New Unit: Teutonic Knight

Ok, to the anims I have now:

Generic 12/13th century knight (similar to those knights from the earlier preview, but with a more generally usable civ-color scheme):

attackA - lance
attackB - axe
run and default show him with lance, but i´ll include additional run/default anims without lance

Generic 14/15th century knight (the guy from the last preview):

attackA - lance
attackB - mace (sp?)
as above run and default show him with lance, but i´ll include additional anims without it

In that way you can choose yourself if you want these two knights with, or completely without lances. The ini files I´ll release will be with lance, but you can edit them to use the additional anims.

For the three knights modelled after those medieval kings I don´t plan alternative anims so far (probably all with swords in attackB).

I didn´t make one with a hammer, because I´m not sure if that fits for medieval knights (since they are not mainly for fantasy).

I hope to release the complete pack later this week, in the "worst" case ;) on the weekend.

The "hammer" wasn't used a lot, but the "bec de corbin", or military pick, was really used a lot because it was quite efficient against some armor.

Here are some drawing I've made for my RPG. They are based upon historical weapons

by hammer i meant something looking more like that "bec de corbin" that steph has shown :) If you haven't started yet, I'd also think bec de corbin would be better than mace, though I'll use whatever you do in fact :)

Those look cool, Steph :)

embryodead, here´s a little static preview of the two generic knights, they show what i use currently. I guess I´ll not change them, however, I still have to do anims for those other three knights, one could have such a "bec de corbin"-style weapon :)

Previews look great of course :) I generally prefer short weaponry for knights, they just fit more civ3 unit vs. unit combat. BTW I'm pretty sure that knights were using axes too, though smaller/shorter ones ("riding axe" or "knight axe", but I'm translating directly from my language).

If you're still doing more knights, is there a possibility that the guy with bec de corbin-style weapon had no helmet? Sorry if I get too far with my requests today :crazyeye:

No problem ;)

Without helmet? But what should the rest look like - clothes, armor, shield etc.? Do you have a pic I could use as help?

Great! I like them, even in original size :goodjob:

maybe i change my Avatar with one of them :)

Thanks BeBro :)

Here's the pic, The Order of the White Wolf. Other knights from Warhammer are normal, european-looking, just this one is pretty unusual (they're sort of berserker-knights; war hammers and lack of helmets are their obligatory battle setup, though fur isn't).

EDIT: I added text description from critical-hit; lack of shields is mentioned too while the weapon is called maul (but from what I found maul, bec-de-corbin and war hammer are almost the same).

[...] In keeping with the traditions of how their forebears fought and defeated Chaos, the Knights of the White Wolf only fight with large, two-handed mauls and never wear helmets or carry shields. In fact in battle they fight with little finesse [...]
The White Wolves may not care for wearing helmets or carrying shields but they do wear suits of plate armour and mantles of wolf skin. [...]

That´s a cool pic - I´ll make him during the next days. I had the others finished, so decided to throw them out. I´ll release this one separately then ;)

Well, yes, and as Yoda wrote in another thread, all units here are free. However, it would be nice if you credit all creators in your mod´s readme (in case you want to publish you work ;)).

Here´s what I´ve done so far for the WH knight. There is still some work to do on the details, but before I coninue I´d like to hear if there are any objections, or if you think basic changes are needed.

The civ colors are the red elements - I´d like to cover the wolf fur only the upper part of the mantle because I tested it before and it didn´t looked so good when all was in white. Should I leave the rest in civ-color (red) as on the preview, or simply in another darker color like brown or dark grey.

It's great! You even did the fur and warhammer-type horse armour :D
I like the civ-colouring, it's good that it is visible.

This is so cool!
What's even cooler is that I just found out that my great-great-great-great- X I have no idea - grandfather Johannes was a Teutonic Knight. Awesome!

Bright day
I am very sorry for this necromancy. I just found it very interesting that knight (one before the last) BeBro made is essentially Czech one. BeBro if you are with us, would it be fine if I try to sell them to Embryodead for use in Mediaeval European Mod?
May all your days be bright.
