Hello friends and fellow NESers. Here's an idea I've been preparing for a little while now. An NES based on the game SimCity4, with NESers being the leaders of towns within the city map.

This NES will be quite freeform. You can lead your city in any direction you want, declare it to be an independent nation, even wage war with Bulldozers on your rivals if you wish. But hey, who knows just what might happen? It's all up to us.

What to Do:
Just send me orders on what you want your town to do. They can be as simple as 'expand the business areas' and as complex as giving me details on what you want the road system to be like, where you want the new school put, etc.

Stories are of course, most welcome and highly recommended. They will give the NES more flavour than I can in the updates.

There really isn't that much else I need to say. As usual, people can join at any time.

And don't worry, LINESII will be back sometime in February/March.

Cities of Nesopolis

Farowville
A quiet, balanced community, the first to be founded and possibly the least active.

Allijie
Founded by North King and his followers over the great name and city location dispute, Allijie is prospering on its home island and possibly plotting to take over more of the city to avenge the betrayal of Farow.

Chipton
Chip Sinton's town of Irish Surf Bums.

Logan
A strong but somewhat isolated city.

Stalintopia
A brutal dictatorship, though considered quite amusing by its neighbours.

Kallipolis
An aristocratic group of philosophers who spend too much time thinking.

Update 1

“It’s just over this ridge NESers! Our new home at last!”

Iggy, North King and Farow led the group of settlers over the mountain and down into the valley below.

“At last.” said Farow, sitting down on his pack, “I thought that walk would never end.”

“Amen to that.” replied Iggy. “Anyway, where should we start off the city? This valley looks good. Lots of wood, sheltered-“

“No.” interjected North King, “The big island we saw from that mountain a while back would be much better. It’s defensible, and island cities are, frankly, very cool.”

“I think the bay just past this ridge would be much better.” retorted Farow, “Coastal, and easy access to fish. I like loaches you know.”

“You don’t say?”

“That would never work.” said North King, “The slope is way to steep down to the bay.”

“It’d be just like San Fran! It’s got lots of hills and is doing just fine.”

“Guys!” Iggy cut in, “No need to go crazy about something like this. When our city of Nesopolis grows enough, we can expand to both points.”

“Okay.” responded the other two, “But mine gets built first.”

The two looked at each other with fiery glances. North King broke the silence with a question.

“I believe you just pronounced our city ‘Nesopolis’. Shouldn’t it be pronounced ‘Enn-Ee-Ess-opolis?”

“Nesopolis sounds smoother.”

Farow nodded in agreement.

“What are you saying!?! Enn-Ee-Ess-opolis has a rhythm to it! It not only sounds better, but is more true to our NES origins.”

“You’re outvoted North King.” said Iggy flatly. “Anyway, let’s compromise. We’ll build the city in between the two places. Fair?”

“No, my place is much better.” responded Farow.

“Heck no. We’re starting on the island, and the city is named Enn-Ee-Ess-opolis. All those who support me say aye!”

Rougly half of the settlers shouted.

“Give us a few years.” said North King, “We’ll show you that the island was a better spot.”

With that, North King and his followers set out.

“I sure hope those guys can swim.” commented Iggy as North King and co. departed. “So, it’s up to us to build the city of Nesopolis then.”

Iggy set out for the halfway point he had suggested earlier.

“Farow?”

“Sorry Iggy, but I like the place I chose. It has a much better view, and I’m already committed to it.”

“Fine. I’ll start Nesopolis myself. I’m supposed to be mayor anyway. This whole trip was my idea, no? Anyway, who’s with me?”

A cricket chirped.

“Bad election mister mayor?” asked Farow with a grin on his face.

“Fine, be that way!”

Iggy jogged off into the distance with all of his zero followers.

After the breakup of the settlers, Farow’s group quickly set out to build a city. A small road was made (how the pavement arrived we do not yet understand), and a few houses were built. For lack of a better name, the community is currently referred to as ‘Farowville’.

On the other side of the bay, Iggy spent the summer building a gazebo from which he could govern the somewhat-defunct organization of Nesopolis.

Following a difficult swim and hike, North King and his bedraggled followers arrived on the island and declared it to be ‘Enn-Ee-Ess-opolis’, also commonly referred to as ‘North Kingston’. A small community was soon set up, and after some trials and tribulations, a windmill was set up for power. Farowville would later build a windmill of their own, and claim that North King had stolen their idea, but that is another story entirely.

"Lady's and Gentlemen, we have reached it, OUR DESTINATION" Chip cried out to his followers.

The 100 Voices range back, "Yay!"

1 Voice range back, "Yippee".

That voice would have to be silenced, thought Chip. He broke up the unison.

"We will build a huge metropolis! We shall rule this area!" Chip shouted out. Then he mumbled, "we might have to join with the others"

But no one cared, and they had a giant party.

*Location is on the Wooded Coast west of Iggy's Gazebo, where the river enters the sea

After a long trek over thousands of miles we came upon a valley and saw the land below us. I immediatly saw that peice of land across the river and decided to settle there. My followers and I after resting a bit headed over there, swam to the land and broke the ground on what is to be the mayors house (not the mansion, just his normal regular house). Then started building more houses and farms around the area. I have dedided to use wind power and ordered a windmill built nearby for power.

The citizens and I got together for a meeting in my house and discussed the name for this fair city.... after hearing several names and fierce debates over them, we finally decided on two names that will be put up for vote on the town's election day. Logan and Germanicusville.

"Finally, my people, we have reached a new and bountiful land where we may live in peace and perfection far away from those corrupted fools back home! We shall build a new paradise, where the laws of Right Thinking and High Mindedness will govern all, and Justice will reign supreme. Today marks a new day! The Beginning of a New Era! One where the people and the polis are one, where the rule of law and order shall shine as a bright example, a city upon a hill with a beacon in a tower! Make that two beacons! And a little spike thing on top to cheat that extra bit! My people, we have reached our destination, let Kallipolis prosper!"

"Uh, Prince LittleBoots, sir?"

"What?"

"There are already people here."

"Oh, bloody hell."

Start me away from you corrupted mortals, on the coast somewhere flat-ish, if you please.

That big peice of land across the river..... you know? The mountains on one side then a river then some land..... That is the land I want to settle on.

yes that is the one, I should of said that.... Top left corner instead of trying to explain the terrain. sorry.

It's the maximum city size.

The map probably shows 3/4 of the whole map.

The stuff that doesn't show is water and the eastern bank of the eastern river, which is flat and lightly forested.

Remember to send orders, and to name your city.

I am thinking about joining...

Iggy, where are you going to place my city, or do you demand I pick a place? I stipulated that it be somewhere along the coast. And when do you want order?

I put your city in the far southern corner of the map LB. It's flat plains and pretty nondescript. Though it is coastal.

I have this game too, and I was wondering if you planned to have some Sims made for each of our cities so they can tell us how our part of the city is doing and stuff..... just thought it might be a good idea.

EDIT: is there an date of when the next update will be?

A quiet night's rest did much to help the soul, North King reflected. He had been sore all over from last night's swim, but now he felt, if not healthy as an ox, then at least as healthy as a young wallaby. A sickly young wallaby. Sighing, he left his house to see what had happened while he was gone.

His jaw dropped, and his eyes widened in utter horror.

“Morning, Northy,” a young villager said to him cheerfully.

“The ci... ci... city...” he stuttered.

“Yeah, pretty fine, ain’t it?”

“WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO MY CITY!?” he shouted, driving the poor lad back into the water. “Oops,” he muttered. “I forgot that I shouldn’t project.” He hurried forward to help the boy out of the water, then surveyed the damage.

“Is there a problem, sir?” one of the more competent villagers asked.

North King cringed. “At least you built a windmill.”

“Yeah, It seemed like a coal power plant would be excessive at this ti–”

“WE’RE NOT GOING TO... Oh, sorry,” he said, helping the other one back up. “We’re not going to,” he breathed angrily, “build a single,” his chest heaved, “coal power plant. EVER.”

“Why?”

“Oh, God!” He paused. “Who, in the name of god, ordered dirty industry on my island?”

“Well, we needed jobs.”

“You needed... jobs...” He glared at them. “Jobs...” he said again, shaking his head.

“Yeah.”

“What’s with the cheap shacks?” he asked, trying to sound merely curious, instead of horrified.

“Yeah, kinda cute, aren’t they?”

“No,” he said definitively.

Question: Are you going to be using cheats for money, or the "you don't deserve it" cheat?
