Hey guys sorry to bug you so much, but the more i play this game the more i learn, and the more questions pop up. I was just wondering a few things, mostly about resources

1. When you build Iron Works, does the city which builds it need coal or iron to be within its borders to get the +50% production, or can it be from another city which is connected to the one building the IW.

2. Same thing when building a supermarket or grocer etc etc, which all say if you have "this resource", you get +1 health or whatever. Does "this resource" have to be within its borders or can it be from another city wwhich passes it to the rest of your country.

3. Finally i don't understand the mechanics or benefits from trade routes. No trade routes? etc

Anyways i hope this makes sense, im really trying to get better, (finally won on Warlord by a lot :)

To 1 and 2, if you have access to the resource in any way, you get the bonuses.

About 3, I don't know where to start. Trade routes can appear with another person if you have an open borders treaty with them. The amount of money they give you is related to a bunch of factors, such as distance, city size, same/different continent, sustained peace, certain buildings (harbor, customs house), etc. The most profitable trade routes often come from large, distant cities, so watch out for that if you like mercantillism (of course, you can still have trade routes with a vassal under mercantillism).
