Need a book recommendation

Recently been very interested in earth formation from a geological standpoint, the hadeon period, the moon creation, etc.

Been looking around in the kindle market for a good book but between the 200-300$ price tag for university books are there any general books that you guys are aware of that would be worth a good read?

What about life formations from the small bacteria on earth, or just the general formation of the crust and tectonic plates that we live with today?

Any suggestions?
 
Earth: An Intimate History by Richard Fortey

Origins: The Evolution of Continents, Oceans and Life by Ron Redfen

Reading the Rocks: The Autobiography of the Earth by Marcia Bjornerud

Life: A Natural History of the First Four Billion Years of Life on Earth by Richard Fortey

These are all good introductions for the layman, and non-textbook prices.

That's a nice collection of half-truths, delusions and lies you have there.
