New patch today (9-30-2010). Patch notes?

Wrong.

If developer does not fill the reason for global update, how in the hell valve can fix that? Publisher or Firaxis has filled them couple days after both patches, but initially left them blank. Its not Valves fault by any length. How other does other steam games manage to get patch notes at the same time they push them up? And some lazy developers miss them every time? (Relic, Firaxis..)

PS. Patch notes have been late on K2 forums too, is that Valves fault too? Developer has nothing to do with it? :crazyeye:

I blamed Valve? You might want to re-read what I wrote.

All I said was that it's incorrect to say they have "nothing" to do with it when they own the platform that 2k/Firaxis is using to exclusively sell Civ.

I didn't comment on whose fault it was for delayed patch notes, it's certainly the developer's.

Sorry, what does 'ITT' mean? :)

Personally I think it's great by the way. Especially with the unintrusive automatic-patch-system of Steam.
I'd rather have a small patch twice a week that fix a few problems than one massive patch once every few months.

Agree. I'm no giant fan of Steam, but I like the way they use it to patch continously. Although it doesn't always work as planned(yes, I'm talking about supcom 2 again).

Just asked 2K Greg on the official forum, keep you posted (if ever he answers me)

as one can imagine things the topic on the official forum is going haywire.

But hey, that's like this since the launch (and maybe before that)

Ok Greg confirmed that it will still be .20, weird though patch but no patch

If anyone plays TF2 there was this one time Valve released a beta patch onto the retail game by accident and it made everything CRAZY.

Means In This Thread... it's internet slang and generally used either when a person starts a new thread or "hijacks" an excisting thread and changes the subject to something else. It is also used ironically as we've just seen.

This is to fix a crash that occurred in Spanish XP, but also showed itself in a few other ways as well. The version number will stay the same. If you have problems updating, restarting the steam client will take care of it. :)

So every other day we get a patch?

Micropatches are the new fad, apparently.

I sense that we'll get micropatches fixing technical errors. Get rid of crashes etc. as quick as possible. Eventually we'll get a massive gameplay/content patch but in the meantime we'll be getting a bunch of these tiny "glitch" patches. A good thing IMO. Rather be able to play an unbalanced game without crashes than have to wait longer to get both.

That wasn't when Valve released the patch that caused the infinite Sentry spawn bug, was it?

I've been playing TF2 since it came out and that's the only particularly crazy patch I can remember.

After this patch applied, the game crashes when i try to load a save game. Anyone else have this problem?

The problem with these "mini" patches is that it impacts saved games. When they released .20 my saved game started acting up. I was no longer able to declare war with civs I made peace with, had 9394934 horse resources, was getting notified that some treaty expired EVERY turn.

Terrible

Nope, it is not Steam's fault, that there are no Patch notes.
But it is Steam's fault that they put in "Rhythm Zone's" patch notes. they should have just leave it Blank.

Yup, I can load the game once, but if I load the game again some time later it crashes.

They release that patch for Windows XP Spanish users, because with that version of the OS the game just won't open, it was a major bug that affected thousands of users...!

Obviously they have to fix things that make the game unplayable before they fix much else. Its common sense, duh. AI patchs and stuff are meaningless to people who can't even boot up the game.

I guess we will not get any technical details?
Would be interested what caused this.
