New Forum?

Well, we would have moderators that knew a little more about NES games, we would help CFC get much needed server space back, I mean just look the TONS and TONS of images and long posts we have in this forum. Also, we could let more slide that normal moderators wouldn't let slide in these forums.

Now now gentlemen...The only thing I'm wondering about is...Maps...Will the new site be able to host a map uploader? And I think that people should have a certain number of posts on the site before making a NES or something...This way alot of threads don't start up just to be dead in a few days because people weren't dedicated enough to keep their NES running or whatever

Maps are what my main concern was. We will have to ask Anarchy about that. If worst comes to worst, one of us can just create one of those free 20MB website accounts for their own NES maps.

Heh....or you could put a loser that wasn't dedicated enough to keep their crap running in another secion called the "Losers" section:p

Now, now, no flaming of Sheep (I won't mention who else was slightly offended by that ;))

As it seems everyone Moding a NES is going to be put in that category...It's been 3 days since last update on ANY NES!

Except for mine. ;)

and mine.

Anyways, either I or bn1 will host a FTP server for images.

I think this would be a big step for a more organized and better nes communittee.

Or a worse and less organized one.

I wish you all good luck, but I shall not be joining you over at the new site.

Its not even for final, plexus.

Besides, I dont know why you are being so stubborn. Whats so bad about playing the nes's at another site? At the site we will be able to be mods, set up passwords, and be independent. Its not like we are deserting civfanatics for another civ site, im sure we'll all come back here for civ needs, as it is the best civ site out. What we wont be doing anymore is clogging their server with stuff that isnt even really related too much to the civ game in some respects.

I agree with Jason, but also think we should be cautious when doing this move, I would like to have 100% security that the rest of my posting at CFC would not be affected, especially after Plexus told me the Third Reich Team's story.

I for one am with plexus. The only reason why i ever joined NES's is b/c i noticed it elsewhere on CFC AND it was easily accessed by me. THAT is what peaked my intrest. It's what made me take the time to check them out and consequently get addicted. A move would hinder that ability and in my view stagnent the "recruiting" process.

I think I already have a acount on brinkster... I don't know how much room it have, and if it's still exist  but It is empty, almost (only the chat room I onese made is there).

Also I wanna run for admon too naevrod...

Oh in the new forum will we be still able to do PM's?

I think it would be a terrible idea.
One the NESes would lose an unbelievable amount of "recruitment" as it were, and we would not be able to advertise new neses on CFC because we would be banned.
Two there would be a lot of admin and mod abuse, in that the admin/mods would just ban someone they didnt like or didnt agree with.
Three, with CFC we have impartial and fair moderators who keep an eye on things but basically let us do our own thing.
Four we dont know if we would be able to upload maps n stuff.
So in short, its a horrible idea which would only lead to the death of the neses started by whoever moved, and those who stayed behind would flourish as it were cos a lot of competition would be out of the way.

I'm prety much against it to. But I don't realy care...
And We can't upload maps only from CFC... atleast by what I checked...

i think this idea is LONG overdue.
i would assume the set up would be:
Main Nes Forum
---Game 1 Forum (with game mod as forum mod)
---Game 2 Forum (with this game's mod as forum mod)
and so on.
the main forum would have threads for requesting a game subforum, recruiting and general rules for the working game types and so on.
i dont see the point of having a 3 deep forum system (forums for each player that runs games, and his games inside that).

reasons for moving:
1. it helps a LOT for modding a game if you are also the mod of that forum.
2. games like the wargame system(every nation is a thread), wont clutter up the other games.
3. Allinece threads and so on can have passwords that make the allience threads actualy worth using.
4. with the ability to make the game mod be able to control the posts in the game, there are many more game systems that are possible.

reasons against move:
1. recruitment of new players could be tougher.
2. some people are used to this place and might not move with the rest of us (like plexus is threatening) which just compounds the problem in #1.

things that could make the move impossible:
1. that map thing has got to be resolved. (i'm not sure how big a problem it is....)

not to big of a problem, the map thing. I have found one of my old harddrives, a 4gig harddrive, that I have installed in my computer and will allow for map use through an FTP server.
