News: BOTM 11 Results and Congratulations

It's fixed now. You caught me with a typo while I was in the middle of enhancing it to cope with the situation when someone has more than one Eptathlon - see the effect in the Civ4 and Warlords tables.

You can actually see the problem in the tags you posted. One lousy white space character between '<' and 'td'

Great! Almost all looks OK now except Jesusin's awards score in CIV4. I see 7/6 instead of 13/6 and similar for Jeffa in BTS table.
Seems you count pictogramms only in a 1-st string.

Now you're mixing up quantity with number of instances. That says that if jesusin wanted to have a double eptathlon, he has met the requirements in only one discipline (culture).

Lexad got it right. :goodjob:

I believe my logic is impeccable. The fraction indicates the player's progress towards each eptathlon.

jesusin has six awards that contributed to his first Civ4 eptathlon, plus an additional culture award that will count towards his second eptathlon; a total of 7 sixths of an eptathlon. The fact that he has another six culture awards doesn't help him to make progress towards the next eptathlon. If and when he achieves his second eptathlon, one of his "surplus" culture awards will immediately be added, making his total 13 sixths.

There. That should be as clear as mud :)

Congrats to the winners, mainly to Harbourboy!

And thanks to the staff for one more nice game.

Pity XotM are cursed for me, i made some initial mistake, a well prepared but badly executed war with Celtia and i found myself 63rd out of 98, in a game where i own some HoF spots.

Bah, i'll try again with BotM 12.

Hehe...no love/special considerations for the challenger class :p?

I am also the proud owner of the fastest victory in terms of "time played" ;). Speed run!

Congrats all.

We don't have the nifty starting location analyzer this time?

Is that because of ZPV who succeded in breaking it?

The numbers by each player's name indicate the turn settled on (starting turn is 0). Players are colour coded by game class (challenger=red, adventurer=blue). Symbols indicate victory condition, if there's no symbol then the player either retired or was defeated. The yellow border indicates the land that was visible at the start of the game.

An unusual game in that relatively few people settled in-place. Seems to me there were two main groups: People who moved North to one of the high food tiles, and people who moved 1S, presumably to make space for the high-food area as a later (GPP?) city. A few people moved further away, with some choices that I'm intrigued about, since they look to me like settling in quite poor locations when you know there are better locations. Jesusin must top that list :)! (Fastest spaceship from such a low-food capital and starting 7 turns late?!? What does Jesusin know that the rest of us don't ). And @kcd_swede / zagnut / Deckhand. Why? Were you trying to avoid food?

Oh, come on, don't tell me you don't know the famous 7-turns-late, choose-the-foodless-location gambit

If you really don't, just read my what have I done?! spoilers

I understand why you didn't take the challenger save, you devised your own handicap ;)

Err... Sorry . Looks like I have been punished by having my game excluded. :p

Then again, since I was so far away, any comparison is probably meaningless.

The nifty starting location analyzer (I like that description ;)) was delayed because, although the actual generation of the image is automatic, I still have to download the data and then upload the image and manually post, so it depends on me being available :)

ZPV wasn't in the image because it never crossed our minds that anyone would settle as late as turn 12, and so our software doesn't look for cities founded so late! So yeah, if you like, you've been punished by excommunication from the map! :mischief:

ZPV's result is in the Results for this game, and he is mentioned in dispatches in the first posts here as the Fastest Diplo award winner.

His first city is not in DS's image because it uses a list that is generated by a script. I wrote the script, and used an arbitrary limit of ten turns as a reasonable time for all first cities to have been founded. ZPV has proved that to be inadequate - he settled on turn 12!

ZPV founded twice as far away from the start as Jesusin, in the same general direction. I don't know what that would do to DS's image, which would have to be nearly twice as wide as it is now, or half the resolution.

I'd expect that both ZPV and me had learned from our mistakes.

Don't settle too late, you'll get an award, don't settle too late ,, you'll get an award, don't settle too late ,, you'll get an award, don't settle too late ,, you'll get an award, don't settle too late ,, you'll get an award, don't settle too late...

I sincerelly hope I won't do it again, now :please:

Don't worry, you'll forget your good advice to yourselves by the next time Deity rolls around... ;)
