New UU ?

Sounds interesting for an alternative-history mod ^^
 
How about making the GI an UU for America. An improved infantry unit, or perhaps A Sherman tank. Make it a cheaper tank with reduced stats. The Us were able to pour out the Shermas during WW2, but they were inferior to the german panzer in naerly every aspecy but their cost.

Viking UU should definitely be the Longboat!!

For America, I like the idea of the minuteman. Unfortunately, what I want to do is not possible with the game editor. I would allow the Americans to have the ability to create a conscript musketman so long as they had unfriendly troops within the border. This conscript would be limited to one per city (i.e. 7+ people) and would disband when no troops were left (giving the population back to the city of origin). This freebie conscript would not cause WW or unhappiness unless it was killed.
 
Maybe a Russian Modern Armor is not the best choice for a UU since by the late game MA is used as your all purpose offensive unit and it doesn't upgrade at all since it is the end of the tech tree. For every other civ they're UU is only good for a short period of time. If the Russians had a better MA type unit it would give them a great advantage for however long the game drags on. Hope that makes sense.:crazyeye:
 
i was gonna say something like that /\/\whereas a uu cavelry replacement becomes obsolete with tanks, nothing would make the russian unit obsolete.

I agree that there should be 2 unique units specially for civs that are famous for being warlike. so some may only have 1, or 1 military and 1 non military.

i was gonna say V2 for germans but it would be the same time as panzers. i think the 2 should be at different periods. but that makes it tricky for ancient civs.

Well, it would be in the standard game, but as I already said :
There is no problem for having a Moderan Armor as UU in my mod : there is a last additionnal level of mainstream units after the ones of regular civ (I expanded a bit the modern age, which was singulary lacking, and added one sci-fi unit for attack, defense, air, special operations and bombing).
 
Ok, these are the best things I can come up with (have not read other posts so if repeat, soz)

America: F-15, (Some kind of Tank?)
Arabia: Ansar, Mamaluke (From Age of Empires, maybe another kind of Camel rider, this applies to Egypt as well)
Aztecs : Jaguar Warrior, Priest (Maybe a replacement for Archer that can enslave)
Byzantium : Dromon, Cataphract (Agreed, Cataphract)
Celts : Clanic swordsman, Woad Raider (AOE)
China : Rider, Chu-kan-nu (However you pronouce it, the ones from AOE)
Egypt : War Chariot, (The camel thingy)
England : Man-o-War, Longbowman.
France : Paladin (From AOE), Musketeer
Germany : Panzer, Teutonic Knight (I'm pretty sure Teutons where based in Germany, correct me if I'm wrong).
Incas : Inca scout, (Again the slave priest)
Japan : Samurai, Kamikaze (if thats a zero, sorry, I have no clue what a zero is)
Mongols : Well its gotta be two different kinds of horseman, maybe a knight replacement and a Horseman replacement
Rome : Legionary, Fire catapult (Agreed)
Spain : Tercio, Galleon (Galleon? Thats available to all, maybe stick to conquistador)
Turks : Janissary, Mortar (Agreed)
Vikings : Berserker, Longboat
Zulus : Impi.
