Maybe you are right, but i'm afraid that at this point getting to arty may be even more difficult then warring with France. After all we'll ally America and they have muskets fortified in big cities. Maybe that'll be enough to stop the French. I wonder did they have a GA already?

Abe would be a bit helpful, but not much. Remember the "7+1" legendary game? Ottomans was the 2nd powerful civ for a long time, but it was crushed by France quickly. If the 7+1 Indian didn't ruin their own rep to declare to France, Joan would win domination in several turns. Now Abe is even weaker than Osman, how much can you count him on?

I would say chance of beating Joan with Abe now is 0.1%, while chance of beating Joan with railroad and artillery is 10%: both are slim, but there is still a diffrence of 100 folds ...

Didn't realise that it was my turn untill now. I got it and will play tonight. Whether we choose to attack Joan or not, we still need some time to setup the defenses. I'll try to do it during my turnset and then we'll see what we can do.

ThERat- I did read that game, but IIRC (not looking at it now) America (or was it Sumeria?) wasn't as big as France, and that was arch, which tech pace is much slower than continents.

We can definately take France, though I didn't consider they having a GA.

In 7+1, with their GL slingshot, they got to attack France before modern armor and before their cities were too good developed. In one of my sid solo games, I was as large as India and my opponent was as large as France, but because I had to wait longer becuase I had to catch up the hard way, they had many more units, and killed me in one turn. Our only chance with France is now, the longer we wait, the tougher it'll be to kill them. I bet Obor can build up a good attacking force, then sometime in the next turnset (Whomp's) we can start the attack.

Hey, they get better than accel production, and they're in their GA. This is actually good, they've hit their unit support limit, and in their GA they get more cash, so they build more units, then their GA ends, and they're in major debt. The AI doesn't disband units, nor allow themselves to lose gpt (even if it doesn't go to negatives), so their research will be totally stopped until they get enough units autodisbanded to raise their slider again.

I say do like 7+1 did: Attack, cut their Saltpeter and sign MA's or embargos (I don't think I've ever signed an embargo :)). They won't have Cavs and Musketeers then. After that, grind with trebs.

Man, the only trouble is you don't know where is the saltpeter! You don't have feudalism yet, not to mention gunpowder!

50AD
- Change all builds to trebs. The idea is to use jungles and swamps to stop french cavalry use trebs and leader-fish.
- Peace treaty with Osman ends next turn, prepair horses to raze Kafa to get rid of the flip threat. Our culture is represented with a 1-pixel wide line on the culture graph.
- Disband some regular warriors and NMs that we had to keep the economy alive.

IBT
- Osman asks us to extend peace treaty. I refuse.

70AD
- Moving units around.

IBT
- Byzantines are destroyed.

90AD
- Raze Kafa, rush temple in Horses. That should eliminate the culture threat.

IBT
- Osman drops an AC and a knight.

110AD
- Kill the landing loosing 1 horse.

150AD
- Kill another ottoman landing of 3 ACs and a pike. Sign peace with Osman, we get 1 gold :D

190AD
- French are in the IA. Well, the difference between a musketeer and a rifle is not so great, right?

250AD
- Finished constructing the barricades. French cavalry cannot reach our cities in 1 turn, we have a big stack of trebs and cats to bombard them down and then leader fish. But that would not be enough because they have rifles. A treb has a 50% chance to hit a rifle and there will be many of them. Also even a redlined rifle will be a problem for our obsolete units. We can try declaring war on the french though, because the only other chance i see is capturing the GL in a RoP rape, which means using 2 major exploits - i won't get any satisfaction from such a victory. Our trebs are parked near the front, our horses are covering the coast from landings.

50%? THat's good news, I thought it was less. A stack of 20 trebs will hit 10 times then, which redlines 3 and takes one hit point off one. Swords will do an ok job. Bamspeedy took rifle defended cities with cats and musketeers (aka swords) :D .

I see we have some elites. That's good.

We definately need to attack France. The chances of them not attacking us, along with the chance of getting out of the tech hole and pulling off diplo or space combined is nil, so let's kill em while we can. At least we know we have at least 12 turns until they get infantry :D .

Sending the army to pillage their core might be a good idea, but this will make us even more exposed. Also i'm not sure that americans will be able to protect themselves, so signing a MA might turn out to be a bad idea.

Trebs have bombard power of 6 and cats of 4. This means that teh chance that a treb will hit a rifle is 6/(6+6)=50% and for a cat it is 4/(4+6)=40%.

We have 15 trebs, 17 cats, 14 NMs (3 of them in the army) and 14 horses. We only have 3 elites and we are not militaristic, so we won't get many leaders.

Oh, boy, having no lux makes your economy so miserable ... Too bad you didn't Baltimore and its wines ...

I think that if america gets Nationalism they would be able to defend, but now i'm not sure. And if we wait for them to get fifles, the french can get infantry.

Problem is how to convince Abe to join you? You have 5 gpt (15 after finishing buying engineering) to pay, it looks too small.
