“Oh- excuse me- sir!”
Iggy was jostled around by the large group of settlers. Over the last few months, people had been simply flooding into the region.
“Sir!”
“Yes?” answered an Irish fellow.
“Just here to get to know you. I’m Iggy, mayor of this area-”
“Mayor? Of what?”
“The whole area.”
“Reeaally now. How much of it reports to you?”
“Well… that gazebo. But technically it’s-”
“Moving along!” shouted Chip to his settlers, who set off again. Some were driving large construction vehicles and pickups.
“Excuse me sir-” said Iggy to a person from another group shouting instructions.
“The business district will be here! Oh hello.”
“Pleased to meet you. My name is Iggy, mayor of this area. You would be…?”
“Green. Neville Green.”
“Pleased to meet you. Tell me, why are you settling all around my gazebo?”
“It’s yours?”
“Technically speaking, it’s the mayors house, city hall, and courthouse all in one.”
“Mmmhmm.”
Neville turned around.
“Ernie! Forget the demolition. Some guy called Egbert-”
“Iggy.”
“-Iggy lives there.”
“Can we build around it?”
Neville started talking just as Iggy was about to interject.
“I don’t see why not.”
Iggy looked around at the development with a look of some despair. There was no way he would keep control of this. And he had a sneaking suspicion that the various new leaders in the area were not taking him seriously.
Sitting down in the room beneath his gazebo, Iggy quietly considered plans to reaffirm control over his city. Or at the very least, get a better house at some point in the future.
Following shortly after the establishment of Farowville and North King’s recently renamed Allijae, a veritable human flood of settlement took over the region.
The first was Chipton. Chip Sinton and his followers came from the more developed cities far to the north. Quickly ignoring Iggy’s request that they join the city of Nesopolis, they set up their own economically balanced community, based around the beach at the mouth of the river.
Next to arrive was Germanicus’ group. Following the same path that Iggy, Farow and North King had tread upon a year earlier, Germanicus crossed the western river to found the currently agricultural city of Logan.
From the East, in the opposite side of the city, a character named Prince LittleBoots arrived, apparently trying to get away from lowlifes and various intellectual undesirables. He may have chosen the wrong area to settle. Inexplicably, his followers are refusing to build houses for some reason. Weird cultists apparently.
South of Logan, the town of Klerikstan was founded by and named after Cleric, who arrived by sea and quickly began building a ridiculously sized seaport. In the process of building up an industrial base, the local endangered llama population was completely wiped out. Cleric celebrated this victory over the ‘greenies’ but was foiled in his attempts to become a nuclear power. There’s only so much a town of 50 people can do in a small space of time.
The Nikosians defied all rational logic by settling a ridiculously steep rock off the coast of Nesopolis. Every habitable inch has been settled, and a bridge has been built to allow further expansion on the next island over.
By the time Iggy had given up trying to get Chipton to join him, an even more serious problem confronted him.
Neville Green decided to build Greenville right on top of the Gazebo. After some negotiations (Read: Cruel real estate developers ignoring Iggy’s protests) the Gazebo was left standing, though development surrounded it.
Greenville has become quite well-developed, and the natural gas power plant over the hill is providing lots of employment.
Iggy, in his spare time, made a street connecting Greendale to Chipton.
Port-au-Julien has been founded at the opening of the bay in the center of the city. It straddles the area, allowing it to theoretically hold a stranglehold over the bay. If it had anything to gain from that, which it doesn’t, other than sabotaging Farow’s attempts to find loaches in the water.
South of Port-au-Julien is Stalintopia, which is becoming quite industrially powerful, in part thanks to its gulag system.
High in the mountain foothills is Epstonia, for the most part a sleepy area. Sleepy enough to prevent people from bothering to build houses at this time.
Luckytoningfieldville City, based around the road between Port-au-Julien and Chipton, has been founded. Iggy made a last attempt to convince mayor Luckymoose to join him, but to no avail. In frustration, Iggy gave up and joined a construction crew (though insisting on maintaining the title ‘mayor’).
Allijae has expanded onto the mainland with industrial development, much to the annoyance of the neighbouring Port-au-Julien and Luckytoningfieldville.
Farowville has expanded vigorously, though Farow is still frustrated in his attempts to find loaches in the waters around his city.
And on the top of mountain, Thlayli somehow managed to erect a massive tower of some description. Most neighbours (IE: Everyone Who can see it IE: Simply Everyone) are nonplussed.
Resurfacing after several months away from his gazebo, Iggy built himself a large mansion in Greenville. He declares it ‘fit for a mayor’ and fires off a bunch of fireworks in celebration.
Area Notes: Inexplicably, Kallipolis is not developing. I’m working on it LB.
Also, there are still plenty of undeveloped zoned areas. There is currently little demand for commercial. It will pick up as the game progresses, don’t worry.
