New challenge: domination victories for civs

You have Arabia under 2 categories there.

I believe India is impossible. Research is too slow.

I got sick of the emperor grind so far, so I've been playing Ethiopia and Mali on monarch trying to see what I can get going. I've got a really promising Ethiopian game so far:

Spoiler :

I got conquerors on Inca and Aztec, and Mali willingly vassalized to me. I didn't bother trying to found a religion, but Egypt founded Judaism for me! So I've got a shrine too. I've been spending espionage points on Arabia, but with Mali vassalized to me, I may switch tot hem.

Still only -10 stability. Expansion and Foreign aren't too bad. I'm running viceroyalty with all my vassals so that's a major plus. I still *may* get some settlers to N. America, but I think its kind of unlikely. I'll have to focus on slow expansion and babying my economy.

Very nice. It's unfortunate you didn't keep an Aztec city to produce settlers. New Orleans is crucial unless you don't want to keep the productive Midwest away from the Americans; short of that, you should at least found Chicago and when you're more stable, Denver.

Follow up:

I got settlers to N. America one turn too short, as the French founded a city just ahead of me. But, then New Orleans got taken by Barbarian dog soldiers, and I used my conquerers troops to take it right back. The 2 new settlers went to Chicago and Denver, so now I've got the 3 cities. I also got to Winberg ahead of the Dutch, but they did found another city in S. Africa. I'll have to decide if I want to let them have those colonies, or if I want to take them in order to get the 2/3 UHV.

Stable in a golden age, so I should drop to shaky after it ends.

Are you telling this story in the domination thread because you intend to go for domination in this game?

That's an interesting challenge. What are your thoughts about your long-term strategy?

Well, I'm in good shape right now. I have the key production cities in N. America. I'll expand in Africa, colonize Australlia, and basically follow the same strategy as any other domination game: Get good vassals and feed them cities.

Keep documenting this, I know I'm interested. Personally I'd go for the 1900 GA.

Will do. I must warn you my free time to play is very limited right now, so it will probably take a few weeks to put the game up.

Okay, so I never got around to finishing that Ethiopia game, but I just played one that I consider a proof of concept with the new patch.

If people are interested, I can post screenshots and saves, but I got to 1955, with 23% of the land area, and 22% pop. I had to abort because Rome had launched their spaceship, and I didn't have enough ICBMs to win before it landed :(.

I had willing vassals in Inca, Aztec, England and Mali and the Dutch capitulated. I had the fun of taking out America and liberating their colonies back to england too.

So Ethiopia is quite possible. I'd love to see Mali, Egypt, and Babylon in the future.

I was just thinking that Mali should be a lot easier now that DR cannot be tech brokered to other early Euros, so in theory you should be able to trade for Feudalism from Spain, build some cash and buy Machinery with DR again from France. Then maybe even trading with the English/Vikings/Germans you can even get guilds and engineering later on.

And Rhye finally improved their stability, although I don't know by how much.

I think stability in general went up, especially in the foreign category. I had nearly +30 for most of that Ethiopian game. I want to see how long Egypt can survive with the new patch.

So kbk inspired me to abandon the ways of complete war and since I'm getting sick of modern warfare anyway with the Incans, I decide to see how good the Malians are in the new patch. Surprisingly, feudalism and machinery cost much less to trade, and since DR cannot be brokered, I even got meditation/calendar/code of laws from the English. This led to a great spy and Arabia founded a city right next to my Carthage, and I stole optics from them. I was despairing at getting any conquerors when all of a sudden, I get both of them! (too bad no gunpowder)

Next step will be to vassalize Incans but probably not Aztecs (since I don't want my science rate to go down more), get New Orleans and South Africa, capture some native cities and hope that this phony war with the Portuguese, Germans and Russians don't last long. (Maybe Isabella, whom I voted for, will do a resolution for me)

Never mind, the Malians are still very unstable. I got circumnavigation, got beat to New Orleans, had a war with Spain and captured Montevideo, and all the jails and courthouses can't beat the stupid stability system, and I collapsed in 1706.

And why are Malian, Indian, Ethiopian workers so much more lazy? Why does it take 4 workers to chop a tree while other civs can get by with 3? Isn't this a little discriminatory?

all the jails and courthouses can't beat the stupid stability system,

I agree it's stupid.
