[R&F] New Features Video

This video did something weird. For the target market (ie: Not CivFanatics) it gave an teaser overview that seemed deep.

For us? I have a feeling there is enough in there that can be screenshot-divined that we'll enjoy this week.

Also: I'm now 2-of-4 on my civ choices. You should all get in line on Italy.

Are you saying that we got to have our cake and eat it too?

Could Mapuche be culture-focused?

Maybe. It will depend on how low your loyalty is. You can boost amenities too to increase loyalty. But keep in mind that Dark Ages are supposed to give you a loyalty problem so it should be difficult to prevent a flip when in a Dark Age. You might have to just accept that 1 city close to the Golden Age neighbor will flip to a free city and there is nothing you can do about it except reconquer it by force. Dark Ages are supposed to be difficult. It would completely neuter Dark Ages, if you could easily prevent flips.

I wonder if you can use a causic belli like reconquest war with no penalty for warmongering to to take back the city if not that would be kind of broken mechanic

on the plus side, I'm happy because there was finally a good shot of the Eye of Sahara that I can use in my map

90% sure Incas
10% Mapuche

But I think those are Inca, they are very popular remaining "necessary" civ while Mapuche are "just" popular alternative...
...although I really respect Mapuche and would like to see them.

So, both options (and third wild option it's yet another South American) are good for me.

Still, I was almost sure we get Inca, the real question us whether Zulu/Celts leak was true (pls no). And two civs shall remain :/

Did you predict Mapuche?

Youa re right... and the headband actually looks a little bit more like those of the Mapuche. I am rather sure this leader will be the enxt one to be revealed.

Lautaro of Mapuche was spec'd as the possible leader, so I did a little side-by-side analysis

and look, hey, it actually kind of fits. He could also be a polynesian leader of sorts but who? (not Maori due to the absense of face tats)

I'm certainly leaning towards Mapuche, but only because I'd definitely give the Sapa Inca a great gold crown if I was in charge

Just that it wasn't as worthless as many of us (including me) were thinking it might be.

We did, after all, get the alliance screen mega-screenshot to work on, we got Inca backdoor confirmed, we got a bit more on loyalty and emergencies than we had (although now we've got more questions than we had, too).

I'll take it.

Confrontation between Mapuche and the Inca's, left Mapuche (with their headband) and Inca's look more Roman-like (They should be called the Fourth Rome :D because of their road networks and powerful structure). The Mapuche would also make Argentina far less likely, since that area is going to be populated a lot if they include the Inca's later on (and hopefully they will do so). It also does make Muisca and Colombia a bit less likely.

Mapuche Ancestral Flag. It might be them after all with that blue color scheme.

Also spotted that there's a new "casus belli" in the information era that removes 75% of warmongering points, while the only requirement is that you denounce the target. Sounds really dumb if you ask me.

It is ment as an end game finisher for military victory.

Moderator Action: A reminder, can you please put large images in spoiler tags please

The new alliances look great. I especially like that they are tied to trade routes since this will further reward players for using them.

Yes, those are healthy trade route bonuses. I hope this incentivizes players to drop the domestic trade route strategy. Even the level 2 military alliance's unit production boost was intriguing.
