At the end of this month I'm going to be working (as a network engineer) for a new employer, the business of which is providing 3G data services to devices other than your average mobile phone. I'm going to be pretty much 24/7 oncall, and thus am looking at a netbook for configuring/troubleshooting the actual network components (a desktop workstation will be used for documentation/diagrams and such). I've seen rave reviews on the Asus Eee1000 line of netbooks, but haven't seen any indication that they're 3G capable and would prefer a netbook hardwired for it rather than using a USB add-on for it.
Any thoughts/advice about that issue in particular, or for that matter netbook usage more generally? At US$200-400 with a real operating system, I'd guess that their popularity is going to rise pretty quickly.
