I know many of you were getting concerned about the recent sound of silence from civ_steve. You will be as relieved as I was to hear that he has now contacted me, and he is recovering from a severe back injury. He has been unable to sit, and has certainly not been able to type to contact us.

He is now on the mend, but still very stiff. He hopes to be back in the business of making games for the Civ3 community very soon.

Meanwhile, PaperBeetle has generously offered to put a map together for COTM 85 this weekend, and I'll try to release it early next week.

Please join me in wishing civ_steve a full and rapid recovery. If you manage to read this, Steve, please don't come back before you are ready. :)

Yes! I hope you get a speedy recovery and that you get well soon civ_steve!

That is a relief. I calculated that either Steve must be in serious trouble, or must be seriously sick of us. And both options sounded pretty bad! Get well soon, Steve.

All the best to our captain!

Yes, from me as well: get well soon, civ_steve, and don't come back and work on GOTM games, before your have fully recovered and caught up with your real life obligations...!

Also a big  to PaperBeetle for volunteering to put a game together for COTM85! (I know it must be hard for you not being able to compete...)

More news: civ_steve is adamant that he can put together the next game. and wants to do so. That will now happen in the next day or two.

I have thanked PaperBeetle for his selfless offer to help to create the game. It was very much appreciated by all of us. It now looks as if he will be able to join in and compete in the next game after all.

Thanks, everyone, for the well wishes! I'm not sure what I did, but my back let me know it wasn't happy. :( I spent about 5 days doing nothing but lying down most of the day; sitting up was really painful and almost impossible. Gradually it has gotten better. I'm trying to get caught up in all sorts of things, so finally I'm getting to the Civ3 games. COTM86 is out, and I should get GOTM117 out later this weekend (probably Sunday). I've missed a lot of things, and I'm glad to be "back". :)

All I can say from this is I'm a lot more conscious of my posture and how I move around because of this - I don't want a repeat!!! It's amazing how much your back's status affects your life; like just about everything.

:salute: Well, it's a relief that you're back, Steve. And I was a bit nervous about how, as probably GotM's slowest player, I was going to build and test a CoTM over a weekend. But my offer still stands: I'll try and work on designing a couple of games on the back burner, so if you want or need to take a break from the schedule, please let me know.
