New Mafia Hosting Queue

@Zack: Oh, those episodes were great. :)

On another note, MartinLuther and I have decided to take Who Killed Kennedy off the queue. It will return, we just want to get some more progress done on it before we host it. IMO this is going to be a great game full of really interesting roles. When it is hosted, that is.

All the President's Men

Host: Buddhafish
Type of Game: Small
Number of Players: 19
First time host: No
Progress: 20%--The concept is pretty good. The title is a working title though. It may change.

Notorious Mobster, Drug Kingpin, Smuggler, Arms Dealer, Secret Seller, Professional Thief, so on and so forth, ONE REALLY BAD DUDE by the name of Jay Knox was reportedly seen in a New York City Diner. Of course, there are no pictures of Mr. Knox, so how he was seen is above my pay grade. However, everybody (and I mean EVERYBODY) wants to catch this guy so bad that they all send in undercover agents to catch him.

Here's the catch: 18 people in a diner, and only Jay Knox knows who is Jay Knox. Let the madness begin.

This game will feature 16 8 US and International Law Enforcement Agencies (Including the FBI, CIA, NYPD, Interpol, and much more) working in mason teams of 2, 1 Jay Knox, and 1 Mystery character, with possibility for 2 Mystery Characters.

I misread the first two roles as 'Mobster Kingpin' and started drooling, then I noticed I'd made a mistake.

Small Game - Corporate Crossfire

A test run for some concepts I'm using for the Futurama game, focusing on the concept of corporations. Every player belongs to one of four corporations, each containing five players. Players must balance their corporate interests and their mafia interests; regardless of alignment, the goal is to survive and make money.

Change my large game slot to:

Star Trek: The Next Mafia

Host: SouthernKing
Type of Game: Large
Number of Players: 42
First time host: Nein
Progress: 7%

Had the idea. Probably will be set in the TNG era for the sole reason that I like TNG better than TOS.
Input would be helpful while trying to decide what to do.

On another note, due to its nature I'm considering changing Kill the King to an NOTW and launching it after Zack's current one is finished, what is the core difference between the two?

If popular demand wants me to change it to TOS, I can.

Or better yet, I can make TOS and TNG both mafia factions, or a split town.

Note that due to my dislike of the other series they will not be included.

NOTW: focused more on plot mechanics, developed character roles and setting, roleplaying, etc.

Mafia: tends to focus more on barebones mafia play.

There is considerable overlap between the two, but that's the essence of their differences.

The Themed Large Mafia games tend to have NOTW-ish elements, and the Mini-NOTW's tended to have less of those elements, but basically this.

And you should split between the two series.

Yeah, I think I'll switch Kill the King from Small Mafia to NOTW. As it s right now its a very story, intrigue, and item based game and from just 5 minutes of comparing would fit better under NOTW.
Ninja, take it off the queue.

On another note, due to its nature I'm considering changing Kill the King to an NOTW and launching it after Zack's current one is finished, what is the core difference between the two?

Mafia:

- Talking at night is permitted
- Occasionally dead players are allowed to participate in a limited manner
- No standard set of rules
- Sometimes very basic
- Focus on gameplay; story is typically an excuse plot
- approximately one bajillion games lined up on the queue

NOTW:

- More standardized set of rules
- Typically set in the Fall From Heaven universe
- If not FFH, almost always fantasy-themed (Backwards Logic's games are the lone exceptions)
- Absolutely no posting at night
- Absolutely no participation from dead players
- Emphasis on PMing other players and networking
- Emphasis on roleplay, story is often more complex
- Typically every player has their own alignment (separate from victory condition), personal goal, ability/item, background story, and the works
- Support votes
- Everyone's role is public knowledge
- Strength
- Practically no games on the queue

The difference between the two has blurred over the years; in fact, before askthepizzaguy came over here, the only type of mafia played here were clue games, almost extinct now. NOTW has stayed fairly constant, although the factors which set it apart have been relaxed in recent times, and it's had a huge decline since its glory days several years ago.

In general, mafia borrows/has borrowed elements from NOTW, but NOTW hasn't borrowed anything from mafia.
