"Fixing" city trading code, and making city trades "optional" are 2 different discussions though of course. If at all possible, it'd be good to look into both because even if the code works like a dream, it's still something I believe many users wouldn't want in their game. Do enough users feel that way to warrant the effort? That I don't know. A poll could be useful in this regard if needed

FWIW I want it in the game, as long as the AI isn't passing cities back and forth for fun but only when there is some meaning to it.

I don't know if it can really be made optional because of how it's tied into the city valuation in peace deals (which was probably quite broken before).

Hey, I love this mod brought me back to CIV5. Question though:

I read about tribes here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/civ/comments/35ijhj/community_balance_patch_super_review/
There are now tile features known as Tribes. Tribes proved unique tile yields when worked, and if they are in your borders you can build a Consulate for that tribe (in any city you own, not just the city that has the tribe)
But I played two games so far and never encountered them anywhere. Have they been removed from the game or might it be that I am using PLUS map creation scripts, mostly Playing Continents Plus?

EDIT:
another question - can I keep my save games from the version before this version and continue a game on this newer one or should I better not do this?

Tribes is a feature of ExCE. It is, however, disabled until I can overcome some Firaxicide. Someone might have an older version with them still (Natan will, almost certainly), if you ask on that thread.

Thank you! Also the review link mentions that you can get a city working radius of 4 somehow.
I guess that was removed as well as I can't find it?

Do we have an ETA for when a release will be made with these new numbers? :please:

Exact date, no, not yet. Doing some balance work and bug-testing. I do have the new code in my hands right now, and the merge is done, so we're about 75% of the way to a new version.

In my current game (Morocco, huge map, continents, level 5 difficulty, with all the CP mods and nothing else) the AI seems to be acting very strangely in this latest version (November 5th version). Shortly after I discovered all the other Civs and started the world congress, all the Civs from the new continent decided to declare war on the civs on the other continent.

It's very strange to have Landlocked Shaka on one continent declare war on landlocked Maya on a different continent two turns after they meet for the first time. This has been going on between pretty much all the Civs. Even usually peaceful Ethiopia is declaring war on civs halfway around the globe for no provocation.

Also strange is that not one of them has declared war on me. I think it might have something to do with the fact that I have 0 warmonger penalties (from not starting any wars or capturing cities). Maybe the AI is calculating its dislike for warmongers too harshly to the point that it is blindly attacking anyone with any amount of warmonger penalty?

hello everybody.

i'd like to offer some comments on the city trading issue, as i'm the one who wrote the latest version of the code. most of the suggestions above are in fact already implemented. except world wonders.

currenty considered factors are:
- economic value of the city: yields + resources
- overlap with other cities owned by the buyer (is good! don't want a potential enemy in the middle of your empire)
- distance from other cities owned by the buyer (no maximum distance though)
- discount for unhappiness
- diplomatic relations between buyer and seller
- connection to trade network
- founding player, current ownership
- "original capital" status (as it is a victory condition)

This is not about this patch, I'm using the November 20th version (although data have been gathered from this version and on), I just thought this post was relevant.
I'm not really sure who is responsible for this, it might be related to city-value or it might be related to something completely unrelated, but most likely it is either you or G, so here is some oddity I've noticed over the last 30 games.

For some reason whenever the AI offers me cities in a peacedeal it is ALWAYS the cities the furthest away from my territory for some reason, I have no idea if this is my bad luck, the AI being an arse, or if it calculated which city would be worst the least for me (distance from capital).
Anyways with peacedeals automatically resetting to the AI suggestion on "what deal will end this conflict" trying to negotiate anything other than their suggested cities is close to if not impossible. I would love to know if there is some way to improve upon this.

By the way, if this is just me having bad luck that would be really weird as I've done around 30 games with probably a hundred peacedeals.

A github bug report on this, bitte.
