If you look at one of the sreenshoots from the WWII conquest, you'll notice that the leaderhead for the neatherlands is the same as Julius Ceaser. My money (say $10) is on them not being in the core game.

your right- they wont be, they will have there own leader head art for that scen though, and I'm willing to bet that it will be the same for a dutch civ, IF the dutch are in the game at all

BTW, the Dutch fleet in the 17th century was larger than those of Spain, England, France and Germany combined (including trade ships, ofcourse). Amsterdam was the Wall Street of the 17th century.

There's some information on Conquests you really seem to be lacking...
The Dutch have already been confirmed as a new (NOT scenario only) civilization in conquests by both Firaxis and several beta-testers, including Thunderfall ....

The screenshots part has been explained by one of the people from Firaxis (Jeff Foley, IIRC). He said that it was unfortunate that that screenshot was chosen as the leaderheads for some of the new civs (inculding the Dutch) have not yet been finished....

and by saying the dutch had no meaning at all, Holland kicked Engeldn in war 3 times. New york was the first very profitable american colony wich was dutch...the dutch where the first civ that had freedom of religion, lots of protastants, cristian islam, u name it. The very reason so mnany french man fled here suring the times the protestans where prosecuted.

Just because Europe is crowded is no reason to leave the Dutch out. They had a many colonies and were a power at the time when Europeans were expanding into Africa and South America.

Europe is crowded in real life anyway.

C)Even TF is not exempt from the beta test rules, and they arnt allowed to say anything about conquests- I have reason to suspect that its mis-information

D)and if the dutch are in.... well its time to change my sig to portugal instead....

Just to correct my fellow Dutchie:

Although Byzantium is not around anymore, it has been around for twice the amount of time that Holland has been around for so far... If we take 400 AD as a starting point (roughly) Byzantium has been around for as long as the Roman empire itself: a good 1000 years. Holland only became a real independent nation after the treaty of Utrecht in 1648. That makes about 350 odd years of Dutchies...

So focusing on length of presence Byzantium might easily replace some of the civs in the game (America for one )

Good question: which is the oldest civilisation in terms of number of years?

A - Read the pre-views, Firaxis has also confirmed it...

B - I'll survive..

C - What reason?

D - That would be equally "odd", as the Portuguese are also confirmed to be in conquests...

@Gen: For the Dutch any other unit than a naval UU would be pretty silly, IMHO. I don't know about Portugal, but an naval UU sounds good for them...

And just to correct another Dutchie : The treaty of 1648 was signed in Münster, the treaty of Utrecht was in 1713, having to do with the spanish succession wars.
