The Beginning of a New Era for Eire
"How very unsual, for a King to have to play politics" King Cameron I commented to himself in the mirror, "How very odd indeed." But ever since his weak father, King Shamas, had given into those who wanted a more Republican Monarchy and granted the House of Tuath and the Provincial Senate more power, King Cameron had found himself in the Swamp that was... Politics.
There were many parties in Ireland, like the Liberals, the Peasent Party and the Conservatives, the main two were The Eire Party, and the Nationalist Party. The Eire Party was focused on building up the Eire, improving the Infastructure and Living Standards and Education. They always formed coalitions with the Liberals and the PP to enact "reform". The Nationialist Party on the other hand, had a more forward looking view, always trying to put Ireland on the world stage. It was them and the Conservatives that always stuck together. King Cameron was very fond of the Nationalists, and wanted them to do well in the upcoming elections. Everythong hinged on them doing well. King Cameron wanted empire, but needed Parlimentary funding for his colonies. All the King had control over was Diplomacy and the IRA and IRN[1]. He could establish colonies, but he could not unilaterally fund them. So he had to give the Nationalists a boost.

Some Days Later.....
Standing in front of a large crowd in Dublin, King Cameron gazed down from his perch on his palace balcony.
"Subjects, Citiziens, Irishmen, heed my word. On this day, our day of Independence from the Tyranny of Old England, I deliver to you a message. The Kingdom of Ireland shall no longer be relegated to Eire alone. No, friends, we will take our rightful place under the sun. I am sending the newly chrisenend Foreign Fleet[2] to colonize in the name of the Ireland. We are looking for settlers who love their country. We need all the volunteers we can get! Do you all not LOVE YOUR COUNTRY?" A great cheer rose from the streets!

For attempted thievery, you are sentenced to 5 years of hard labor. Hard labor will reform your character and make you into a model citizen after your sentence ends. The Will of the Emperor Be Done!
For attempted murder, you are sentenced to 30 years of hard labor. May contributing to a legacy change your evil and corrupt ways. Lest you die with bullets in your back as you attempt to flee. Death shall then take you in her cold embrace.
For incest, the most heinous of crimes you are sentenced to 50 years of hard labor. I pray to the Heavens your insidious practice does not run through your blood as it is an insult to your ancestors. The Law is Absolute!
The change, ordered by the Emperor and carried out by thousands of officials took long in the coming. The Almighty Emperor Qianlong in an attempt to rid both the lack of infrastructure and other facilities turned to a desperate source. Convict labor, in the form of felons. Ranging from thievery to murder, these were considered to be dangerous people. A threat to the common good of society, a statistical error in the grandeur of the Qing Chinese Confucian Thought that was what criminals were thought to be.
But no, under the wise Emperor Qianlong it all changed. By Imperial Decree he ordered those terrible felons instead to contribute to a legacy, the legacy of the education of Chinas youth. The legacy of improving and maintaining roads and infrastructure, the legacy of planting trees to halt the advance of the Gobi Desert, and many other legacies they would contribute to. The Conservatives were furious naturally, but much more able leaders had taken the inept ones place. They would bide their time naturally, adding it their already long list of complaints against the Emperor.
But did the Conservatives in Court dare to make an overt move? Would they? That was something completely else. Would they ever make a move? Who would back them? Did they have a chance of success? Politicians have many things to worry about after all, some perhaps ending up in one of the rumored re-education camps in the Gobi Desert. Which there of course were, built by those same convicts sentenced to hard labor. And in an ironic way, the politicians that fought for their release were sometimes sentenced to those same camps built by those same convicts.
But unlike the Soviets, the Chinese Authorities kept their word. The men charged with non deadly crimes were allowed to return after their time completely changed. At least 5 years in the harsh sun of the Gobi, or the humid soaked lands of Burma or Annam to the frozen wastes of Inner Manchuria does much to a man. Very much, they would become more quiet and less talkative exposing their feelings much often even though they were outstanding citizens. In the Year 1741 a man who would stride great steps throughout China and cause great changes if he’s not assassinated returned to China from exile. Not exactly an involuntary one, but a self imposed one. The Qianlong Emperor had recognized immediately after rising to the throne, that none of his close family had any experience with Europe and her culture. None of them at all had any experience, none at all, and he much feared the collapse of the Qing Dynasty as it had to rely more and more on Han Officials.
To combat this ailing illness as he saw it, 2 years before he formally ascended the throne in 1735 he summoned his 9 year old nephew Prince Wuxi, son of the reputed feminine and mad Prince Hongzhou to his chambers. Here, he ordered the already brilliant child to do the impossible for many people. He was to learn an European language and master it in a simple 2 years.
And the language he chose showed his true colors. He chose English, the language of a small French Vassal State. Of relatively no use in business but alas when the newly enthroned Emperor found out it was too late to change. He had already mastered the linguistic idioms and etc and had embarked off to England. So it seemed very strange to commemorate the first time a member of the Qing Royal Family or the Asisn Gioro Manchu Clan to leave China with a decree that if he returned in five years or less he would be executed.
But Prince Wuxi would have an adventure of sorts in England unlike his Royal Self in China. He kept a loyal profile while scouting out England and seeing the sights. The Tower of England (more like the ruins) as well as Whitehall and amazingly Stonehenge. The fabled rocks of Stonehenge were the site of many strange events in the mind of the young prince. He wondered of beings from beyond the stars hearkening back to the days he wandered throughout the Forbidden Palace and entering the Imperial Astronomy Area and being marveled by the stars.
They could determine one’s future as well as one’s destiny it was said. But I digress, the Prince in England was able to closely watch and observe the political winds and fortunes of the Powers that Be in Europe from a close yet relatively far distance. There, showing once more the insatiable Chinese appetite and hunger for knowledge he consumed volumes of books of the History of Europe from the Roman Empire to the Tsar-King Fyodor. He learned to speak and read French and Spanish fluently while with Portuguese, Swedish and Russian he could do well.
He also of course staying in England for 7 years absorbed some of England, such as the cynical attitude of England’s gentry. To his dying day, he would sigh and cry for “England was destined to rule the World” but fate and greater beings conspired against her. When he stepped off the steamer in Tianjin, he had on the steamer large supplies of history books as well as one of the finest scones baker in England. That was the type of man, more like teenager that would take his place at his Uncle’s Right hand side in his ruling of Qing China.

The one problem with that being...the Ottoman Empire is over. The Turks, if they wanted to recognize the Caliphate within its declared borders, sans Turkey, could. And we would leave them alone. But the Turks have no ability to retake the vast lands that they have lost.
From an economic standpoint, it's impossible for the Ottomans to continue the fight. And from a nationalist one as well. The Arabs just don't want to be ruled by Turks anymore. There are more of us, and we won't tolerate it. It's over and done with.
