New FFH Wiki

hey guys. i have started to make a FFH wiki. I dont have too much on it right now but i have uploaded quite a few pics on it. I plan on doing much more work on it but i wanted to give you guys the site so if anybody wished to help out, they can.

I made this because i know there has been talk of new wikis but nothing has ever panned out.

I am not too experienced with wikis and i am just doing this when i get free time. I have been using a german wiki i found that is about a year old but it has a lot of relevant graphics, not so much on info. It is even harder since i dont speak german so that makes the salvaging process a little slower.

anyways, ill be working on this but any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Added the basics for the Lanun and Hippus - both probably would benefit from more, but there's something there at least now. I'll try to get some more added as time allows.

I'll second the request for some community help as well - this is something that will prove very useful to newcomers (and the old crowd for that matter) and will probably even save a fair few forum posts asking questions that have been asked numerous times before. The old Wiki was very handy - it's time we had another.

In particular - Xienwolf, can we add some of the information from your manual to the Wiki? It's a great source to work from.


EDIT: I've also convinced WGET that it wants to mirror the whole Wiki locally on my hard-drive. Shouldn't lose it this time.

Feel free to use everything in there. It's almost all straight from the XML anyway I wish there was a nice easy way I could just cut/paste out of the Open Office version of it to upload the entire thing.

i have uploaded a ton of buttons. i have all the buttons for all the techs, i have the LH's, flags, religion symbols, and some buttons for the spells. i still need them for a lot of the other spells and all of the promotions and units and heroes. i should get those on in a few days. i am going to concentrate on making articles using the graphics i have so far. again, like vehem said, this can be a really invaluable tool since all of the lore can be uploaded in one central location as well as any game mechanics that change, like the new spell system. when the old wiki was up i used to use it a lot so this one will eventually become just as useful.

If you mean that you "will have them all in a few days" as in "Will have them all UPLOADED" not "Will ACQUIRE them" ignore this.

Otherwise, here you go, everything you need for the Buttons in three handy Zips. It isn't sorted amazingly well, but at least everything looks pretty and has the proper name It is what I use for my Manual (quite easily done with automation in Photoshop to converth the DDS, just a pain to get the settings precisely how I wanted them in the end. And finding all of them of course).

The Unpack is every button, the Flags, and most of the Icons (I didn't convert Capital and Secondary Capital for sarters. Probably more I didn't do, just can't think of them... Oh, the little Defense Icon...)

The Hero Images is the larger Pop-Up display versions. Would have included that with the first file if I realized it was the Leader Portraits pushing me over the 10 MB mark, which is what the last file is.

this will totally make this way easier. i found a german ffh wiki and i have just been going off my memory what the buttons are since i totally dont speak german. this will make it easier. thanks!

feel free to ask in #erebus on irc-chat.net, there are some germans (including me) there most of the time and you sure get assistance if you need anything translated.
would be quite ironic if the english version would be translated back from the german one, on the german civforum.de there is an own part dedicated to translation only

I am just about done finishing pages for all the leaders. i am going to start on the civs after that.

EDIT: i just finished on the civs. i didnt add the strategy or feature sysnopsis. i am going to start working on the techs next.

Wow, some of the buttons you have on there are from back before Fire (though in some cases I actually prefer those ones, but I agree that they don't make the best flags, since those wind up being quite small and need to be quickly identifiable).

perfect. i obviously havent taken a look for xienwolf's manuel but ill credit it on the main page. I got most of my info from http://phrasr.com/ffh/pedia.php but it has no info on any buildings and other things.

i know many of those buttons are old. a lot of the flags changed like the malakim and ljosalfar flags are much different now. they were all i had at the time and updating them is something ill do, its just a low priority.

itll probably be a day or two before i get any real pages for any units up. itll take a while to upload all those buttons xienwolf gave me.

Updated the Bannor Button to be the new trimmed version I sent you, but then I came here to set up a date on the first page and saw that you are in the process of doing it, so I'll stop and work on actually finishing my other projects instead

wyrmhero-well its not too hard to write them. I really just write one page per category and then copy and paste and change what is different. if you copy and paste its easy.
also, if you see any mistakes, fixing them is extrememly helpful! thanks for the help!

so i got a crap ton of images uploaded and i finished the heroes page and acherons and abashis pages. i should be able to get the rest of the hero's pages done soon!
