New Unit, Victorian Sci-Fi Land Battleship (31 DEC 04)

:worship:

amazing

 And here it is. Everyone else has said it, and I will too: "Better than bad, it's good." Just awesome. Thanks for the hard work.

Cool :D

I remember something about the rotate before attack -flag not working correctly for land units... Hopefully I'm wrong though.

Class unit. Good job.

steam, give me steam! Evil glint in eye...rubbing hands together...hehehehehehe

A fabulous unit darling, hehehehehe....

Holy Cow!! Even Thunderfall likes it!!

Thank you, really, that unit took a loooooong time to make, and I'm glad you all appreciate it. Now I'll see aobut making some apropriate sounds for it tomorrow (I just got back from my vacation and spent the worse part of the day driving from St. George, Utah to San Diego California through the nasty weather we've been having on the west coast, so I'm kinda pooped).

Drift: you are absolutely correct about the rotate before attack flag NOT working on land units. I circumvented the problem by having the unit rotate 90 degees during the fortify animation (and I basically reversed the sequence for the victory animation), so that whenever it fortifies (or is attacked), you'll see it rotate then BOOOM!!! :D

Awesome unit, Hikaro

Yep, that's a fine solution for the problem, altough the game engine does not play well the victory animation :mischief: ; I've seen them being played only in two occasions:
- when the unit gets promotion
- when the unit enters an empty barbarian village

The promotion after victorious battle has propably three different variations, and I'm not sure if it works with all of them (I suspect it works with two of them - I haven't really tested):
- the unit attacks a single unit (after the victorious battle it enters the tile where the defeated unit was, and gets the promotion - victory animation is played from the default anim (?) )
- the unit attacks a stack of units (after the victorious battle the promotion is played straight from the attack anim - OK (?) )
- the unit is attacked (after the victorious battle the promotion is played straight from the attack anim - OK (?) ).

Anyway, great stuff nonetheless. ;)

So that's where this unit went! Tis gorgeousness and gorgeousity hikaro. Thanks a bundle for the joy of mass destruction! I still think it could sneak up on a skyscraper, if the moon wasn't full, and there was a thick fog, and the skyscraper was blind... :ninja:

great unit HT will you be putting it in your ff mod? :)
