OK, I get it now. :)

Graphics mods are not scenarios at all, they are files that replace the standard graphics files in your version of civ or ptw.

When unzipped you should have a directory called "Art", with files in it and/or sub-directories with files in them.

To install the mod you need to overwrite the existing files in your Civ3/Art directory (and in any sub-directories too). Whenever you play civ after that it will pick up the new files and use them instead of the original ones.

IMPORTANT: When you do this you *must* back up your original files in case the process goes wrong or you wish to return to your original setup. You can take a copy of the whole Art directory and all sub-directories. To restore simply copy these files back.

DO NOT INSTALL THE GRAPHICS MOD UNLESS YOU ARE HAPPY THAT YOU CAN RESTORE YOUR ORIGINAL INSTALLATION.

Sorry if the disclaimer is overkill, but better safe than sorry. ;)

Let me know if you have any problems.

yeah i know, thats what i do in vanilla civ3, but im using ptw, and in the scenarios folder theres "snoopy's terrain" mods and also "warpstorms watercolor", how come they are there and i cant seem to install any other mods :p

In PTW some of the graphics mods were created as scenarios so that you could choose which one to use. You can still install most graphics mods for PTW (I think) by copying the files to the "Art" folder in "CIV3PTW". Remember the disclaimer though, this is at your own risk. (I have snoopy's graphics, and some easy to see resources, and easy to see happy/sad faces all running in PTW).

The downside to having graphics mods as scenarios is that you can't play a scenario with modded rules and also use the graphics scenario (since you can only use 1 scenario at a time). Also, you can't pick up a random save and have it use the graphics, the game has to be started with the scenario.

The upside of course is that you can easily choose which one to play with (if at all).

If you *really* want to have it as a scenario then post a thread in the Creation and Customisation forum, someone there can tell you how.

ah well, thx, my head just got cleared up right there :p.
coz i thought it would be easier with ptw, o well. :)

also, in the scenarios folder, can i delete some (if not all :p) those bloody scenarios? since theyre pretty much useless to me o.o.

Yep, delete the scenarios if you want the diskspace.

This is probably the longest single issue *ever* in the newbie thread, good to get it resolved! :)

Ive searched a bit for this, and noticed this forum is full of helpfull people:

Is there any way to move stacks of units in civ 3, rather than moving each unit one by one?

Also, is there any way to destroy an improvement you have built in one of your cities?

Lets say for some strange reason I want to destroy the bank in one of my towns... can it be done?

Thanks in advance for your help

Peace.

Use 'j' to move all of the same units in a stack. Like, if there are two workers and a spearman, 'j' the worker and only the two workers move.

Bombard the hell out of your town to get the bank destroyed. Or, simply sell it.

Oh, a question:

I caputred a great wonder and it no longer produces culture per turn  All the culture music thingys are gone and the only culture that Delhi is producing is "2 per turn" from the temple.

Has anyone had problems getting rubber to complete the Panzers ? I am having a hell of time building these units.

to get rid an improvement (such as that bank) right click on it in the city window. You'll get the option to sell it. That's a better way than bombarding your own city. Boy, hbdragon must really hate banks :)

That's correct. A new owner receives only the "wonder" benefits of the Great Wonder, not the culture benefits (all other culture producing buildings are destroyed on capture, so Great Wonders are the only time you see this).

Although one can argue the real life examples, the idea is that the Taj Mahal was always an Indian wonder of the world, never a British Empire one, even when the empire controlled India.

Find out which nearby civ has rubber. Demand the rubber (you're playing the Germans after all :)).

When that (inevitably) does not work, gather up all your artillery (you do have lots, I hope) and smack the **** out of your neighbour until either
1. you now have their rubber. or
2. they give you the rubber as a peace offering.

NB if the latter - use the 20 turns to build lots of nice panzers, then go take the rubber anyway :)

If I have a MA with a few civs against x civ, can I sign a peace treaty with x civ before the 20 turn limit without getting a rep/attitude hit from the civs I have the MA with?

That was supposed to be a joke. I wouldn't bombard my own cities just to sell an improvement. :wavey:

Sudden flash of lunatic inspiration....
if I bombarded my Palace and FP city, do I have any chance of getting one of those two to be destroyed. (Yes, they are both in the same city; don't ask :))

Nope. If you sign a peace treaty (or even destroy the enemy civ) before the 20 turns are up, you will have broken the agreement, and will get a rep hit.

Re: the bit in italics - I don't think this's true - is it? I thought that Bamspeedy's attitude article had determined that the worsened attitude from the AI upon destroying an enemy civ was merely the result of the attitude boost from the MA ending. If you're really talking about reputation (ability to make gpt deals), I've never noticed a problem there. Can someone confirm?
