For an early alternative to the Civ III bomber here is a generic Tri-motor bomber- kind of based on the junkers 52 used as a bomber during the Spanish civil war this is for use in early 20th century mods/scenarios.
Just create a folder in your Civ III/art/units folder called Trimotor and add the contents of the following zip to it Trimotor
Add the unit to your scenario using the editor.
I would recomend having it as a weaker bomber perhaps requiring less resources- during WWII hitler was known to continualy demand more and more bomber production, to cause destructioin to british cities; his subordinates increased production of smaller bombers while the Allies produced 4 engine superbombers- on papaer it looked as if the germany was producing more bombers than the british, americans or Russians, but the smaller bombers couldn't fly as far, and carried a smaller payload- and were much morevunerable than the Ailled "flying fortresses".
there is an alternative Default flc included in the zip, that shows the plane landed, but as all the other firaxis planes are airbourne in the defaults I didn't make it the standard flc.
Here is a preview;
