New leaderheads

Two things -

If, and only if, the quality is there, I think it would be good to have modern leaders for ancient civs that respawn regularly. Like Eleftherios Venizelos for Greece, Nasser for Egypt. Other might have more difficult choices to make.

Second, how big are leaderheads? They might be best as a flavor download, like VD.

Rhye, how hard would it be to add some of the leaders who aren't in Warlords in? Like Pericles and Darius.
That sure would be nice, but it's definitely not necessary.

Those guys are in!

The only ones that are out are the ones without a civ (e.g. Sitting Bull) and Hatshepsut.

I'm talking about for the Warlords version. You know, taking the files from the BtS game and sticking them into 1.486 (or whatever the next version for Warlords is).

Techinically, that'd be violating the copyright.

And adding the Babylonians in isn't? :p
I honestly don't care that much, I just think it'd be a nice little (useless) add-on. :king:

install after having made a backup.
It shows all 3. I'm not fully convinced by Meiji's and, even worse, Cleopatra's mouth.
Try to make them play different animations (attitudes) and tell me what you think.

Meiji looks good static but his chin sways like a jelly or something, he strokes an imaginary beard sometimes and when he smiles it's down-right disturbing. I wouldn't put him in in that state.

Philip has much better animations, it's hard to tell the difference between him and a Firaxis leaderhead but there are some minor problems with his neck and ruff. Still, I'd say it's good enough for inclusion.

Cleopatra's animations are actually pretty decent, but I don't think the textures are good enough.

And adding the Babylonians in isn't?

Do you mean Babylon in Warlords? All the Babylon graphics in Warlords version of RFC were either original or reskinned material from Vanilla.

This is the best I can do on Meiji (edited hair, facial hair, teeth and mouth, deleted 2 animations):

try to patch it with these files (picture shows comparation with the original Meiji, much more froggish)

Philip is actually made by Firaxis (in Colonization)

Really? You can see through his ruff and there's definitely something odd about his neck put I can't put my finger on it. Maybe I'm just nitpicking/going crazy.

Meiji looks better now, the animation on the mouth and chin is still slightly bizarre but I think without the imaginary beard-stroking it's passable.

Yea, I meant how the Babylonians aren't in regular Warlords, but are in RFC for Warlords.
And that's interesting, never knew that. Forget it then.

I would like someone more than just Umarth to install the files and judge.
Rememeber, the new patch is almost complete. These leaderheads and tweaks to the UUs (see thread) are the only things left to do

Well, I downloaded those two files and put them in the correct place...started a new game...and in the screen, where you can choose the civs Qin is now replaced with Philip...
Maybe I've done something wrong on the install process!?!:scan:
But the two new heads look fine!

Have you ever thought of switching to 2D leaderheads? Surely that would be a lot easier? I guess there might be trouble with some of the more ancient leaders, although modern leaders would be a lot easier.

Given that we have lots of high-quality 3D leaderheads by Firaxis and modders, wouldn't that be a retrograde step?

Well it depends. If Rhye is planning on adding a fair few new leaderheads (modern ones for ancient civs for eg.) then it would probably be a lot easier to find high quality pictures of them as opposed to making/finding 3D leaderheads that are good enough to get into the mod. If there are only a small number of leaders that Rhye wants to add it may be better to continue with 3D leaderheads.

Fall from Heaven uses 2D Leaderheads and they work very well.
