Anybody else find it strange that the pop-up today is for a game that directly competes with Civilization?

I don't ever recall seeing any Friends or ER commercials on CBS.

Just get Mozilla, Opera, or something that blocks popu-ps for IE, and you shall have the problem solved!!!

In response to the question, no, I have Mozilla, which is pop-up less!!! Yay!!!

Rise of Nations

It makes sense if you think about it. People who visit this sight are more likely to be purchasers of RON.

Pop-up? What's a popup? :)

By the way, the friends analogy is stupid. There's nothing stopping someone from buying *GASP* more than ONE game. Playing CivIII doenst mean you can't also play Rise of Nations.

Your right, and they both rock.

If someone is kind enough to reming me too... ;)

I think it fits perfect for the desired audience. also keep in mind that CFC is not run by Atari.

RoN isn't really the same sort of game as Civ - it's RT, for chrissakes!

Since I surf with Mozilla Firefox or MSIE w/ Google Toolbar, I don't see any popups either. I'm dreading the day when such gadgets are common enough they invent some new evil method of ad delivery ...

This site isn't run by Atari so it can have any ad it wants. It makes sense to have RoN ads here because everyone that comes here is a strategy game fan and would probably like RoN.

It is demographics. Nearly all of the people here play Civ or used to play Civ, so they would be interested in Rise of Nations, another historic strategy game, too.

There are no pop-up ads on this site, only takeover ads. I never view the takeover ads; I get taken directly to the site through the link on the top of the page.

Ha, I'm using Apple's Safari browser right now, which is also pop-up-less.

Google toolbar blocks most popups. i only get one pop up and that is when i open AIM. www.google.com

EDIT- RON isn't competing with CIV 3. Sales in civ 3 are slowing down because everybody that likes it has already bought it (Exept a few). RON is a great game and it was was released after civ 3.

Well, as I said elsewhere, Google toolbar contains spyware...

If you look hard enough there are spyware-free apps that do the same thing. ;)
