Jesus, France has lost her whole navy and is at normal economy. This is just great. Meanwhile, the FK continues to have around 20 trade centers and be at monopoly +6 economy.
Kalthzar, why doesnt the provisional government just kill themselves en masse and hand power over to MacMahon?
In the occupied city of Paris Louis Auguste Blanqui met with Lord John Russell who traveled to France in order to fascilitate the transition from war to peace. Blanqui, and a number of his fellow social democrats and republicans, still nastalgic for the French Revolution, quickly moved to form a government in Paris and declare the Empire disbanded.
The support for them rose quickly in the heavily populated urban areas under the control of the FK troops and evnoys were sent to Dijon to discuss with the provisional government.
As a result the Provisional Governmnet in Dijon has agreed to accept a cease fire with the FK and move back to Paris. A single government, heavily influenced by Republicans and Socialists was set up in Paris, but still retaining the validity the Provisional Government carried. The Republic of France was declared by the new government.
Lord Russell remains in Paris and continues to work closely with the new Republican Government.
a rogue general trapped somewhere in Normandy between a united front of FK soldiers and the sea? Very touching Panda, reminds me of the last stand of the White Army in Crimea, but just like there, romantisism does not win wars.
A rogue general which happens to command basically the entirety of the Garde Imperiale, which totals to some 40 elite (+4!) divisions. I know I probably wont win, but I wont allow the FK to establish a puppeted France.
No, more like the Turkish War of Independence, or perhaps the Time of Troubles (foreign occupiers, puppet rulers and lots of opposition governments running around).
Also, I dont understand why the Provisional government (which was made up of Imperials trying to establish a regency, mind you) would agree to form a socialist republic.
The Republic of France condems the militaristic conquest of the French Empire, and the use of Force to maintain soverignty over the foreign peoples of Spain and Belgium. As such The Republic of France recognises the Independence of Belgium and Spain and in addition The Republic of France issue apologies from the French people as a whole, for the illegal occupation of these lands, and the subjection of their peoples. The Republic also expresses a hope that in the future, France, Belgium and Spain will be able to cooperate as allies and equals.
