New terrain features

That is not stuff I have done, it appeared when AIAndy enabled multiple features per plot. The new forest graphic I set up looks totally different.

Oh. Well then is there a way to fix it so the ugly trees don't show up? AIAndy?

I remember when he did that, but i thought it had been resolved because after the official release of v 27 i have not seen any of these green trees??

That is actually a misdisplayed normal forest feature (as secondary feature instead of normal one). It is fixed when you reload the game but I am still now sure how it gets in there as secondary feature (it should not).
And unfortunately my modding time is down to zero this week (beyond things that are very fast to fix).

I want to reiterate my request for Karst topography as well as make a new one. In the end Karst won't be needed for a while but this one will be needed soon:

It would be nice if I could get a mixed forest graphic that combines both evergreen and deciduous trees (and not sectioned off either... completely mixed). Pretty please? The "new" forest graphic will work for another tree variety I plan to add to the GeoRealism mod but the mixed one is still needed.

Thanks!

Oh... and one more comment. I just noticed the request to change the "new" trees look. Please preserve the old "new trees" look that looks like the typical deciduous trees if this is done as I will need it for the new variety mentioned above. (I don't mean keep the new trees graphic the same... I simply need the resources for the old new trees).

If you can point to a Civ IV graphic I can add it otherwise we need someone skilled in making graphics.

The savannah graphic was made by editing the deciduous forest graphic and removing trees. Perhaps someone can do similar to make the mixed deciduous conifer forest you request.

Yeah I could not find any Karst graphics. What I did find are the following ...

Natural Springs.

Natural Wonders

- Victoria Falls = Waterfall
- Nukuoro = Atoll
- Klyuchevskaya Sopka = Extinct Volcano
- Pamukkale = Hot Springs

Not sure what to do with these ...
- Uluru = Another Outcrop?
- Devil's Rock = Another Outcrop?
- Landscape Arch = Another Outcrop?
- Sugarloaf Mountain = Yeah I don't really like this one.

Tree comments
If it is as easy to paste objects from another graphic as it is to cut then simply starting with the deciduous graphic (like with savannah) and replacing some deciduous trees with evergreens should work.

Karst comments
I think the rock graphics that appear on coasts could be used for tower karst if we just changed
the color to something more fitting. As for karst? Possibly combining your caves with your springs would work. Perhaps emptying the water from one of the springs too (for a sinkhole).

Those are going to be included as unique natural wonders. (Like in Civ V) I do need someone to add the tags to the terrain XML files though.

It IS on my list to do, I assure you. Its just one of the very MANY things on my list ;)

So one per map? Because things like the waterfall (Victoria Falls) or Atoll (Nukuoro) I could see being on the map more than once.

Then they would not be wonders, would they. I did try and put in the atoll before it became a wonder but must have done something wrong as they would not show up. :(

I agree, they should be unique per map. That is what makes them a new mechanic, different from normal features.

I think H brings up a good point though. There's a number of really big impressive waterfalls... should ALL of them be unique or should some of them be represented by more than one wonder? I'd tend to think some 'natural wonders' could reoccur.

BTW, if we're going to have natural wonders, is there a graphic somewhere for the Grand Canyon? I just saw that place for the first time this year and ... wow!

[offtopic] Did you actually go there or just fly over like i did?

Off Topic Too!
Wife, Army buddies, and I saw it in Dec. of '73 going home on Christmas leave from California to Missouri. We only had time to go to the Observation Deck outside of Winslow.

By the time we hit Joplin Mo. we were in a full blown Blizzard. Wife and I were in our '64 Ford Econoline Van straight 6, and the Army buddies were in a '67 MG Midget. We managed to find a motel room before dark. The Econoline's heater was a little radiator in the floorboard in front under the dash. It had a lever to open a flap to let the outside air blow thru it to get heat inside the van. It didn't do to well during the Blizzard and -10 below temp. We took turns popping the engine cowling and placing our feet on the big radiator to keep our feet from freezing. The guys heat in the Midget was just as bad as it was a convertible. 10mph from the Oklahoma state line to Joplin. 3hrs of driving in that blizzard that should've only taken 30 mins. Those were the Good Ole Days! :D

JosEPh ;)

We drove there. It's not far from Vegas n'all. Had a neat day of it. BBQ'd there and dined among a herd of Elk after being stunned by the canyon's visual display.
