BOTM 59: Peter and the Mongol hordes

I am not pleased with myself for failing to know that very fast conquest victories and losses were possible. But on the other hand, I am mightily impressed that all of the top ten finishers made scores with six digits! And we have 4 new ALL-TIME FASTEST awards!!!
So, without a settler to start with, it was kind of an experiment. Most of you seemed to have some fun with it, so as that is the main objective of these friendly competitions, mission accomplished!

sossos takes the gold medal with his spaceship victory. However, the fastst diplomatic victory by Duckweed was very very close to stealing that gold medal, and instead gets the silver with an ALL-TIME FASTEST diplo. bcool takes the bronze with his spaceship.

So one weird side effect is that domination/conquest victories are completely left out of the medals, but not by much... shulec only needed a handful of points to get a medal to go with his Moooooooo - domination.

Neilmeister was fastest to reach domination, and Rajaat fastest to acheive Conquest--yes that's another ALL-TIME FASTEST, btw (though to be fair, I must add that a lot of conquests were seperated by just a few turns).

Htadus excellent culoture victory was another beneficiary of the experiment, as other culture contenders achieved accidental conquest, but that in no way diminishes his fine effort.

Conquistador63 gave us a very impressive spaceship finish date, another ALL-TIME FASTEST record.

And Wastintime gave us the fastest religious victory, AND SET A NEW "ALL-TIME FASTEST" record in the process. Wooohoo!!!!

Congrats to all the new players, its great to see a lot of interest in the game. Hope you enjoyed it. Good job, everyone!:goodjob:

Oh yeah... Here is where everyone settled:

Thanks kcd, it was an interesting game!

Fastest domination  I'll take that. Congrats to all the record breakers

Thanks for a very interesting map, good for learning how to manage the over-expansion in ancient era. The records achieved in this game would be extremely hard to break.

I'll have to take the adventurer save next time. Nooble is clearly above my abilities.*

I just looked at the victories sorted by date. The range is incredible - no less than thirteen BC victories, the earliest by Rajaat in 3280BC - pretty amazing, and at the other end Mastiff_of_Ar's time victory (not often we see those) in 2050AD! I don't think I've ever seen a game before with victories spread out over so nearly the entire game.

600 hours?

I think he just doesn't like turning off civilization... is it even possible in the timeframe of botm?

Thanks for the interesting scenario kcd swede! :goodjob: I had fun playing the map (even got #10 to boot ) I tend to judge maps on creativity and your effort was outstanding...looking forward to your next BOTM scenario. :)

Yeah, Duck's Diplo win is just fascinating. Ok...off to go study it intensely :)

In fact, not totally. Because of Keshiks, the game we all had was almost comparable to a HoF game at Chieftain/Warlord where we captured undefended capitals.

I have played some normal speed games like that and approaching <500 AD is really feasible. Getting free capitals like this game allowed is simply breaking the usual balance and hasten enormously the typical game's slow start.

And Complete kill, I think, helps a lot as surviving units allow possibility to give back cities later, but doesn't force the player to spare the AI capitals early game.

Duckweed
's deity games are more impressive to me.

And shame I didn't try this one after longer; that was my chance for a cultural award lol.

@sossos

You're doing really well on multiple victories. That is sign of a balanced player; I understand your feeling awards are easy to collect.

My computer is always on, so I just minimize the game. :)

I probably could have won another way, but I thought I might be the only time victory. :crazyeye:

Wow, that is my first ever reward :) And I registered and played on and off here for longer than most. Thank you!

The game was fun, but short. I'd appreciate a similar challenge/scenario where you start with an army and have to preserve it and achieve a goal. I'm much better at that than the traditional build up.
