I htink it's going to be either garrison in a city/encamp or you just have them follow your pikes/knights/swords. Bodyguard Unit hits something, Warak walks up 1 tile and slams it twice, killing the unit. Rinse repeat until level 3. Once they are Ambushers they can roam freely. Plus you can always hoard scouts and spit out the terracotta army to knock out one promotion real quick. You'll only need a handful of these guys to make some disgusting militaries out of rangers in industrial (80/65 is pretty much able to take down any other unit in industrial except some zulu corps)
I’m still hold onto to hope that there will be rifleman unit, because even if it’s a quick use the cuirasser is basically in the same boat. Especially since they’re showing off the potential future “upgrades” for existing units.
I'd say the odds of a rifleman are very high at this point. A WW1 scenario plus the fact that a certain future era unit occupies most unit roles means we won't have too many future era units to fill those slots.
Fun fact: Qhapaq Ñan means "Royal Road" in Quechua. They are not actually mountain tunnels. "Qhapaq" is also the same word used in the name of an Inca leader of "Huayna Capac" (written as Wayna Qhapaq in modern Quechua orthography and it means "male-youth royal").
It would be more accurate to call them simply "Inca mountain tunnels."
As I mentioned in that thread, I really don't like such silliness. At least they put a little more thought into it this time. But I still don't like GDR jumping over mountains or going through tunnels. Or going in water, though I found out only coastal water, not ocean tiles. But even coastal water seems preposterous. Would be nice if the laws of physics applied just a little.
But at least they made it a little more interesting this time around. I still can't see myself ever building one unless I plan on conquering the world late in the game. Though currently I finish even continents domination victories around Steel, so how often will this come into play? Sometimes I purposely delay domination victories, so I may try it out once or twice. Otherwise I won't bother. Same with GDR in Civ5, I only built it once in that game.
So, if I did the math right, there are 4 non-civ units not revealed. Which ones do you think that they will be? Maybe a civilian unit related to the religious victory? Or for the science one? Since they added end-game units for the domination and culture path it's a possibility...
Something for the machine gun or helicopter? In general they filled the empty spaces pretty well.
The whole concept of a GDR is ridiculous, so I guess you can pick which part you think is most ridiculous... but having to wade through water would double or triple the required strength of the legs.

It does not double or triple energy usage in humans, so it would not for a bipedal robot. Besides, legs which actually work for everything else would have no trouble doing this.
They have studied this, you know. There is no difference in walking on land and walking through water, in energy usage. It only ramps up when you try to hurry.

I have no idea how fast a futuristic giant death robot with a body designed to withstand combat and massive drops moves when wading through shallow water.
'Gigantism' seems to exert a ridiculous fascination for military amateurs, and even some professionals. Thus, we have the Giant Death Robot, or GDR, which would better be abbreviated BFT, for Big Flippng Target, which is what it would really be. It joins the Historical (real) Military Idiocies like:
IMS Yamato, a 68,000 ton 'super battleship' that never got to fire its 18.1" main guns at a target, because it was sunk by aircraft.
German Maus 'super tank', a 150 ton Foolishness that was about as dangerous (and as mobile) as a foothill. Luckily for its crew, it was never finished. One wonders how much fun a regiment of IL-10 Sturmoviks each carrying 4 132mm rockets would have had working it over, or a squadron of USAAF bombers carrying 1000 lb armor-piercing bombs - if they could sink a 68,000 ton battleship, a massive waddling tank would be no problem at all (the battleship, by the way, was about 3 times faster than the tank - which didn't save it.)
They’ve shown that they disable certain units/wonders for builds, so it’s not entirely impossible that they’re not at rifling. However, that’s very awkward and weird to use when infantry are so close. If they do come, maybe it’s be in a civic as weird as that’d be or they do some more unit balancing and shifting stuff around the tree.
