Neo Nes : Age Of Greatness

start sending orders, they are due in 12 hours at 6 AM central US time. So please dont forget. and thanksto everyone who joined.

It was the time of the Joseon Dynasty. Korea was strong, a vibrant nation that shone on the coast as a pearl does in the sand. Though it was surrounded by those who were perhaps a little too envious of what the Koreans held. The Japanese to the east held themselves above all others, probably due to their isolation from anyone but themselves, Korea could grit its teeth and deal with the incredibly arrogant foreigners but a watchful eye was kept on them at all times. In case the isolation of their isles grew too much for them, as it had before.

To the west lay the lands of the Chinese, in all their kingdoms. A powerful force when united they were currently fragmented into the warring states that had been seen many times before. As the chinese themselves put it 'An empire long united, must divide; an empire long divided, must unite.'.
Perhaps this is so. But whether it is or not what is true is that beyond China and the great mountains and deserts on its western Frontier lay lands inhabitated by many a strange people. Who, while incomparable to the people of Korea and the east at times have things of interest. As such trade routes were established and the east met the west.

Where the future would lead Korea had but guesses. Korea however was not one to sit idly by and watch the world go by. Korea would be Strong, Korea would prosper.

Ill take HEBEI-BEIJING XD

Episode I : The First Voyage To the Unknown
1476

EXPLORATION : EUROPE

The world that is known is relatively less than half of the actual world. Most of Europe and Asia, as well as north africa are known to have existed. Centuries of trade with the richness of the east gave new ideas to the european powers to find a route to asia; A route free of the many middlemen that made the cost of silk, spices, and many other products from china, india and the muslim world very expensive. The first recorded attempt to do so was done by the Roman Republic. The country had built its first fleet and with it came funding to send an expedition. It was said to have the porpuse of spreading religion, but ultimately it also had the draw of commerce and wealth. The trip did not go good. In fact they were lucky to have survived. The chances to cross the ocean at this point are really low. Perhaps only one in four would ever made the voyage. The Italians turned back after food became short and no land was yet seen. A storm pushed the ships to strange new lands. Although not those that they expected. They landed in North Africa, they prayed to God and did what they were told to do in new discovered lands. They opened a church and a small stronghold village to spread the christian gospel. Other prospectors also looked around the land for wealth. It was finally realised that they were in africa, although a completely unknown of forgotten place in africa.

This was not the end but the beginning of expeditions east and west, but the Roman italian expedition marked the start of this new era.

EXPLORATION : ASIA

Exploration and colonization in east asia and the muslim world were not as visionary as to cross oceans, yet. But they did started to spand across the near seas to lands they were somewhat already aware of existing. The Persians sent an expedition south, stablishing a foothold in the peninsula in the south, that which they already knew as Arabia. The southern chinese kingdom of Guangdong sent an expedition before the war began. This one landed in the norhern most part of Borneo. Finally the Japanese also made great efforts to expand and stablish footholds in new lands. In fact it is the japanese that are the most busy exploring and colonising, sending not one, but two succesful expeditions. One to the rather familiar island to the north and to the farther away island to the south (philiphines).

EVENTS : EUROPE

Events in Europe and North africa were not many, altough might in the future turn to be important. The Dutch-Wallonian Trade Company was funded to expand and protect its commercial assets. In northern europe work began on the Great admiralty of Sweden to build a grand navy. The stories that attracted the most attention was the balance between the muslim and christian worlds. As Spain pushes the moroccans south, the Ottomans would push the Ukranians north.

CONFLICT: The Reconquista Incomplete
The Spanish invasion force composed of 15,000 men headed south to finally unify all of Iberia under one monarch. The taking of Cordoba is strategically important as it is symbolic. The king of Spain is a true man of war, as he had conquered Portugal by the age of twenty four. Today he is in his fifties and has decided not to to die at least until his dream is complete. The king however was troubled of news that the new Moroccan might be capable of bringing a strong decent defense. This king never sent any orders, only sending reinforcements. Without leadership, the armies of Morocco retreated to its great fortifications in the south. They had expected to be able to hold with supplies from the sea. However the Spanish fleet stablished a blockade and the army placed a siege. The defenders will now be staved to death and the city taken witout casualties (by next turn), unless the moroccans break up the siege or blockade somehow. As it is, the reconquista might be complete very soon.

CONFLICT: The Ottoman Push North
A few months after Spain invaded muslim morocco, the Ottoman empire pushed against christian Ukraine. The word moved quickly in europe, but both events were not linked, the ottomans did not act as a retaliation. The invasion had been long pre planned, the administration moved to a new capital to handle the war better and several reforms ennacted. The sultan expected to have conquered the caucasus quickly, but things did not turn entirely his way.
The war started before the dawn of the 17th of June, the ottoman fleet moved slowly carrying its heavy cargo. The army five-thousand strong were to be unloaded in the Crimea as a surprise. They landed succesfully but the Ukrainian fleet gave battle. The result was not decisive, both withdrawing with similar loses. Ukraine had also gone through reforms, but these were not as well thought out as the ottoman. Administration and the road to centralization began to take place; However it angered much of the nobility. Legally nobles and serfs were more equal according to law and the ministry of complaints. Feudalism was struck to its very own fundations. The serfs were to be taxed too, but serfs do not receive income. It is unknown if the Czar trully understood the concept of feudalism, but his good will was heard by the serfs. The country would break into civil war between the nobility and the supporters of the Czar. The country was about to collaps - then the ottomans invaded. This invasion was the glue that would for now at least keep the country together. The Ottomans fighting in the Crimea would not last long, the majority of the Ukranian army would soon crush it. However the job of those forces was entirely diversionary, and they had done their job. Ottoman forces pushed throught the Caucasus. An army of 10,000 men pushed through the caucuasus, the advance was very slow, moving across the mountains and bringing their heavy artillery. Ukranian responce was quick but limited. A number was kept in the western border with the Ottomans, while another force was kept in Crimea in case another landing would take place. Then the great city in the caucasus was reached by Ottomans, and was under siege. Soon the Ottoman artillery would arrive and be able to blast its walls away. At the same time Ukanian forces began to gather in the city for a defence or defence.

But as both nations fight each other, their neighbors look with hungry eyes. It was fortunate for the Ukranians to have signed a treaty of peace and nonaggression with Poland, but what of the others? The weakness of both is evident, but only time will tell.

Ottomans - 8 Divisions, -3 squadrons
Ukranians -6 Divisions, -2 squadrons.
3 Ottoman divisions achieve veterancy
2 Ukranian divisions achieve veterancy

EVENTS : ASIA

In Japan the Imperial Highways were started to encourage growth and efficiency while In Vietnam, it was decided that an Allience with Guangdong was to be the best bet to maintain security. However the most important event was the start of another series of wars to unify China under a single emperor and mandate of heaven.

CONFLICT: The Partition of Fujian?
The kingdom of Fujian did not concentrate in creating a huge army, instead it used its resources to build a better standard of living and commerce. But this weakness was noticed by its neighbors, and it wouldnt be long before they were aware of it. Who originally proposed to partition Fujian is not known, but Jiangsu took the first step. Two armies with a total of 20,000 men moved on to take cities. Fujian acted, they were numerically inferior but Jiangsu had its armies divided. The entire Fujian army engaged and crushed one of the armies 5,000 men strong, and the other retreating to avoid the same problem. However numbers were simply too much, Jiangsu quickly overan a city and captured it. The Generals of Jiangsu ware not very happy, apparently they had been told that they wouldnt be fighting the whole war by themselfs. Surely enough Guangdong was to invade too, but their invasion was delayed by two weeks. A set of last minute contingency orders forced the Generals not to attack until Jiangsu had been confirmed to have attacked. Ofcourse the great distance, the chaos of communications and an overly paranoid Guangdong emperor meant that the army was not allowed to move in. Another factor was the expectation of attack from other allies that never materialized. Or maybe, as rumors in tea houses say, the emperor meant for Jiangsu to bleed white. Nobody really knows. Neither way, the days of Fujian are numbered unless it finds allies to fight on its side or a miracle appears.
The fleet of Fujian stayed safely in its taiwanese harbors, unattacked.

Fujian -4 Divisions
2 Fujianese Divisions achieve Veterancy.
Jiangsu - 5 Divisions
Guangdong - 1 Divisions

_______
NEW RULES:

Divisions can achieve veterancy and Elite status. This only occurs during wars, so dont try to spend PPs on it, and wonders wont pull it off either. So use those units with veterancy status carefully as they wont be easy to come by. They are an asset.

So stalin, do i control that city or not?

EDIT: and my story wasn't good enough...? (my corruption didn't decrease..)

Is it the same for the city I tried to capture?

Im also guessing my little Crimea Assualt was a complete failure, right?

You could say things went terrible but I think things went fine. I didn't expect the Crimea campaighn to take anyways.

Im outnumbered now, but perhaps with some good strategy I can still come out of this a winner.

1 question about the stats, If Fujian lost a city why do they still have 5 Industries? (Also i believe the captured city isnt' counted toward Jiangsu's stats...) :)

Shouldn't a besieged city not count towards either sides economy?

I mean. They have no way of getting the money from the city and neither do we for its still inside.

To Morocco
From Spain :

Relinquish your last forts in Hispania to us and there shall be peace. There has been enough bloodshed.

Shouldn't a besieged city not count towards either sides economy?

I mean. They have no way of getting the money from the city and neither do we for its still inside.

I think that that would only be true in the case of encirclement, either direct encirclement (by taking all the surroundings but not the city) or indirect encirclement (like what Spain is doing to the Moroccan City, encircling it with army forces from one side and blockading the other side with ships)
Though Fuijiang should have 1 Industry less and Jingsu one more since that city had been taken.
