NES Map Development & Requests

I'm thinking of doing an alternate history for which I would need a map done to about 1620. I would prefer one done on the old NESing map, not the one that seems to be in vogue right now (I know it's more accurate, but I find working with that amount of curvature and that large a scale difficult to the point of unpleasentness), in a style similar to mine/North King's/Das' (mine is probably too fussy to replicate, so something closer to NK or Das is fine).

<snip>
This is Europe in an Azimuthal Equidistant projection, centered at 50°0',20°0', 1:10M scale, with modern cities plotted. It could probably be boosted to anywhere between this and 1:5M with little concern (terrain shown is ArcMap default, not necessarily high-quality). The scale is such that military bases or transit networks could be depicted (though I am not necessarily interested in gathering that data myself).

Does anybody have any use for this sort of thing? If so, what places would be good to map as such other than North America and Europe?

In my idea a good use for a map such as this would be some Middle-East based NES, with conflict between the native groups and the counter-terrorist expeditions. It would be useful to have such complex data as transit networks, military bases, even major urban centers to properly negotiate the terrain. That is to say, it would be optimal for simulating two groups navigating the area (as for how you would implement one group's superiority in terms of knowledge I have no idea).

Just a thought, it's what first sprung to mind when I saw the map and it's description.

That is perfect. Thanks a lot for the help Symph.

I thought you were talking about the butterfly effect. I must admit I'm a bit disappointed, though I'm can't really say what exactly I expected to see in case I was right. :p

Yeah it is cool, but what is it?

Just wondering, do you still have your 1914 map, Symphony? I would try to dig it out myself, but I would rather not waddle through every single post that you have contributed to the community, nor would I try to use the Search function that doesn't seem to reach a satisfactory conclusion.

Y'know, there's this stickied thread called Completed NES Maps. And the very first post links to Mapping the Past, whose first post directs you to here.

I now have a bigger problem. Is it quite possible for the ever semi-merciful map makers to create a North King version of the Kaiserreich map? Use this one for reference:

Wouldn't be too hard in MSpaint.. jus a few hours work..

Well I would, but then I remember how I hate the setting with a burning passion ;). It'd be rather less than a few hours though, since you can just trace OTL 2008 borders for most of it and make up crap what with the Kaiserreich guide being somewhat vague.

A blank map of the island of Jamacia please, big enough to fill your screen.
