GOTM 85 Pre-Game Discussion

Last month's Warlord level GOTM turned out to be a pretty good challenge! This month the game goes up to Regent, and a more 'standard' Archipelago map set-up (at least the settings look pretty standard :) ). England is the civ, so prepare to sail the seven seas and clear them of those pesky AI pirates!

Civilization: England
Rivals: 7 preset
Barbarians: Roaming
Difficulty: Regent
Land Form: Archipelago, 70% ocean, Standard map.
Geology: 5 billion years old, Normal, Temperate

How about moving the Settler SW and start chopping that Forest at once? We need a Granary, so in predator class research Pottery.

It sounds good and I should perhaps know better than to argue with someone armed with spreadsheets (although that comment sounded stragely spontaneous :).) My first scout move will be towards the grass and if it finds extra food nearby the matter is resolved. If not, I'm not sure about searching even further... Wait! That's wheat N,NE, isn't it? It seems to sit on plains though, so no four-turner in despotism on the starting location.

Why not just chop the forest off that game 2SW? ;)

I would settle right where we start. The deer will help with food without having to wait for CG. I think we have ourselves a good settler factory, with all the forests , the ivory, the hill, plus the lake for irrigation, and the game and wheat.
