You know, a failed spy mission might be a good way for declaration of war, but not for you. You've just lost your inside access and what can you do...? I like knowing all I can about the enemy.

On the foreign advisor screen, I can only view 8 civs...how do I view the other 8 that I am playing with? Thanks again.

At the bottom left hand cornor of your screen is the little thing that tells you how much money etc. you have. Well the far right of that thing is some small buttons. Click on the one labeled D and it will pop up all known civs... Click on the civ you want and it'll pull up the trade screen.

Oh that's easy enough..thanks a lot Strider.:goodjob:

if you fail a tech steal with an embassy, can the other civ get mad?

Even more important:

Do radar towers work across enemy bounderies? (Say I want to attack a city that's 2 tiles away--within radar tower range. Can I get the bonuses from my radar tower at my border?

When getting the bonus from the radar tower, do I have to be attacking from the radius, into the radius, or from AND into the radius?

I always assumed so, although I can't remember an example. I rarely try to steal techs.

Again, I assumed so since this is what the Civelopedia says (I think it just talks about distance, and that the tower must be in your territory). It certainly seems like I was getting it, although I haven't got that far very many times.

AFAIK the 2 tiles is counted to the tile the enemy is on, since that is the tile on which the battle actually takes place.

Those answers were what I was expecting. My second question about in enemy lands: I used 8 marines under radar and I took out four MI on the desert, so I'm pretty sure I was attack their 24.3 defense with 10 attack, and not 8.

I am playing the game of the month 18 and I can't build granarys or aquaducts in some of my citys, they are grayed out. I am in the middle ages and have the needed techs, as I can build them in other citys. Is this a bug or am I missing something?

That sounds strange. Try sending a save of your game to Cracker by PM.

@ moondoggi: Is it possible that you have those buildings in the build queue's of those cities? I think that might cause something of that sort..

Yikes, don't I feel like a rookie. You were right Diamondn. Guess I got so involved with the game that I forgot. And I have had the game for about a year and a half. :crazyeye: Thanks
btw This is my first Game of the month, and I recommend it to all. It is neat being able to share experiences with other Cfanatics. And a great way to learn how the more advanced players handel the same situation.

Very true!

The GOTM is a great way to improve your playing skills!

Thanks to the GOTM I can beat monarch...

How many years per turn from start to finish? Seems like the BC years breeze by, while the 20th-21st cty takes forever...

About war weariness:
Is there a formula?
Or can anyone provide a link to a thread with useful info about war weariness?

If you want to avoid getting a rep hit in your situation, you would have to have no units in their territory the turn you declare war. That means you have to move your cavalry out, and you can't attack until the next turn. Not sure if you can move your units in immediately after declaring war, but I can guess that you can move them in as long as you don't attack the turn you declare war. I would probably wait an extra turn, though.
This is wrong. The rep hit is checked at the time you declare war. If you have units in enemy territory at that time, you get rep hit - if not, you don't. So you can freely move in units and attack the same turn as you declared the war without getting the rep hit.

.....that will tell you:

1. How many turns to a specific date (2050AD is the latest turn of ANY game)
2. Projected score if you maintain your current citizen/tile count until 2050AD.

You can download this utility in the first post of this thread:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=17550

@xxaaaxx: This will give you a good idea about the spacing of the turns (years per turn).....there are a maximum of 540 turns per game.

Apart from MapStat, this Calculator is the next best utility for HOF/GOTM players, where a Milked game is being contemplated, IMHO. :)

The GOTM is a great game, and I applaud cracker and his staff for what they are doing with it.

HOWEVER, I need to remind everyone that all discussion of the *current* GOTM should remain in the GOTM forum. That's not saying you can't ask questions like this, but hide the fact that it relates to the GOTM. This question, for instance, could have been asked: "In my current game, I can't build ...."

The reason being that in the question and/or the ensuing discussion, you might accidentally give away something to GOTM players who haven't reached the same point in the game. (Which is why I edited your above post slightly. ;) )

What? I never noticed!

@ SPoc148: You can also press F4 and then hold shift and right click to pick the civ you want. This way you can see the war /peace deals too.
