New GMR hotseat game, regular players please

I'm not sure enough time has gone by yet to tell.

Did this get reverted? Or did Islandia play a turn? It is almost my go again. That came around fast. :goodjob:

Asked Tab to invite a player in for Islandia's AI. If you haven't used the timer to boot someone yet, Tab, it's fairly simple: Wait for it to be Egypt's turn. Then set the skip limit to something less than how many skips he already has, and the timer to something short. The trick is you need to be around until he gets booted, so you can reset the timer again to something reasonable, so no one else gets booted by accident. Then you can send an invite out for the AI slot.

Russian cannon spotted near the border with Egypt. Whoever takes over the civ may be fighting a noble, but doomed, rearguard action.

I don't know if i can invite someone i may ask this from the important thread.

Yes cannons are online in my territory...i even popped fertilizer on last turn so my capital jumped from +3 to +11 food per turn :goodjob: Lack of rivers around, this tech is golden right now.

Oh my, either I'm behind or I'm still thinking in G&K terms.

Has anyone heard anything from Islandia? Is he ok?

We actually have no clue what happens with him. He will probably turn to an AI for his next turn.

You are now the host of this game, so it should be easy, drag and drop in GMR after typing a name in the invite box. :)

I was talking about a friend of mine. I think we need someone else.

Really? Well, if Tab's cannon is going to strike Egypt, Siam will consider moving on to take a share of the Egypt empire from the other side.

Are you never satisfied? :mischief: Hey Onan, want to take a share of Siam from the other side?

I think the answer to your first question is, No. In fact, same answer to both questions.

Tiny Arabia exists in this world like Egypt in another: at the whim of the Great Powers.

Let Siam and Russia divide the human controlled Egypt between them, fairly and justly, with no quibbling. ;) and then share a peaceful common border, for ever after, and work together in peace and harmony, breeding unicorns and misting rainbows freely about their common lands, for all the world to admire!

Ok i got it...it's a metaphor...you mean a bloodbath!

Okay, so what part of 'human controlled', as in please don't take advantage of the AI, didn't you understand, Tab?

From another thread:

As a rule of thumb we should never take a city from the AI. Maybe a unit or 2 that don't make sense where they are but that's all(we reloaded the modern game because i killed a gs from carl when he was an AI for a turn...imagine an easy city taken when the AI doesn't put efficiently their units to defend).

Please explain why you've taken Memphis with an AI 'defending'? I should've said something when I saw you declare war, but I couldn't believe it.

Other players should weigh in on this issue. We could still revert to before the war dec.

I'm fine with this course of events if a player is there to defend. I just hate AI abuse when we're all here to play with people.

I think someone is taking Islandia's turns. Unless he is in vacation mode now but then wouldnt it say Rameses on the score screen?

I am ok with the war for 2 reasons. I think it would of happened with a human in control and if it is an AI, I want it wiped out.

Just no peace deals for gold or cities.

Islandia disappeared weeks ago, with no explanation.

It said Ramesses in the list when I just took my turn.

Memphis would have been very unlikely to fall so quickly, even with a less skilled player controlling it. It's not just about the AI troop control, it's about the last many turns that have been AI controlled, the builds, the lack of awareness or preparation for the coming war, and so on.

Yes, not only does the AI not properly defend once it knows there's war, its also very bad at setting up defenses for war and building properly to be ready for it.

I think we should put the game on hold until we can find a replacement. We essentially only lose out on a couple of turns, and I don't mind reverting either (but we have to do it soon, before we take too many turns)
