New patch today (9-30-2010). Patch notes?

This is to fix a crash that occurred in Spanish XP, but also showed itself in a few other ways as well. The version number will stay the same. If you have problems updating, restarting the steam client will take care of it. :)

Promise me not to slack off. The patches must flow.

One thing I noticed while playing last night, post-patch:

great scientists got nerfed. ie bulbing a tech, you can only get one from your current era.

AI fix? Scenarios? World Builder?

Updates to Sid Meier's Civilization V have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The major changes include:

Fix for a crash that occurs on bootup for customers using a Spanish Windows XP operating

... oh. :undecide:

You sure? I could have sworn I used a GS to bulb into new eras quite a few times last night.

Wrong.

If developer does not fill the reason for global update, how in the hell valve can fix that? Publisher or Firaxis has filled them couple days after both patches, but initially left them blank. Its not Valves fault by any length. How other does other steam games manage to get patch notes at the same time they push them up? And some lazy developers miss them every time? (Relic, Firaxis..)

PS. Patch notes have been late on K2 forums too, is that Valves fault too? Developer has nothing to do with it? :crazyeye:

Better than bloodbowl, which was patching fairly regularly, but they never, ever put out release notes for the patch.

Even looking at the tech tree, I would see all my classical era techs that I could research were labelled "FREE", but the ones in the Medieval era that I could research had a padlock icon on them.

However, with Free Thought (2 free techs), Great Library, Oxford College, etc, I had no problem advancing an era. only great scientists didn't seem to have that benefit...

I'm fine with micropatches, but how can there not be a new build number?

If the change is very very minor, then its should be 1.21 or 1.201...but not still 1.20

I play the game single player and have steam in the offline mode. I don't play multiplayer, so my question is .....is it worth getting these patches or should I wait till a major patch comes out to correct the big bugs? thanks

I don't see any reason why you shouldn't get these patches. When they release the major patches(if there will be any, since it is possible they will just release dozens of small ones) you will have to download the smaller ones anyway.

Yup, I can load the game once, but if I load the game again some time later it crashes.

Same here. Early game everything ok. after about 30 rounds each time loading the game will crash without fail. Need to quit the game and load from restarting the game:(.

No other crash issue so far.
