Next patch anticipation thread

So if someone hits you in the face, you hit him back?

That's the most childish thing I ever heard.
As a kid I would have let it go. Said nothing and did nothing. As an adult it would depend on the situation but more then likely if someone hit me in the face the would be deserving of much worse the a hit back. Your analogy is extreme is there another way to compare the situation you can think of? I'm typically a very nice person but the things that these 2 companies do its ridiculous. Do you not feel that consumers should be protected?

No patch today.

I don't have the same technical-tea-leaf reading skills as some of the other prognosticators, but I'm hopeful for something today. I could totally see the higher-ups requesting that this DLC get out for the long weekend...

I'll be refreshing this thread all day long, again, so keep the forecasts coming!

As a manager of a software development team - I would never push for a Friday release before a long weekend. No one wants to be on the hook for last minute emergency support like that. With no release yesterday, next Thursday is my bet.

That's why I'm keeping my forecast for today pretty low. Fridays and Mondays are usually low output. But they have done some First Look videos on Fridays and Mondays, so it isn't totally out of the question.

Exactly. Also they might not even be working today as they could have left early yesterday and release the early QA.

On the other hand I doubt it would even matter because I have NEVER known Firaxis to release a patch and then hotfix something. Does anyone remember the civ4 and AMD card fiasco?

That's a good point. They seem to have fixed patch dates, and if something isn't quite fixed or implemented, they release it anyway with the hopes of getting it right in the next patch. That's how it is when corporate calls the shots.

Well I do remember them hot fix stuff. With civ 5, we once got a patch that changed ai turn calculations which caused a lot of crashes on several machines so they hot fixed it a week or so later.

But the point is, they wouldn't do it quickly after the problem was created.

That's weird considering in the past new releases were always released on the Friday. Presumably so they didn't have to answer all the queries & problems that would turn up.

new mac aq should be a new linux one here in 5 mins
Soooo. 30 minutes later and the Linux one is still not up. Quick fix for a Mac problem? Or hard fix for the Linux version?

I couldnt imagine a hard fix unless there is a bug that involves the core engine/linux system at this point unless this patch has a engine upgrade (which they will never tell us). BTW what engine is used, is it unity or custom?

Reason I say is because they have had awhile to work on the Linux version and it seems once Firaxis makes the game then Aspyr ports it over or whatever.

Custom.

That's what I was thinking. Only updating one version would indicate that the Linux version (and probably the PC version) are where they want them while the Mac had an isolated problem that needed to be resolved quickly.

On the other hand, maybe the guy who uploads it to Steam went to lunch and will get it up when he gets back.

Nevermind, it's up now.

2, 3 days ago my understanding of overall opinion was: small chance for 16.2., bigger chance for 23.2. ...

Would give now the possibility to relax a bit, even do some RL issues. I suspect, holding the breath so frequently will lead to short breath sooner or later.

It pretty much still is. I would put today's chance at no more that 10%, while next Tuesday I would say 45% increasing linearly to 90% on next Thursday.

I just like to keep an eye on it out of obsessive curiosity. I report my observations here because people seem to appreciate it.
