I think the resource images are too hard to see sometimes. So I've made them bigger, and made a bunch of new ones for a mod I'm working on. I'm not done yet, but this is what I have so far:

By way of comparison, here's how the standard ones look:

The shadows will be moved into their own file when I'm all finished. All resources will have all their artwork complete when I'm done, such as the civilopedia files like this one:

The new resources are:

Timber, Copper, Seal, Walrus, Crab, Salt, Sheep, Fruit, Oasis, Gems

Any more must haves I should do?

somebodies already done it, but tobacco makes the government go 'round

Looking good! Can't wait to see these in-game!

Coffee I was already going to do. Sugar should be easy enough (sugar cube). Should tobacco be a tobacco leaf, or a pipe?

Oh, and can anyone help me improve the Uranium graphic? I can't really figure out how to make them glow properly (what color to make the glow, and especially how to have it fade out at the edges).

Also, there may be a slight problem in that using these in the game could block the tile improvement info behind, esp. mines, which are small and right in the middle. Does anyone know of a bigger mine graphic?

Here is something I use. Bard camp and colony by Snoopy and also a mine that looks like an Oil Drill by someone on Apolyton. ;)

Yo, DS, coud you please post a file with those graphics?
I absolutely despise the original mine graphics...

Here's a quick and dirty version of these resources. Please try it out in the game, and if I don't hear any problems I'll start a new thread as a completed mod. You'll have to edit your own bic and text files to make this work.

I did four more resources: Tobacco, Coffee, Sugar, and Marble. That's all I'm likely to do.

Harlans Resources

By the way, what would be cool is if someone could write civilopedia entries for each of the extra resources. Then modmakers would be really set. Anyone care to volunteer for that?

There seems to be a problem...
I use these resources, and to test them, i opened the editor. It seems they are messed up in a way... I tried to mess around with the pcx files, and the wierd problem just moved around... Help!
Here's a screenie of how the resources look in the editor...

EDIT: Screenie removed, problem fixed... It as just a tiny thing.
New problem! the game crashes whenever I use an edited resources.pcx file. even if it's the same size and same colors! I even removed the added resources and left just the original ones (in their harlan version) what should I do???

Shadow Flame,
Talk to me, man. What's the problem, exactly? I'm suspecting it may be because you edited the file, resaved, and didn't make the .pcx file just the way the game likes it. Have you had the problem with using the exact same file I posted, or an edited version of it? If the second, try using it unedited first and see if that's okay.

What's the first problem you talk about, and how did you fix it?

Problem solved!
The problem was I used paint, which messed up the palletes... It's all fixed up... Looking good! The mineral resources (Iron, saltpeter, etc.) actually look like they're spilled on the hills (at least with Sn00py's terrain...)
Oh, and about the Uranium glow, it looks pretty good now, but perhaps you could make the white glow a bit greener, and mix into it some shadow and transparency... That would be good I think...
Anyhow, great job Harlan!
