New: near future scenario

I saw no nationality bashing... I saw the truth. BTW, This scenario needs more of a story. Plus how would any alliance of Eastern European countries create a powerful nation? They are struggling enough internally to be any threat externally.

How about this for a story. A series of devestating hurricanes hit western europe, causing millions of europeans to flee east and help to form the new slavic union. Russia discovers a huge source of oil in siberia twice the size of the persian gulf and uses the oil money to get it's economy back on track. There is coup in pakistan and it is taken over by muslim fundamentalists who declare war on india and nuke it. India immediatley counter attacks, but it's democratic government was destroyed by a pakistani nuke and a military junta runs the country. The newly expantionist india conquers more surrounding areas and is aided by china, which wants an ally against the west.

I would ask you to please stop talking about my country. I am fully supportive of the actions of America and their policy on terrorism and Iraq. You have a right to your opinion but please keep it on the right forums so I know where not to go to be pissed off. And that's the truth.

the oil thing is actually in there before you thought of it , oh and both the slavic alliance and russia were a little week, so I made russsia part of the slavic alliance, and i'll have the download soon, possibly today

In case you didn't notice, it's his country too. And besides, this forum is supposed to be non-political, and what you've said seems just as biased and political as what he said. Just thought you should be aware.

bigmeat, hope I'm not starting another OT argument-but I wonder if newfound oil wealth can produce a superpower. Ever hear of The Curse of Oil Wealth? Here it is in a nutshell: Venezuala, Saudi Arabia, & Nigeria may be oil rich, but how many of them are emerging superpowers?

Maybe go with a souring of Turkish/Russian relations because of a dispute involvling the Kurds & the former Soviet States? Not a revival of NATO/Warsaw Pact tensions. In fact, you could begin the scenario with formal end of Greco-Turkish relations. Effectively this would end the relevance of NATO. Greece would ally itself with Russia, making it safe for other NATO nations to follow. No need to dissolve the EU. It would remain as an economic bloc. But the defense of West Europe would be gravitate around the big 3 (Germany, France & UK) maybe call it the "Belgian Pact" or something.

None of these military alliances have to start at war with each other. Let the scenario player decide who to start war with.

I just want to say, before I say anything, I'm not going to argue my political veiws, PERIOD! SO NOBODY TRY! (sorry, just felt that need to be said, before anything remotely political came out of my mouth... Or fingers, you get the point).

I look forward to trying this mod, though I do think it's a bit unrealistic... I don't really expect India to be invading any time soon, but after all, it is a scenario. Based on size, man-power, and reasources, I think you chose the right superpowers... China, India, Russia, and the US are, after all, some of the biggest countries around; however, think as oil prices go up, and availibility goes down, the US and China (probably India and Russia too) will either have to find a new source of energy, or will just collapse all together, leaving a "power-vacuum". If Russia, China, and India could get their economies in gear, and people more motivated, they could be very powerful though (for China, I think not killing your people uselessly might help motivate them a bit more)...

Anyway, look forward to playing your scenario.

Neither India or China have ever had much interest in seizing territories outside of their countries, or what they think of as their countries, or even projecting military power very far beyond their borders. The US has probably invaded more nations in the last 50 years than either China or India have in the last 300

On the other hand, China now imports more oil than Japan and with oil at $45 a barrel and China solely dependent on oil imports then this isn't going to last.

We've seen the US 'liberate' Iraq's oil so that the oil can be 'democratic' (... sorry ... I mean people ) but we could see other oil hungry powers 'liberate' other oil-rich regions of the world in the future.

You seem to have forgotten the Chinese invasion of Tibet! The European's jealiousy of America is becoming quite transparent.

Anyway...this looks like an interesting scenerio
