Story:
The Chief of the tribes that formed the Messipian Union was a worried man. He knew that his nation had been hit hard by the disease that the people from far away had brought. He was a relatively young Chief, but he was very popular. His people, living in their remove villages amoung the tress and the animals, absolutely loved him. He spend lots of time travelling amoung his Nation, and consulting with local chiefs. But, he knew that his nation faced challenges. The white-skinned peoples who had arrived in ships far more advanced then his own had been somewhat friendly, but he was certain that they wanted his land. And he had been hearing reports of other tribes that were not part of his nation up North being bothered by the foreigners from the sea, and had even heard that they had been attacked. His people. or whom he considered his people, had lived in peace for centuries in this land, and they were a quiet and peaceful people.
But he also knew that, in order to prosper, change must occur. All of his people must be united, all the way, as far as they lived. Sure, they might not all trust him, but he had confidence that he would. The Chief had just come from his, well, what he called his temple. It was a very ideallic place set deep in the first by a glistening waterfall that he would sit at for days at a time, sometimes, and just get in contact with his soul. He would get in touch with his true self, and gather a vision. Sometimes, he would consuklt with the trees, and wild things around him, occaisionally, an animal would come through, like a graceful deer, or some fish would slide through the glistening water, and he would talk with them. They were generally peaceful, and always very kind, but kinda, well, not as advanced as himself. On this particular occaision, he had been sitting here for about 2 days straight, but he had no way of know this. He was currently consulting the very rock that he was sitting on, and he had a vision, He knew what needed to be done. His people must be united, and they must be prepared to face whatever comes from across the sea.
The Chief promptly got up from his spot, dusted himself off, and realize that he was starving. He had not eaten in 2 days. He found where his his personal entourage was camped, and they were happy to see him. He was usually gone for about 2 days, sometimes 1, once he was gone for 5 days straight! They were never worried about him though, since they knew that the trees or the animals would tell him if anybody was coming. The trees and animals were very used to him, and knew that he would never intentionally harm them. The Chief also told them of these foreigners, and that caused some worry among the trees and animals. TYhey knew that the Chief and his people killed themn, but they did not mind, since these people were a kind and loving people, and were never cruel. As the Chief walked towards his entourage, they immediately came to see him.
"We were so worried about you", they all said, but knowing that they were not.
"Ahh, never to fear, the trees and the animals would protect me. Now, I am hungry, and I have lots to do!" he replied.
After a hearty meal of stewed deer (The deer's soul was at rest, they always made sure of that), they packed up, and set off, for they had much to do this day. After a while, they got to the first Village. This was a rather small one, with maybe 100 families. The Chief noticed that these villages had been growing in size of late, and that the populations were swelling. Needless to say, the local Chief was elated to see this leader.
"Chief, Chief!", he said excitedly as he came running towards the Chief, "great news!"
"Yes, yes, do please go on" said the Chief of the Nation (hereafter referred to as the Grand Chief, or GC), "what is it?"
"Great news, the tribe just south of here wants to join us! and They know of other tribes as well! They say that they need our protection, and guidance, in these times, and they have been hearing rumours of strange people in the North."
"Wow, truly excellent news, that it partially what I wanted to discuss with you. Yes, I want to see our Nation expanded, we must have all of our people whereever they are protected, and the best way to do that is in one nation, united! I have heard on old saying once, 'United we stand, divided we fall'". said the GC, giving these orders to this local tribe. "Tell them that we are all the same people, be polite to them, and try to convince as many local tribes as possible to join us. Tell them that we are going to be building temples to honour the souls of everybody, and taht we can make this nation great!"
"Yes GC, I wil do as you pleased. a very wise thing indeed. And whats this about a temple?"
"Yes, the other thing I want to mention, I am ordering that temples are to be built that will be for reflection, and communciating with your soul, and praising and bringing honour and recogniztion to your soul."
"GC, that is such a great thing! I am sure that it will make all the tribes want to join us!"
"Excellent. Well, I must be off, but tell the poeple that I came by, and what I said."
(This next bit is like the post-story . . . )
The Chief will take this mesage of hope to all the large villages, towns, and cities in his Nation, and will inform everybody (to cheering crowds at some points) about his great and glorious plans. The temple would prove to be what got the loudest cheers, but the people are worried about the foreigners. The Chief reassured them by telling them to stick true to their beliefs, consult their souls and be good, hard-working people, and no harm would come to them. He also told them to encourage other tribes from outside of Messipia to join, and, in several border villages, he was informed of tribes and villages joining his natioon, which made his heart sing with joy. he encouraged them to get more tribes to join his nation, and to send the army to make sure that no foreigners were trying to intimidate his people. he also encouraged people to have more children, and to expand their houses, as to have a better claim on the land.
