Nes2 I

I've noticed. Am beginning to post the update.

Year 1924 - Update 23.

Global Events:

Brazil has been put under strict control, with Russian and Madagascar Temporary Occupation Zones (TOZ), it’s army being disbanded and Incans gaining numerous border areas (including Caracas). However, all is not quiet. In Northern part of Brazil, disillusioned Brazilian veterans have formed a communist resistance force. Waging a propaganda campaign, they soon received numerous volunteers that followed them, and attacked numerous Incan, and later Russia, occupation units. The region is on a verge of a revolution.

(-1 Russian division, -2 Incan divisions)

Territories of Brazil that are outside of the occupation zones are largely in anarchy as well.

Panama Canal brings in profit to Panama, Cuba and Incan Empire (+2 Economy to each of the three).

In Iberia, the new terror police has cracked down hard on the communist movement, and on other dissenters. They did it just in time, too – a communist coup d’etat was planned for this year.

Germany experiences a new economy boom (+1 Economy), perhaps due to many Burgundians moving into Germany Proper, providing a large labor force. Meanwhile, PRG forces move into Burgundy, to “restore order”. Riots are being put down. Brussels is under siege by French forces, and neither side is ready to attack the other.

Communism – no longer just on Earth.

(see below)

Finland seems to have acquired nuclear power, and first Finnish nuclear power station went online this year. The rumors spread at first that Finland will send troops to help Oceania, but since the parliament and the people fiercely defended the good relations with Russia (and didn’t really care about Oceania), nothing happened.

Around St. Petersburg, Russian forces hold a parade of victory in WWII, and maneuvers dedicated to the Battle of St. Petersburg (+1 Culture). Meanwhile, the citizens are being taught the measures in case of a nuclear attack (План Действий в Случае Ядерной Атаки, ПДвСЯА).

Meanwhile, communism is gaining a foothold in Russia, as the communist party is quickly rising and the communist radio acquires a large audience. The president seems not to mind this too much, albeit his attempts of pro-worker reforms are being defeated by a conservative-fascist coalition. Nevertheless, it is estimated that soon enough, communists MIGHT gain the control of the Duma.

Egyptian Civil War is over. Egypt is officially annexed into Arabian Caliphate, as Fascist soldiers laid down arms after their leader was overthrown by a group of moderate officers.

(-Entire Fascist Military)

In Africa, referendums held in former Brazilian colonies (as per decision of the Boma Conference) give Brazilian West Africa to Liberia (Britain’s government stated that it would not withdraw, and it’s forces are still located the northern part of the colony – albeit the Liberian civilian government is set up already), Brazilian Cameroon (narrowly) to Congo, Zulus received the southern parts of Greater Angola, Madagascar received parts of the Brazilian Southeastern Africa. Republics of Malawi and Angola received independence. Russo-FES forces, ignoring numerous protests, continue to occupy Nueva Lusitania.

Madagascaran Toliera Bomber is finally unveiled.

An Arabian officer, Abu Muhadeen, is the first man, and second human, in the orbit. Once again, it does not catch as much attention as Edda Skadi.

Using it’s cheap labor sources, China started mass production of various products. Soon enough, Chinese production begun to dominate Madagascaran markets...

Oceanian air forces suffer a major defeat, as NZPA seems to have received large amounts of aid, building up a large air force (or maybe it’s Comintern air fleets?). Oceanians launched a counter-offensive against NZPA, first taking out the western rioters by simply massacring those who do not leave and resist arrest, and then retaking several cities and towns from NZPA elsewhere in Australia. It is believed that most NZPA cells there were smashed by the ruthless actions of the martial law government, now headed by vice president Aucksbourne. However, in the east, NZPA is on the offensive, having captured Sydney (with minor DC assistance – by the time the marines arrived, the fighting there was almost over) and occupied Australia east of Darling. Oceanians did not expect serious resistance there, and thus failed to retake the territory. DC does not act, but holds on despite the desperate attempts to push their forces into the sea, and Oceanians failed to crush their blockade – not too surprising, as Oceanian navy still isn’t fully recovered. This time it’s Oceania that suffers large casualties, allowing the DC forces to launch a counter-offensive. Russians secure large parts of New Guinea. Arabs have landed on the island of Java, encountering heavy resistance from the “police” units there, but with the help of local Muslims and having obtained air superiority, they manage to secure most of the island.

(-6 NZPA divisions, -9 NZPA air wings, -4 DC divisions, -3 DC task forces, -8 Arab divisions, -1 Arab air wing, -15 Oceanian divisions, -5 Oceanian task forces, -10 Oceanian air wings)

PRG’s party officials stated that they intend to grant independence to Singapore after the [Oceanian] war is over.

Random Events:

In Aztec Republic, the rise of national identity and patriotism led to the creation of ten more volunteer divisions (+10 Divisions).

In Korea, a scandal started over corruption - a corrupt military officer allowed a group of what is believed to be some nation’s secret forces to steal a nuclear warhead (-1 A-Bomb).

Spotlight:

Lunar Revolution.

"To Moon and beyond!"
- Josef von Dunkelheit. 1924.

The final phase of Aurora Project has been finished, as first three humans (two Germans - Karl Viltenberg and Maria Hoffenmeir, and one Russian - Vladimir Kitaitski) walked on the moon and raised the flags of Comintern, DU, PRG and Russia.

Immediately, it caused much commotion back on Earth. Albeit at first, everybody was filled with enthusiasm, soon enough some people started to notice that something is wrong. First of all, why did a Russian join a German expedition? And others, especially military specialists in DU nations, were concerned about the "Comintern conquest of the outer space". Many more people begun to become even more enthusiastic with communism, seeing that it revels more and more horizons to humanity - while the DU is yet to do anything half as impressive (some do point out to the rapidly-expanding TV industry, but most think that it is not as much).

It is also believed that this has propelled PRG into a new age of technology – albeit, skeptics say that India already achieved a more or less equal level of development.

One way or another, this is a major propaganda win for Communism. The development of space industry also boosted German science and economy. Some say, "communism will triumph in the end - and it will not be too bad".

NPC Diplomacy:

From: France
To: PRG

We need your help in retaking Brussels!

From: Zululand
To: FES and Russia

We protest you not holding any elections for the territory you occupy. We hope you will make good on your promise this turn.

From: Oceania
To: Russia, DC

What will be your peace terms?

From: Oceania
To: Finland

Where is your promised aid?!

From: NZPA
To: the current allies against Oceania

We at first sought an unified Oceania under the communist flag, but now it would seem that it is impractical. We would agree to remove our claims from Indonesia. We suggest that an unified Indonesian nation is created, and chooses it’s own government. In fact, we believe we should all discuss the future of the United States of Oceania and all of it’s territories.

OOC:

Everyone, I’m quite sure this is one of my worser updates. Bear with me.

I also have reasons to believe that something is SERIOUSLY wrong with the stats...

OOC: I'm not getting something here... my two posts joined into one. I suspect that it is one of those features I never noticed until now, right? Anyway, I hope this won't merge with the update as well...

Well this new "feature" doesn't look so good... It'll make posting updates a heck of a lot harder.

wth is going on?! why have my territories in africa been anexed i saw no calims of war?

It wasn't your territory. It was a Brazilian one. There were elections held for every colony. That colony voted to stay with Liberia. Your forces are still there, but civil administration was set up, so it's Liberian territory now.

To: Great Britain
From: Liberia

The people have spoken. Kindly remove your forces from our territory.

To: Russia, FES
From: Liberia

We lodge an official protest over your failure to conduct the agreed-upon elections. We urge you to do them this turn.

Strangly we don't remember that we agreed upon any elections... neither did we promise anything...

To: Korean

How corrupt must a nation be that nations are able to steal their NUKES!? Stupid duraks your failure in controling your officials has brought a great danger upon the entire world!

To: FES
From: Liberia

We think it is best if you conduct the referendum this turn. Pay no attention to Russia's statements, this is YOUR decision to make.

hmm let me think, i conquered it i didnt agree to votes, it never was with Liberia and thus cant stay with. How can they have elections when i did not grant them permision!

To Ireland
From Britain

You have failed to grant the promised referendums! We demand to know why and we will be sending inspectors to make sure any future votes are not tampered with.

To: Great Britain
From: Liberia

We have a deal for you: you give us British West Africa in exchange for airbase and port rights and 1 Econ per turn for 2 turns.

To World:
From Korea:

Oops!

To Korea
From APR

The understatement of the year! Do you realize what some people in this world might do if they got ahold of nuclear weapons? We shudder to think what the Oceanians or Burgundians might do with a nuclear warhead.

To APR
From Finland

News flash, the Oceanians already have nuclear warheads.

OOC: Errr... Right. Oops. I assumed that the two that exploded in Brisbane and Jakarta were their only two.

Prime Minister Ndukame studied the map before him with mixed emotions.

On the one hand, he was disappointed that The Cameroon had decided to stick with the Communist Congolese. Not that it had been a decisive loss, mind you. 43% had chosen Congo, 40% had chosen Liberia, and 17% had wanted independence. He sighed, realizing he should have promised to grant some sort of limited autonomy to siphon some of those 17% to his camp. Ah well, he rationalized. They would soon see the error of choosing the Reds.

He was pleased that the people of the Mauritanian territories had decided to join the Empire. By a margin of 71-26 percent, they had chosen to be ruled by their brothers in Africa, not some faraway King in London. But there was a problem.

The British refused to acknowledge the legitimacy of the referendum. Despite overwhelming support for joining Liberia, the people had effectively been muffled by the Colonial Government. Ndukame's conscience was troubled when he thought of the Africans living under Britain's boot, and he resolved to do something about it.

OOC: Das, wat happened to my wonder? the ER at (2/3)? It's not on my stats anymore...

I wish you stop writing diplo and stories about something that hasnt happend or shudnt have. There was no vote and no change over it is my land.

To: Britain
From: Liberia

Perhaps you cannot read. It was clearly stated in the Update that a vote occured. Now perhaps this was done without your knowledge, but the fact remains that it did happen. And, in any event, it is time for you to end your occupation of African territory. You have oppressed them enough, don't you think?

PEOPLES REPUBLIC OF GERMANY:
TO ENGLAND AND RUSSIA:

We were right, Germany saw the expansion of the Liberian sphere of control and influence once the war came to a virtual end. They have tricked the world and used their DU status to hold illegal elections in territories that do not belong to them. They have in a sense taken territory in the form of an illegal takeover with the excuse of liberating 'nationals' to expand their power.
Look at Congo, they gave independence to the people they liberated!, it was Russian and British blood that fought to liberate those people, this cannot stand!

To Britain
From Madagascar

We ask that you honor the referendum.

To Germany
From Madagascar

Illegal elections? The people voted on their own, as all of Africa did.
