Nes2 I

will have orders tomorrow i hope need to sort some stuff out first

ooc: das, what would happen if the Chinese implemented a small minimum wage, so the farmers dont live in poverty under the landowners, and printed enough money so that there would be enough in circulation?

OOC: The situation will somehow improve, but very slowly. And it is not guaranteed to work.

STORY:

As Prime Minister Ndukame got out of the automobile, he was struck by the complete absence of clouds above him. He could clearly see thousands of stars in the night sky. It had been quite some time since he had been out this far in the barren Sahara Desert.

Of course, that was the whole point. This top-secret military base was hundreds of miles from the nearest permanent settlement. Only the Bedouin came out this far, and they were easily frightened off by the "magic" of large spotlights pointed their way.

And now, Project Swift Sword was coming to fruition. The culmination of years of diligence was on this base. And the Prime Minister had come to witness the dawning of a new era for the Liberian Empire: the Nuclear Era.

Sure, several other nations had nuclear weapons. They had been used in various conflicts around the world. But there was no denying that a certain air of power and untouchability came with their possession. Of course, they would never use the weapons aggressively. That would be insane. But they are an extremely effective deterrent.

"This way, Prime Minister," the corporal said. "The protected bunker is down these steps."

He walked down the steps into a dimly lit room with a small opening at one end. Generals Yambe and Hampton were also present. As he took a seat near the opening, they explained the slight risk involved and the safety precautions required. Of course he understood all that.

"We would like for you to have the honors of pressing the button, Excellency," General Yambe said with a wide grin. Of course, Ndukama thought, Yambe is angling for the Ministry of Defense job.

When everybody was set in their positions, he placed his hand on the large red button. After saying a few flowery words commemorating Liberia's entry into the nuclear club, he pressed the button.

It was even more impressive than he had possibly imagined. Indeed, Liberia had entered a whole new era. And it was a bright future.

In surprising news, the NDP of Turkey won the election by a thin margin--4,577 decided the election that kept the Communists out of power, but the Communists still have considerable influence, with 49 of the seats in Parliament, compared to 49 for the NDP and 2 for the Islamics. It seems that the deciding factors in the election was the recent disowning of the Chinese peasants and the spread of nuclear weapons, both of which acted against the left wing, soft foreign policy Communists.

Orders:

Stat Growths:

1 to education, 1 to army

Research the basic rocketry for a space program.

Try all possible ways to reach Late Modern Age, as we have one of the best, if not the best education in the world.

OOC: Yeah. But peasants will rather choose land distribution, and there is much more peasants then landowners...

Don't you just love thosepictures that Stalin posts?

Jason The King said:
OOC: i think if the landowners had a choice between land distribution and minimum wage, they would pick minimum wage, don't you think?

OOC: think about it Jason, you get 2 choices, to get paid a little bit more for your work, or get your own piece of land to farm independently of anyones control

OOC: Oh no, I totally agree that the peasants would rather have their own land, notice I said landowners, not peasants. Democracy is based upon the freedoms of life, liberty and property...so I was asking if the landowners would rather give up one of the freedoms, or to just pay minimum wage. Think about it.
