I'm creating this scenario with some random civs in it, but I can't find all the facts I need to fill in the civilization page in the editor. I just found out that there's a resource library here (d'oh) which I will be checking out, but if anyone knows the answers in my questions in the meanwhile, I'd appreciate your help. Things in red are things that I'm unsure about or need help with.

Rome
I added some more cities, otherwise it's pretty much the same as the standard settings.

Egypt

It seems like someone held himself in high regard since all the cities are called Alexandria. This of course creates problems for this game since there can't be multiple cities with the same name. So I had to make up my own names for the cities that were called just Alexandria. But it would be prettier if the names were more Greek, or whatever language these names are in. Does anyone here speak ancient languages? What would better names be? Maybe something like this?:
Alexandria Ghaznum
Alexandria Merviana
Alexandria ad Indus

Alexandria Golashkerdum

Modern day Tibetans are extremely pacifistic, but earlier on they were quite warful, so I don't know what to set their aggression level on. Right now I made a compromise and set it at 2. Does anyone have opinions about this?

Since I've used several differents sources for the Tibetans, all the city and leader names have different transcriptions of Tibetan, which is quite inconsistent. Is there any expert on Tibet on this forum who could help sort things out?

Tashilumpo

Most of these cities are Manchurian because I couldn't find very detailed Jin maps, but Jin and Manchuria are pretty much the same thing anyway.

One of the maps lists Tashilumpo as one of the Manchurian cities. However, Tashilumpo is the name of a monastery and not a city, right? So, WTF?

According to one map, San Sebastiano is the older name of Suchumi/Tskhumi, so I used the older name. It also lists Alexandershilf, Ekaterinenfeld and Marienfeld, which don't sound very Georgian. What could the native or modern names of these cities be?

Then I wonder if the city of Seti could be the same as Mestia/Becho? They're located in the same place on the different maps, so it's quite suspicious.

Another suspicion I have is that Artaani would be the same thing as Ardahan. Does anyone know about these things?

The other cities that I've marked I'm not sure about if I've spelled them correctly because the map I used had really crappy resolution.

Then some cities have different transcriptions than others. If anyone knows about Georgian, I would be immensily thankful for help with sorting things out.

This is the closest thing to military leaders that I could find. According to an English Wikipedia article, they lead a rebellion against the Norwegian colonists. But according to the Swedish article, it was just a couple of Sámis who had a quarrel with some Norwegians about the Norwegians selling alcohol, which escalated into murder. Isn't there any wars or anything in the older history of the Sámi that anyone knows anything about? Also, is there any great chief in the Sámi history that I could have as the leader, instead of the Sámi council president Ole Henrik Magga?

Unused civs: Russia, France. (These will not be used at all.)

Many Scientifc Leaders are actually important persons in the given civ's religion or culture, and not science. If anyone knows other persons that would better for any of my civs (preferrably ones that lived during the same dynasties/time periods as the given civ).

If anyone thinks that any of the other settings I've posted should be changed to something else, please let me know.

I really need more science and military leaders. Any help?

Science leaders: Christian Doppler, Erwin Schrodinger, Gregor Mendel, Kurt Godel, Sigmund Freud

Archduke Ferdinand (Ferdinand I) should be a military leader. Leopold II, Francis II...Maybe Franz Ferdinand, though his real claim to fame was getting assasinated. Maria Therese would also be good...I'd actually like to see her as a leaderhead, since there aren't that many female LHs.

How about an Austrian Landwehr? We could use more WWI-era land units.

Interesting! I've been looking for a Sami city list. What are you using as a UU?

When it comes to the Inuits, I'm focusing on the ones in Greenland, rather than the ones in North America or Russia. I know of enough Greenlandish cities, but theres almost no information about any kinds of leaders. The only names I could find was Mitiarjuk Attasie Nappaaluk who wrote the first book in their language, so she would fit for a science leader; Hans Egedes who brought Christianity or something to Greenland, so he would be a very farfetched science leader; and Jonathan Motzfeld who was the prime minister of Greenland, so he could be the leader of the civ. But I would want to have only Inuits as any kind of leaders, so Hans Egedes and Jonathan Motzfeld would have to go. So I have no civ leader name, only one science leader, and no military leaders. The Inuits did fight wars, so there must've been some chiefs and generals and whatever that could be used, but I can't find any information. Does anyone know anything that could be helpful?

Let me think on this one. You might want to check out my mod in progress, "The Great Land", which deals with Alaskan history (Greenlandic Inuit are not quite the same as Alaskan Inupiat, I know, but I can go check some of my sources).

Knud Rasmussen should be one of your scientific leaders. For military leaders, there was a shaman, Qitdlarssuaq, who led a migration of his people from northern Canada to Greenland. Greenland claims Hans Egede as their own, and the modern Greenlandic population is mixed Danish and Inuit, so I would just go ahead and use them.

Then I'd like to replace Zululand with some other African nation, preferrably Benin or Songhai. But I can find only a handful city names. Does anyone have detailed maps of either one of these nations?
Hmm, at one point I made city lists for both Benin and Songhai, but I'm not sure I can find them. I believe there's an African mod posted that probably has these civs and more. A few more African empires that come to mind are Ethiopia, Ghana, and the Swahili city-states. Maybe this will help: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:African-civilizations-map-pre-colonial.svg

As to South Asia (India), you're using the Ghandi LH. There are quite a few other good alternatives that would work for Chandragupta. For example, R8XFT has made many Indian LHs, including a version of Asoka (Chandragupta's grandson). His are all single-era. Shirou also made a very nice version of Asoka that has all four eras. Both of them have made female Indian LHs as well. There are others, such as the Harappan, Kushan, Tibetan, etc. by CivArmy. It's worth looking around to find something different than the Firaxis basics.

Tibet's Unique Unit should be the Khampa Horseman.

For Tang scientific leaders, any great literati figure could do.

Here are some figures who contributed to the sciences:
Yi Xing - astronomer
Yang Wulian - invented some of the world's earliest automatons
Zhen Qian - medical science
Sun Simiao - medical science
Pei Ju - cartographer
Jia Dan - cartographer

For information on Benin, Songhai, Mali, or other African civs, look at the scenario linked to in my sig.

By the way, I think it's a bit contentious to conflate "Israeli" with "Jewish", even in antiquity.

Wouldn't Einstein be a good german scientific leader?

I take it you don't plan on using the Immortals?

Oh, duh. I forgot. Of course the Persians should have immortals.

Ah, thankyous. :) I added some of these suggestions.

Interesting! I've been looking for a Sami city list. What are you using as a UU?

The largest part of the list I got from Wikipedia where I found a list of cities that have important Sámi things in them. Then I added the Sámi names of some of the major cities in Lapland. But the list is still a little too short. Hmm, I must remember to catch the Sámi news on TV; when they show the weather report there's lots of cities on the map. Maybe I can find a little more to add. As for the UU, I have no idea yet. I'll be updating the first post when I have worked things out...

Let me think on this one. You might want to check out my mod in progress, "The Great Land", which deals with Alaskan history (Greenlandic Inuit are not quite the same as Alaskan Inupiat, I know, but I can go check some of my sources).

Oh, your working on them as well? Great! Where's your mod?

EDIT: Nevermind, I found it. Would it be okay if I just stole your Inupiat civ right off? I'll add you to the credits list of course.

Oh, I was mainly thinking about the historic Greenlandics, like before the 1500s or something. But I guess I have to do with whatever I can find.

Hmm, at one point I made city lists for both Benin and Songhai, but I'm not sure I can find them. I believe there's an African mod posted that probably has these civs and more. Ah, I'll be searching for those mods then. Thx!

Hmm, I've been hesitant to add other LHs because I'm not quite sure how to do it. I've only just learned how to change the terrain graphics. I'll have to think about this.

OK, thanks! :)

EDIT: Is it really 146 MB?!! I can't download that much. :(

By the way, I think it's a bit contentious to conflate "Israeli" with "Jewish", even in antiquity.

Oh, I had a hunch someone might protest against this, even though I don't completely understand why. I just thought it would be cool if the military advisor said things like "The Jews have captured <insert city name here>!".

Wouldn't Einstein be a good german scientific leader?
Huh, I don't have Germans here.

Post the question in a new thread. That's the best way to get help / advice from those who have done it. They may even be able to point out a thread where someone has already written a clear guide.

What was I looking at when I said that...
Ah well, I probably just thought I saw something else!

Sure, that's fine with me. Just keep in mind that the Inupiat in my mod are based in Alaska (spilling over somewhat into northwestern Canada). There are no Greenlandic names there; the language in Greenland isn't even intelligible to speakers of Inupiaq.

Yeah, I'm ditching Greenland because there is no info about it. Thanks for the Inupiat! :)

Definitely a much better way to go.

All right, since everyone thinks so, I'll change it.

Your city list for Tang seems a bit odd.

The Tang never had direct control over Afghan regions and relations were mostly just trade-related. P'yongyang was under the control of Goguryeo and then fell to Silla; the Tang presence on the peninsula was brief and effectively driven out. If you need cities, there's no issue with including some names from previous dynasties since many of these cities have been inhabited for centuries by the time the Tang arose to power.

Traditionally, there were twelve (12) tribes of Israel.
One (1) of these was Judah.

After Solomon, we're told there was a split:
The North Kingdom, known as "Israel," and
the South Kingdom, known as "Judah."
The Assyrians apparently did away with the North Kingdom and their ten tribes (ethnic cleansing by relocation worked pretty well for them evidently), whereas the Judeans captured by the Babylonians eventually got to return to the Levant under the Persians. These Judeans ended up being known by the contraction "Jews."

So historically (traditionally) speaking, "Jews" and "Israelites" aren't equivalent, never mind religion! :)

Oh, I just took what was indicated in a book I have. I'll recheck what it really said...

Oh, that's why? Well, I've been using the pre-split state or somethin'.
