Taken a look at the save. We are definately safe this turn from city capturing if I do correct manuevers (which I will). Those three musketeers and looking to burn our iron mine, so I'll send a spare NM to cover it. 1 french cav is in position to take 1 of 3 of our core cities, but I can reinforce all with an extra unit, so he can't get one this turn, and 2 swords are 1 turn away which can finish them. We haven't used our artillery yet, so I'll redline most surrounding cav and capture that beatiful looking stack of trebs France has one cav covering. Will make a plan soon, then execute it.

I am posting from my girlfriend's Apple at Starbucks and I will not be able to play at least until tomorrow.

Pre-turn, 350AD- Here is the situation at the start on the turnset:

nero3_150_1.jpg

I can’t decide on what to do with the army. If I have him pillage, their reinforcements can’t get to the mountain outpost before having rocks thrown, but then we’ll need those roads when we advance. But our slaves could build roads, so we’re ok. See that bad boy French gun pony? He could take 1 of three of my core cities, each defended with one spear pony. So I send another horses to two of the cities, and an extra NM to one. He can’t take a city in one turn, and two fresh swords on the way during the IBT, we can put this guy away. Of course, there will be more landings next turn :crazyeye: . Uh-oh, the three musketeers up north are looking for trouble. I send an NM for defense in that city, then another to guard the iron. The workers will flee to the city, then turn into hot chicks to distract the 3 musketeers from their ambition to pillage next turn. Don’t know what to do with that silly settler(tm), our perfect layout combat cities it can’t go near, so it’ll found a crap treb making town by America up north. Found Carthago Novo Now it’s combat time ;) . Cats go meow and trebs go, uh… bark? I’m keeping a tally on the battles and suggest everyone do this, we need to know our kill ratio, to know whether it’s profitable to keep fighting or not. This turn I kill-
Cav- II

And we lose-
Horses- I
NM’s- III (horrible RNG luck this turn)

Situation before I hit shift-enter

IBT- Lose a sword (fully healed attacked by a redlined cav  , NM, and horse. Carthage sword>sword, Leptis Magna sword>sword. I accidently left a city open to a redlined cav, and they take it, and magically a vet rifle appears there  . How did it do that? A cash rush would have taken another turn, and there was no road. Another landing by an open city.

1. France has 2 musketeers on iron :( . No more swordy’s for us. Stopping here, each turn is exhausting.

Will finish this later, and it's time for 5 turn sets, at least during this war time. The SG standard is 5 for the IA, but I don't know if we'll ever get there, and our opponents are there.

Don't lose hope, once we pillage their supply line for reinforcements and their salt/horses, the game is won.

I agree with 5-turn sets. It's painful, especially in war-time.

Keep the army pillaging, and hope to get another one. It looks like we're winning, unless they reinforcements are very strong.

1 continued. Take another look at the save, and the situation is not as bad as I remembered. I give Trebizond away, due to unquenchable threat of a French cav. Had I razed it, A. we couldn't get it back, B. Frenchies would have a one turn route to one of our cities, and C. Might drag Otto's into the war with us. Trebs bark and cats meow, successful once again.

2 French cav killed, no losses!!!

IBT- Something unexpected happened. Marshes only take two movement points, not three like I thought!!! A cav sneaked in, took Sulcis, then the levee broke, and the barrage of French cav took Rusicade, Hippo, and a city I forgot the name of (French cav covering it). I was optimistic before, but IMO this game is lost. Even if we do manage to get peace before death, we're in a poor gov (monarchy) with little infranstructure in a giant tech hole. I didn't think it would end like this :( , very disappointing. Should we try again, or are we exhausted? I'd be happy to try again if others want to. <slowly walks away to try and beat a sid solo game before civ4>

Too bad. I also thought swamps take 2 movement. Anyway our campaign was too much of a gamble, so maybe this is well deserved.

Si are we going to give it another try? I think that it might be good idea to try an early archer rush instead if the farmer's gambit.

Sure, I'm game. I'm fine with any settings besides arch, except maybe 60% (which is like continents). Standard map size is the best, and bigger takes too long, and any smaller won't feel like a real win. How about trying pangaea :D ? Heroes can join too if he wants and somebody isn't up for a second round. Pangaea is doable with a GL capture. I'd suggest somebody commercial (for alphabet, seafaring is useless), and maybe scientific, religious, or industrious, or agri.

lurker's comment: make a new game, i wanna subscribe immeadetily, and remember the golden rule, screenshots=subscribers, and followers(like me).
