Play 1th draw

It's the english:
4000BC
move from gold to coast
3950BC
Found London->scout
writing on min
3850BC
contact Iro, they have WC and CB we have alpha, no trade
3750BC
London scout->warrior
3550BC
Contact rome
get WC+9gold for pottery
3500BC
London warior->archer
3200BC
London archer->settler
3000BC
Rome and iro now both have CB and BW

Appears to be arch map, with no barbs. Rather crowded, hence the early warrior. To me it seems best to try and block the a\AI form settling in the north. Get settler->rax->archers/spears->keep fingers crossed.

Turn 0, 3000BC: MM looks good, the start position does not :). Researching writing at min, CB and BW available for trade but we pass for the moment. We have very little land and the nearest fresh water is at NF.

IT: Iro send a settler E from NF. blocking them is going to be tricky, we'll be lucky to get a first ring. Probably need to prepare for early war after a short expansion phase.

Turn 3, 2850BC: Salamanca is built on top of a cow :crazyeye:, and has another cow and 5 bg's in range. Hey, anyone can play a start like that!

IT: A barb shows up. London settler -> warrior.

Turn 4, 2800BC: settler heads for the cow, with archer-warrior bodyguard.

IT: The bodyguard kills the barb on defense.

Turn 5, 2750BC: We are definitely on an island, with Iro and Rome.

IT: A Roman warrior appears at the border. A new barb appears from the fog.

Turn 6, 2710BC: Cattaraugus has appeared in our first ring... :(

IT: our warrior kills another barb, but is at 1 hp.

Turn 7, 2670BC: York settled near the cow -> warrior.

IT: London warrior -> warrior.

IT Turn 8, 2630BC: A second Roman warrior appears near our borders. Barb hunting hopefully.

Turn 10, 2550BC: Spot the barb camp.

notes: We need to prepare for early war I think. There are very few good places to settle, no fresh water, no more food bonusses, and Iro/Rome have run out of land as well. It might be good to fight Iro in alliance with Rome, but we'll need writing and iron working preferably. We could buy BW for about 90-100 gold, and it might be a good idea as our gold will be demanded anyway. Then hopefully trade IW for Writing, upgrade some warriors, and kick some Iro's.

Our scouts are on the way back home, perhaps use to block, or just disband. York could do worker after 1-2 warriors. A granary would help a bit, but will take forever to finish. Better just build a mix of military and settlers/workers I think.

Our glorious empire:

The save.

Waiting for iron and swords is gonna be too hard with our terrible start.
And we maybe haven't this iron ;)
We should build first ring of cities, and then start war.

Btw, are deity cost factor and free units in vanilla equal to C3C?

I agree that archers is the way to go. We'd be too weak if we waited for Swords. I agree with Nerovats' dotmap, with possibly one addition. Nothing is going to grow bigger than a 6 any time soon. Do you think it would be a good idea to plant a town on the white dot? It would be one more town producing something (workers maybe). We could always abandon it later. Either way, I think the next town should go on the blue dot.

Got a lot going on right now, so I'll play my turns tomorrow night. It will give us some more time for discussion anyhow.

EDIT: BTW nerovats, what graphics mod are you using? The fish has 3 HP. :crazyeye:

if theres still space nero count me in if not then dw bout it, i assume this isnt the game we were talking about in Chinese Dynasty?

@Tupaclives actually it is, but I would also like to play the cool start :lol:

@McLMan I don´t use grafics mods, at least not that I know of.

Agree with archers. 4 units are enough to cut of the AI, lot of hills for defence bonus. Hope they give us time to get defences in place. I think we should change the wariors to archers. No time for granary I think.

@Tone: Why not join? Or is the roster full?

Archers is going to be a bloodbath, as Iro's already defend with spears. Don't know what's best really...

Tone can still join. Roster is full otherwise though.

I prefer archer over a possibility of swords. A stack of archers, spear and a lot of cats will grind their way trough the AI. Raze and replace to expand. Would be great if we could get the romans to back us in out way through the iro´s.

lurker's comment: Well I abstained thinking the roster was full, I should've come forth ;)
But you guys are much better off with Tone lemme tell ya :D

Will be lurking, and enjoying :ar15:

lurker's comment:Thanks for the offer but too many players can mean that you lose track of what's going on so I'll abstain. Please put up with the odd comment from me as a lurker though.

I've played a lot of higher level games with decent starts so I''m actually more interested in the difficult start posted in our last game thread. I'll play in that one if we get a team up. Maybe Beorn can join us as well?
