NEW PBEM, my first one, v. 1,61

Yes. I sent it 24 hours ago. And I kept a copy on my Hotmail sent folder.

I'm sending it again now.

I just noticed, you listed me as GMT-4. But I am in the eastern US, US EST which is GMT+5. Please update that on the thread from the first page.

Thank You.

edit, nope I was wrong sorry, my bad.

Yeah, that's weird. When I check on http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/time-zone/usa/eastern-time/
it says GMT -4 (Summer Time). For example now it's:
EST - 2:35 p.m.
GMT - 6:35 p.m.
My timezone - 8:35 p.m. - that's right.
But if I'm GMT+1, why is there 2h gap between us?! Don't you add 1 hour (in the end of March) for summer time, and -1h when winter comes (end of October)? We do.

And still the turn hasn't arrived.

Did you use hotmail again ? I have never used hotmail but I have seen in other games players having problems sending turns using hotmail i.e. they don't seem to arrive at their destination a lot of the time. It is something to do with the attachments. I would suggest you use a different email account.

Are you trying to send the file ingame? Try sending the file as an attachment the regular way.

Has everyone set up their ingame sending? If you need help let me know, maybe I can help.

On a side note, once we get this game going for a few rounds, does anyone want to start a side PBEM game that uses Warlords and the Total Realism MOD? Even if you don't want to, you owe it to yourself as a civfanatic to try out Warlords with the Total Realism MOD. It enhances the game so well. Adds tons of units. A lot of fun, especially the Earth Map. Although I wouldn't want to play a PBEM game on a map the size of the Earth, but a smaller random world would be great.

Hi
I send the emails through the hotmail.com manualy (not using outlook etc either). When you press enter to finish the turn the game save the turn with the next name on the list in the PBEM folder. You just attach it and goes as many times now. I play two more PBEMs and I never had any issue.

Dazz : I just replied to your previous email (1st time), I typed your address on my second message and double check it. Please provide me with an alternative email because it seems your BT email account has problems. Did you check your junk mail folder? It seems strange to send the turn twice previously with no problem, and now you didn't received this turn twice.

I sent the turn to Urb so he can try to send it to you.

I can't set up ingame sending. Please help!!!

I would love to start a PBEM on Earth map with as many players as possible, but it would take sth like... 20 years, at least. No chance. But ath smaller, why not. I haven't tried TR MOD, can you write a little more about it??

I have not received email with that save yet. I'll try later, or tomorrow.

I have not received the file yet either. I think Daz is having trouble recieving the file. Maybe it is in your junk mail folder as Apoll said. Or maybe you blocked his email or something.

Urb, I'm at work right now, but later on I'll try to write a 'how to' on sending the file in-game. Also a better description of the Warlords Total Realism MOD too.

You have warlords expansion, correct?

Ben I sent the file to Urb and you so you can try to send it to Dazz.

Dazz, if you have msm you have my email. Just contact with me to transfer the file.

I'm at a loss as to what the problem is.

I have checked my junkmail folder and still nothing.

I am in six other games and have no issues receiving turns at all.

It will be interesting to see if the turn arrives from urb. If it does then it suggests Hotmail.com is the problem ... in all my time playing PBEMs I have only ever encountered problems when turns were sent using Hotmail.

I also don't have an alternative email address to give you ... all my email addresses are with btinternet.com.

I received file. I do not send the file to Dazz. I send the file to Maydrock. I will send the file in about 15 mins. or so. I'll update this post as soon as I send the file.

------------------
Oh, I miss understood, you sent me Dazz's turn? I'll forward to Daz for you.

-----------------------------
Ok I sent Dazz, the file Panos sent me. 11pm US EST. Awaiting my turn.

Maydrock, I never sent you a file. It was Dazz's file I was trying to send. It is some setting issue with his email. See our email coversation below and sit tight, as soon as I get the file I'll send you your turn.
-----------------------------

My email to Dazz (If anyone has heard of this problem, help Dazz out):

Dazz,

The file I am sending is named as follows:

urbs_pbem_BC-3920_to_Dazz_G.Civ4SavedGame

If your email system is renaming files, I'd dump it and get another service. But for now try renaming the file to:

urbs_pbem_BC-3920_to_Dazz_G.Civ4SavedGame

That is what it is and it opens fine, although I cannot get into your turn due to a password ofcourse. I have no idea what .eml is. Never saw it before. Maybe your computer is compromised with a virus. Run virus software at all times.

I looked up .EML on google. They directed me to this site:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;312355

I don't have time right now to read thru it, but that might help you out. It seems your email service might be renaming the file. Maybe it is a setting issue, I don't know.

If all else fails try getting Yahoo or some other free email service.

Ok,

I recieved the file, but I got it at 6am my time (US EST). Since I'm at work, I will not be able to play or send my turn for about 14 hours or so, unfortunately. So probably around 10 or 11pm US EST I'll send it out.

Urb,
If you want to use the ingame send option:

Before you make your turn, go to menu item 'your details', type in your email address, and your SMTP server is. I'm not sure what provider you have, mine is SMTP.Comcast.net.

Then process your turn.
Then a dialog box will open when you end your turn.
Fill in the email address of the dude you send the file to, SMTP server, NOT your user name - leave that blank - atleast I had to anyway, and then enter the password you use to get into your email.

That should work.

one week and no save coming my way... now I see how PBEM game with 8 players really looks like. I hope we gonna speed up a little before end of June - who knows how it will work during holiday time.

Thanks for advice Ben E Gas, I'll try it as soon as I get my turn.
