pre req techs.

I guess we want to bulb Theo at some point for the AP and to found a religion (we might already have founded one by then I guess).

The pre reqs for Theo are writing and Mono (I think).

So..... Anyone got a good tech stratagie?!

So Mining> Myst/Masonary> BW/Pot> religious techs> writing? Sorry this is so inconclusive. Maybe I sould go and play a test game.

I just can't get my head around it at the moment. I guess we want to complete our worker techs and get writing after masonary. Myst would be nice soon so we can get those GPP rolling in.

Remember we probably want to pop a great spy before we get a GProth. At least two GSpys would be nice in the early game (settle and Scotland Yard).

Oh yer scrap my idea of slowing growth (it will slow down subsiquent builds).

Suggest farming the flood next to the unforested grassland hill first so we can mine the hill ASAP for the GW race.

Also we're pretty far north (can see ice at the top of the screen I think) so explore W/S/E as a higher priority. Lets find stone and Horses!!

Apart form the GW I reckon we could try for the Mids with some whipping overflow and some select chopping. If we do go this route getting a good unit producing city up soon is a must.

Heres the roster

Groogaroo
schwartz - just played
Krick19 - up now
S.ilver - on deck
grandad1982
GatlingGun
Bleys

Oh, my bad I didn't realize I was up, I'll play my turns soon. On techs, I think it really depends on whether we want to get Monotheism, or Theocracy for the religion. (Or a different one)

I just played a test game. Different land and map etc.

I managed to get 2 more cities, The Great Wall, The Mids, ToA and bulbed Theo by around 250BC or something. Had a rubbish army though and my economy sucked.

I was lucky as I had stone and Horses nearby. Also my warrior didn't die.

This is the tech route I went. Sadly I forgot to write it down so may be wrong and kind of defeats the point of the test game!!!!!! After mining I went Masonry> Myst (was getting ready to set up my second city)> Bronze> Pot> (finsihed TGW around this time I think as with stone and an overflow+chop it sailed in) Hunting> Archery (AIs were getting diffcult as lots of different religions were being founded and adopted)> Med> Poly>(Mids?) Priest (Saladin got the orical and took CoL I assume to found a religion)> Writing> Mono> Theo (bulbed).

I didn't get a GSpy as I finished the mids before it popped and got a GE which I used to build the ToA (should have kept for AP).

Man why didn't I make some notes?!

@Krick19. Don't worry about the roster and timing to much! Just play when you can as no one else posted a got it!

I think Masonry>Myst will be good, or possible Masonry>BW. Anyways it's a little thing, so it doesn't matter too much.
