Neo Nes : Age Of Greatness

Orders sent!

Guangdong Camp

“Hurry! Bring more hot water, QUICK!”

Tian Bai dodged out of the tent quickly, running toward the the many fires along the river which are used for boiling the water. The water was used for many things. Tea for the commander, bathing for the higher ranked officials, but perhaps most importantly, medicine for treating the injured. Tian Bai was momentarily relieved of the pain of caring for the assorted injuries suffered by the soldiers. The sight inside the tent was a gruesome one. A missing limb here, guts spilling there… the list seemed like it would never end.

Some would say that Tian Bai is a coward for not fighting on the front line, but how can he, considering his lack of strength and courage to kill? Not everyone who wished to serve their nation is capable of fighting, as Tian Bai found out on the first day of recruitment camp training. Fortunately (at least that’s what he thought at the time) for Tian Bai, many hours of pleading landed him a spot in the infirmaries and allowed him to still make a difference for the war effort.

When Tian Bai returned to the tent, the surgeon took the water from his hands and pointed him to another tent.

“There are a new batch of soldiers injured in that tent there, son. Go see if they can be helped, even though we’re short on supplies. Do what you can for them.”

Already Tian Bai had a sinking feeling in his stomach. They were well short on herbs or powders traditionally used to stop bleeding. What can a simple apprentice like him do for those poor souls? By this stage, however, Tian Bai had gotten used to such scenes. You save the ones you can, and move on from the rest.

“I understand, master, I’ll go right away now.” Tian Bai bowed quickly and headed toward the supply tents first. There should still be some sleep inducing herbs left in there. It was the most he could do to let them go in peace and without pain.

I just dont have time today or yesterday to send orders, so just pool all my Eco points into researching to Tech 2. Sorry.

Episode II : Fall of Great Civilizations
1486

EXPLORATION : EUROPE
Soon after the discoveries of territory very close to europe by the roman republic, others followed. With the reconquista complete, the people of Morocco withdrew its armies back into africa and some of the population that wished not to live in christian lands. They would go west and settle in the coast of Africa. The Romans placed funds on its colonial and clerical investments, building churches and missions further southwards. But by far, the most important discovery and stablishment was done by the spanish. Three missions were sent, one was never heard from again, the second made it to a new foreign land. Thinking they had made it to India, they called it Spanish Indies. Here a small line of forts and missions were set up. The third mission collapsed on its own due to the insecurities of government funding. The money was expected to come from income revenue from newly conquered lands from morocco, but it was not substantial enough. The exploration and colonization ships instead went to a more familiar territory and settled across the canary islands in africa.
The news ran all over europe, and several leaders listened to these news very carefully. There might be a wave of exporation and colonisation, but it might be wiser to invest in better technology before trying to spend its gold on risky ventures.

EXPLORATION : ASIA
Despite the great war against Fujian, nations of asia and the middle east also continued to work on their expansion and exploration. Japan continued to increase its holding in the northern and southern colonies; And Guangdong gave funding to the expansion of the trading posts in borneo.

EVENTS : EUROPE

CONFLICT RESOLUTION : Limited Ottoman Victory.
The war between Ukraine and the Ottomans was by far decided on the diplomatic table rather than in the battlefield. Ukraine gave up its territory on the caucasus to the Ottomans. This easy victory might result on greater future defeats for the Ottomans, as it increased their confidence too much over healthy levels. The quick victory in Ukraine lead to an invasion of Egypt. (Read The Great Wars of the Near East)

CONFLICT RESOLUTION: Limited Spanish Victory.
Breaking of the Spanish siege was unrealistic, so Morocco decided to let it go for the sake of the divisions under sige and the citizens in danger of starvation. By completing its conquest of all of Iberia, Spain was now ready to commit to colonial expansionism.

CONFLICT: The War of Rus'
Suffering a defeat by the Ottomans, the Ukranians tryed to regain its income and terrotory loses by turning north. The invasion of the Muscovite territories was not expected, and so the 16,000 men strong army quickly over ran the city, barely giving time for the Czar of Moscow to withdraw and stablish a temporary capital. The war was not over however. The armies of Moscow were very numerous and soon their numbers rose to at least 45,000 men. The armies pushed to retake the capital, breaking the invaders route and surrounding the ukranian army in a pocket around the captured capital. Vastly outnumbered, Ukraine might need to reconsider its own strategy. The factor that will decide Victory or defeat will depend on the comming events.

EVENTS : ASIA

CONFLICT RESOLUTION: Total Victory over Fujian
The King of Fujian never sent any orders after the invasion had started. Some claim that he simply wanted to be walled up away from problems or that he had simply gone insane from the news that his kingdom was being attacked from several fronts. Nontheless, Fujian eventually collapsed. The western front was unstopable, the north eastern front was given some resistance (partly due to the invasion from Hebei-Beijing into Jiangsu) and the taiwanese holds were taken by Japanese in a series of twisted assasinations, bribes and threats. Fujian had been conquered, all that was left for the victors was to draw lines on the map for new borders.

From Fujian:
To Guangdong, Japan & Jiangsu:

We accept unconditional surrender, please accept our offer of goodwill in hope to the fair treatment of our people. We await the final decision that takes place between the great 3 powers on regards to new borders.
NOTE: Infrastructure is now changed in the stats to include the spoils of war from taken cities (Guangong +2, Jaingsu +2, Japan +1)

To Guangong:
From Vietnam:

We will accept an allience and will accept marriage of lesser nobility. We however do not want to be part of your empire, we are simply too different.

CONFLICT: The Great Wars of the Near East.
The sultan having crushed the Ukranians decided that his time of greatness had came. Either by vision or madness he immediately prepared his army to strike southwest into Egypt. The hostilities started by systematically destroying the oudated egyptian navy. Then in a very unexpected and calculated move, the Ottomans invaded Egypt by sea. Landing near Alexandria and quickly overruning it. The majority of the army expected an invasion from the Sinai and therefore was unprepared. Then a second invasion army came from sinai and prevented them to go break the siege of their capital. Afterwards the Egyptians were destroyed by the two Ottoman armies crushing it from two sides. The Ottoman victory was near total, capturing the great cities and destroying the majority of the enemy army. This was due to great strategic considerations and technological supremacy. Indeed this sultan had made up for his mistakes and bad planning in Crimea.
The Egyptians have now sent an envoy to ask for mercy and acceptance of surrender to the their new lord.

However the story did not end there, the Agressiveness of the sultan did not go unnoticed. The King of Persia saw himself to be a future prey if he did not act quickly. He raised a huge force, the greatest army of both the muslim and christian world and threw them at the lightly defended Ottoman borders. The sultan had originally planned and funded some forts to be built along the persian border but time and money only allowed for the construction of 4 great forts. Two in the north and two defending the path into Baghdad. In addition, the Ottoman military resources were mostly used on the Egyptian campaign; meaning that only one division (1000 men) were divided into the border. If it hadnt been for the forts they would have been easily crushed. Instead they held their place behind thick walls, which gave their few numbers great advantages. But the Persians did not care. An army of 10,000 men simply went around the fortresses (the desert landscape makes it difficult to bottleneck paths and roads) and took baghdad. They were then reinforced by an additional 5,000 men that landed at the mouth of the two great ancient rivers. By promising independence to minorities in the area, the Persians gained a good foothold which would otherwise might have proven dificult to maintain their massive armies equiped and feed. The southern forts were simply surrounded by reserves and thus are no longer important.
The invasion went well, but it was not as succesful as to get to the mediterrenean. The fortresses did gain some time for the Ottomans, as did the sinking of bridges on the tigris and euphrates.

In the North near the caucasus things did not go as well. The persians were well numbered (estimated around 10,000) but the fortresses here did block a path and the terrain was much more difficult. In addition, it received large re-inforcements from the garrisons on the european and ukranian borders. In the end the invasion was held. Both Persians and Ottomans had very light casualties so far, but things will change soon. The Ottomans and Persians are now in a war for survival, and neighbors are more than likely to get involved. These might be very dangerous times for everyone.

From Egypt:
To Ottoman Empire:

What are your demands? (send PM plz)

CONCLICT: The Second Chinese War.
As the Kingdom of Fujian faced its own doom, The king whose capital was in Beijing prepared a war of his own. Raising a huge army, they invaded Jiangsu with limited surprise. The King of Jiangsu in a latter set of orders sent a small force to defend the borders in case of war with its northern neighbor. However this number was very limited and was easily brushed aside by the Hebei-Beijing armies. A city was taken and then continued south to the Jiangsu Capital. However by this time more and more men rallied to hold the northern invaders. The capital had been saved and now Jiangsu must now withdraw from the south and face a greater problem in the north. Fujian had been crushed, it was now Jiangsu that was fighting for its life.
The forces of Hebei-Beijing are ruthless, executing 1,000 Jiangsu prisoners by cutting their heads with swords in front of a watching population.

NEW RULES:

Casualties will no longer appear in the update, they will only be subtracted from the stats. (this as to reduce updating time)

Divisions can achieve veterancy and Elite status. This only occurs during wars, so dont try to spend PPs on it, and wonders wont pull it off either. So use those units with veterancy status carefully as they wont be easy to come by. They are an asset.

END OF UPDATE
I hope i didnt forget anything... Orders Due by Friday Morning at 6AM US Central Time.

OOC: A small stat problem, I ordered 5 squadrons to be built, not 5 Divisions, as England. Thank you :)

Such an anti-climatic end in Asia...

well you decided to switch nations in the last minute. anyhow, can you remind me when you send orders? ill get it fixed then.

Regards.

To The Persians
From the Ottomans

The Sultan wishes to offer the Persians a peace treaty. No land is to be exchanged and all hostilities are to end. If those terms are accepted a non-Aggressions Pact will be offered.

If the Persians refuse. Then 2 mistakes have been made. The first being the invasion of our homeland.

The Ottomans are no push overs. If the Persian's found the small group of men garrisoning the border difficult to defeat then they will find the entire weight of the Ottoman's pushing against them.

If the Persian's accept the terms, there will be peace. If they refuse, then haersher terms will be given once wee throw the Persian's back.

(My tactical brillance is evident! Egypt has fallen and is no longer a major threat, Stalin, the terms of surrender are going to be sent shortly.)

I have a question:
Does investing into an established colony have the same 'chances' of success as a new exploration, or it insured?

Also:

It looks like Ive captured Alexandria and the Egyptian Capital. Why is it not added to my industry? (Or commerce, whichever)

I didn't switch nations the last minute though  Me, alex, as England? And I'll do as you say :)

insured.

@behind the mask:
As said after the previous update, it wont get added until the war is over. However if they are captured you may count on them when doing orders.

Mmmm shouldn't i lose 1 corruption due to my story (unless you were looking for less personal and more nation oriented stories like feanor and tyrion)?

To: Vietnam
From: Guangdong

Of course not! We never meant to invade you nor have any other territorial design upon you great land. An alliance is all we ask for. We look forward to fruitful relations between our nations.

To: Japan, Jiangsu
From: Guangdong

We propose the following division of Fujian:

Neither way sorry, remind me about it on your orders and it will be fixed. so your corrution is -1 from whatever it is now :)

::: GATHERING OF THE FORCES :::

The Egyptian sun beat down upon the gathering army along the Nile. Following the victories in Egypt the Ottoman Armies were gathering to meet a new threat. To the East, the Persians have invaded, striking deep into the Ottoman Empire, capturing Baghdad and besieging forts along the border.

General Murad Hussein, the victor of Egypt was now being dispatched to face the Persian threat. Murad’s army was large, made up of 15 Divisions (15,000 men) but not as large as the full Persian army. Despite this, Murad was not a great general for his ability to simply command large numbers of troops, but for his tactical abilities. At the battle of Alexandria, he had tricked the Egyptian armies by blowing a hole in their walls and, as the defenders mustered to meet anyone who may enter through the breach, sailed a force of 3 divisions into the harbor. The Alexandrians soon surrendered.

Murad’s army was made up of several different types of troops. Soldiers organized, some armed with swords, some with pikes, some with bows. The cavalry was made up of mostly camels, they worked best in the desert terrains where most battles took place. The rest of the cavalry were mostly Arabian steeds, with the exception of 20 powerful Syrian Elephants. Murad’s pride, however, stood with his siege weaponry. Ottoman cannons were possibly the best of the world, with Murad a master of the art of siege.

The general himself was a rough man. He was born in Anatolia, he was not of the nobility that had dominated the previous generation but a simple farmer. He entered the Ottoman military at the age of 15, he advanced quickly. Murad had accompanied the army in the Crimean venture, despite its eventual failure Murad had proven himself a valuable fighter and a brilliant strategist.

Murad sat atop the back of one of the Syrian Elephants, the Ottoman Banner was mounted to the beast’s side and waved proudly about the air.

Onwards towards Persia!!!

Nice update, i assume if we dont have enough resources to complete a tech advance in one turn its banked?

just put whatever money you want into it, it will fill up and eventually it will be conpleted. Kind of like a wonder, except that there is no minimum of turns.
