Update 3 - Year 1270 CE
Global Events:
Routine expeditions go on and colonial expansion continues... Amongst points of interest is the Lombardian and Burgundian entrance into the colonial game and the Britannian work on an African empire. Unfortunately for the latter, both the Nigha (OTL Niger) and the Imoss (OTL Congo) settlements don't attract many colonists, in part due to malaria, in part due to the lack of profits there - well, in Nigha, there is the potential ivory resource, but its just that - potential.
Having not received any orders from the Scotian king as to what to do, MacOrvall consolidated control over the rest of the Aztec Peninsula, defeating Messippan forces there with relative ease. However, the partisan raids behind MacOrvall's lines cost him many men - indeed, much many then he ever expected! - whom he cannot afford. Nevertheless, the Messippans commited only minor forces to deal with the Scotian threat, forces that ran away when facing the awesome array of MacOrvall's military technology. Nevertheless, there is some luck yet for the Messippans here, as one of the Scotians, secretly Christian, has travelled to meet the Great Chief of Messippa, offering his tactical guidance and his knowledge of iron weapons that he promised to share (unfortunately, he did not know much about how to get the Scotian thundersticks) in exchange for Messippa accepting Christian missionaries in the future.
(-4 Messippan battalions, -2 Scotian battalions)
Alexander Yaroslavovich has entrenched well and gained more of the Meztuca province, having utterly crushed a Mayan army. Emperor Flying Tiger, who was in charge, was captured by Alexander Yaroslavovich and asks for peace. Anyway, the path to Chichen Itza is now pretty much open as Mayan forces are afraid of confronting the Severoslavians.
(-1 Severoslavian battalion, -9 Mayan battalions)
Having decided not to agree to the Varidrung Berber twice-repeated request for autonomy, the Visgoths send an expeditionary force to quell the uprising instead. At first, things go well as an assault on the last remaining loyalist island was fought off, but soon after, Tariq decided to join the rebels after the brutality shown by the local Visgoth forces (that's how he explained it, anyway). The expeditionary fleet was attacked thanks to Tariq, and only a half of it escaped to the last loyalist island. Thus the expeditionary force is trapped.

Incan forces press on against the Vakuchi. While partisan activities intensify behind their lines, the Incans learn many lessons and act accordingly, moving only to secure the coast and avoiding jungle fighting most of the time. In the open, much as expected, superior Incan numbers, disciplinne, organization, tactics and technology lead to the defeat of the Vakuchi counteroffensive and the fall of the remaining coast. The radical steps taken to face the Incan threat - such as the recruitment of many young men - makes the living conditions in what's left of Vakuchi even worse, yet for now, the moral is still relatively high. For how long will it remain such is unknown. Meanwhile, however, some Vakuchi partisans captured several firearms, and one of the shamans believes that he might just be able to find the way to produce this "gunpowder" substance.
(-11 Incan battalions, -8 Vakuchi battalions)
In Anglia, a most odd institution was created, a crossbreed between a workshop and an academy - the "military research center". There, military engineers of Anglia plan to gather to improve the military arsenal of Anglia.
After an unfortunate accident, a Svenian "retaliation" raid devastated the Severoslavian island city of Dragun for the third time in its history. This inspired a series of similar raids on undefended Severoslavian cities, almost as massive as half a century ago. Many cities were pillaged, though soon enough, some of the raids begun to fail badly due to well-organized militia system and the mobilization. It seems that despite the early successes, the raids are now over again.

Imperator of Trebzond, stating that Byzantine Empire must be rebuilt, has quickly persuaded (with the sudden help of Patriarch of Trebzond) Cylicia and Anatolikon to join him. Thrace fell into a civil war beween Trebzond's supporters and enemies. Polius Mitrokratus now had only two serious opponents in the League: Ephesus, the previous Byzantine state that tried to rebuild the empire, and the Cretan Republic. Soon enough, though, a new reason appeared for the reunification of the Byzantine Empire, and a much more serious one. Using the distraction of Trebzondian forces, Khazaria struck at Trebzond, perhaps remembering how Trebzond did not answer to pleas for help against Tarunists long ago, perhaps just making use of this crisis. The ungarrisoned colony on Crimea, Theodosia, was overran by the Khazars quickly. Soon after, Khazar landing was barely repelled at Sinop, and large parts of Georgia were conquered, though the local pro-Trebzondian tribesmen hid in the mountains to disrupt Khazarian supply lines and preventing their further advance for now. Thus, de facto, a central part of Georgia is outside of Khazarian control.
(-7 Khazarian battalions, -9 Trebzondian battalions)
And Crete itself may not be in a position to argue, as the Alexandrine forces have treacherously attacked it. Cyprus and Malta fall with relative ease and with almost no casualties, but the battle for Knossoss was almost a pyrrhic victory for the Alexandrines as the locals were very patriotic and formed militia units and there was a small, yet determined garrison there. The Alexandrines had also many logistic problems, including just how to allocate their huge army in one city. Nevertheless, they managed to do that, but suffered many casualties due to cannon fire against close formations. Naval bombardment, in the end, allowed them to take the proud city, destroying much of it in the proccess.
(-2 economy for Crete, -5 Cretan divisions, -13 Alexandrine divisions)
In the sea, the Berber War goes fairly well... for the Berbers. An attempted Cretan distraction has drawn away only a small part of its fleet, and no skullwalls as these were very slow and thus not subject to relocation. Lombard-Croatian fleet struck at Tingis, while the Severoslavians, Visgoths and Cretans attacked Tangier. It is only with much difficulty and perhaps only thanks to the respective blessings of Patriarch of Trebzond and Pope of Tolouse that these attacks succeed in sinking several skullwalls and dealing with the Berbers. The casualties are large, but the landings succeed. The most succesful tactics were employed by the Cretans, who distracted the enemy fleet with one part of their fleet while the other rapidly neared the coast to land the troops. On ground, Berbers were crushed with relative ease, despite fierce resistance. Unfortunately, though, this seems to be only the beginning as the Berbers are still prepared to fight from the desert...
(-3 Lombardian battalions, -9 Lombardian ships, -5 Croatian battalions, -7 Croatian ships, -2 Severoslavian battalions, -6 Severoslavian ships, -1 Visgoth battalion, -11 Visgoth ships, -2 Cretan battalions, -8 Cretan ships, -9 Berber battalions -23 Berber ships, -5 Berber skullwalls)
Although Polian prospectors fail to find any mineral resources near their new African trade post, they have reasons to believe that these are plentiful somehow further east.
The Great Rebellion goes on in China, as the aging Tzin Shu is joined by a new rebel group, Heavenly Warriors. Their organized, disciplinned and well-equipped troops are a welcome addition to Tzin Shu's peasant army. As over a half of the Juang army is sent to fight them, it encounters numerous costly ambushes, hit-and-run raids and attacks on supply lines. The Juang forces fail to make the enemy give them a decisive battle, but subjugate parts of the rebellious provinces brutally. However, in the southern cities, another rebellion has begun, while five of the nine dominant Kazakanese chieftains, despite having significant autonomy under the Juang regime, rebelled. Juang Empire is crumbling, especially as...
(-2 Heavenly Warrior battalions, -9 Juang battalions)
...the Sinhalese have invaded! Having acquired Maliam, Sinhala prepared its forces for an attack on Juang Empire, thinking that its entire army was fighting the Chinese rebels. That was not true, but since the remaining Juang forces were spread out thinly throughout the Empire, the Sinhalese invasion still went well (in part thanks to the effeciency Gunpowder Teams) - despite the numerous logistic troubles. Through extensive use of artillery, Sinhalese forcesdefeated all border Juang troops and linked up with the Kazakanese horde, while capturing much of Tibet. Indochina was overran with relative ease, as some people there still remembered the Sinhalese rule as a golden age for the region, though mostly they knew of it from their great-great (and so on) grandfathers. The naval attack on the Philippines destroyed most of the local Juang fleet, small as it was, but the garrison retreated into the jungles and, backed by the natives, waged a bitter guerrila campaign until finally being slaughtered. Also, a minor Sinhalese/Tokugawa Japanese army has landed in Korea, occupying some southern parts of it. The local Koreans, much unlike the N'Dranese people, lived rather well under the Juang Empire and regarded the Japanese as traditional enemies and barbarians (and the same went for their allies), so there isn't any population support - rather the opposite.
(-9 Sinhalese battalions, -3 Sinhalese ships, -12 Juang battalions, -9 Juang ships)
A large group of Malayans, fearful of Sinhalese conquest of Maliam, started an "exodus" to the east, stealing the Maliamese fleet. Those that remained behind are brooding, but are powerless to do anything at all.
Japanese Civil War wages on. Different facitons throw around insults and blackmail material like crazy, disrupting the population support for each other (-1 Confidence for each faction involved). All this left the Hamamatsu leader with the largest amount of population support. The Edo Emperor almost spent his entire treasury and more on mercenaries before being (barely) persuaded by his advisors to stop doing that and buy just one sixth of what he almost did. The blockade of Kyushu - the primary breadbasket of Japan - has backfired badly (-1 Economy for both Edo and Hamamatsu).
The actual warfare is as follows:
The Tokugawan fleet has utterly crushed the smaller Edo fleet blockading Kyushu, but the crops from there still are not being sent to the rest of Japan, though some are smuggled and distributed amongst peasants in a publicity campaign (

). On the land, Hamamatsu forces are on the defensive. Despite failing to get a huge mercenary army, the Edo forces conquer a large part of Hokkaido and even besiege Hamamatsu itself.
(-10 Edo battalions, -7 Edo ships, -8 Hamamatsu battalions, -8 Tokugawa ships)
Random Events:
Upon their arrival, Malayan exiles get the support of native tribes (more land, +5 battalions).
The speeches made by the Messippan grand chief increase the patriotism of the people (+1 culture).
Vakuchi resistance continues, slowing down the Incan advance.
Sinhalese advance in Juang territory is assisted by Buddhist monks in Tibet finding reliable native guides for them. This sped up the Sinhalese advance considerably. A large amount of Buddhist warrior monks have joined the Sinhalese as well (+5 battalions).
The Zulu, under Sinhalese influence and thanks to Shaka's clever policy, progress into the Early Medieval Age!
Ugul tribesmen in southernmost Alexandrine territory begun raiding Sinhalese territory at wish, causing many to believe that the Alexandrines support it.
A powerful native barbarian horde, the Iroquois (defeated by the Messippans in the Five Little River Wars, but now rebuilt), begun to menace the European colonies and Messippan Empire alike. They, amongst other things, prevent Taylor the Red's expedition inland to America.
Spotlight:
Persia explodes.
"We always lived in a powder keg."
- Mithamon (advisor to the Persian emperor). Year 1270 CE.
Ever since the Persian Civil War, there was much uneasiness in Persia. Though Itzhakism was the state religion, an overwhelming majority was Mithraist. Also, the Itzhakist dynasty was regarded as traitors for the loss of much Persian land. It was, indeed, a powder keg, just waiting to blow up.
It is not really known what acted as the spark to that particular keg. Perhaps it was the increased Itzhakist imigration. Perhaps it was the construction of a massive new temple in Ctesiphon. Perhaps it was the lynching of a rabbi in Shiraz, provoking the retaliation from the garrison. Nevertheless, the Mithraist masses of Persia rose up in Tishrei 1269. Angry mobs grabbed whatever weapons they could find - some of them also seemed to receive foreign support in funds and weaponry as well.
Soon enough, Persia was on the verge of another civil war. The empire was in anarchy and chaos, and the emperor contemplated fleeing to Judea. Persian forces could barely hold the mobs at gates in Ctesiphon, and rather reluctantly at that - indeed, rumors are that soon, the army will defect. Persian Empire was burning.
The update is too long. More below.
