Since dips do not cost support, I presume the reason for rehoming them is just to keep track of them more easily (each homed in a different city).

We should have the diplomat supported by the city that is the safest, i.e. most unlikely to be captured or destroyed by enemies. We lost OP, and losing another city is not outruled:(
 
Dip home cities? Well, yes, I think safety of home city is a good point, and I also think we should resolve to have a Daring Dip somewhere, homed to Monks Towne :goodjob: and Castle Jayne :goodjob:

I have been studying our Settlers ... 15 of them:

None Settler, near RC, irrigating a GLS, GrassLand Shield.
  We also want to Irrigate the Phoenix Pheasant into Buffalo.
Civvium, if it built a Settler, could irrigate quite a bit.
  I am worried about Beast Flats. Its Food Box is empty.
LN Settler, irrigating NW of LN, may be better to Clear.Orders
  Move W to GG Plains, and irrigate there, so GG can grow?
CJ Settler, irrigating Grassland neaw Elysium, may be better to Clear.Orders
  Move NW to Elysium GLS to irrigate there, then Road?
  Elysium grows in 4 turns, exciting!
Neuma Settler, irrigating GLS near CJ, seems good to me.
Ebor Settler, in Boreum Ferry, heading to found Wheat South w Dip,
  Legion rehomed in Mord to follow ASAP
Octavia Settler, irrigating GLS near Octavia, seems good to me,
  because both Castle Jayne and Octavia are building more settlers.
Khorsabad, move N and found city, then RB the Disband Settler.

Banana Bay Settler, on river near Ren, needs a mission. Banana Bay is too small, choked supporting two settlers, needs to grow. Let's found Lone Bison, on its own teeny island.

Dellham Settler, irrigating River Plains S of Dellham, seems a good idea?
Note the Dell Archer is in Cymru Straits. Let's sail with the RC Silk, but land separately. Perhaps the NE Mountain? Or the Hill NW of chosen Plains City Site?
Ren TFalls Settler Team, heading to found Hill Mine. This is a dangerous spot, it seems best to Road out to the site before founding the city. It takes 10 turns to Mine a Hill. Therefore, the Ren Settler needs to arrive at the site, Hill NE of Fish, about 2-6 turns before the TFalls Settler. The TFalls Settler will arrive second and build the city after mining has begun. Ren Settler could move NW and Road the desert first.

Banana Bay Settler, Irrigating SW of BB. Seems ok, but will not be used for 10 turns, maybe more. Another idea to to Clear.Orders, S S charge, SW Irrigate Plains (N of FA), since FA will grow in 6 turns and then lock - it needs a irrigation, and will remain happy, is ready.

Viborg Settler, SW SW charge, SW connect road on Plains.
Lindow Moss Settler, Road NW of LM. Then go found V3.
  Lindow Moss could therefore build another Settler.

If we have 15 Settlers, I missed one somewhere. :crazyeye:

Mord Settler in 1 ... then what shall the settler do? Sail?
Monks Towne Settler in 2, SE Irrigate then Road Bridge.
 
Can someone list any units which absolutely must be rehomed/garrisoned before revolution? I don't want to lose any units because I've missed something!
 
I'll have a look at that Jayne, maybe tonight, otherwise tomorrow morning.
There are a couple of things to keep in mind when switching to republic, not only does every unit cost 1 shield but also every settler costs 2 food so I'll have a close look at that!
 
Isaac is winning the poll, also Caravan Deliveries from RC and Elysium to India.

Max Science for Caravan Deliveries: applies if the commodity is demanded, otherwise turn around and save the Caravan. Put all available serfs to Max Trade work, scientist into ocean, road serfs to ocean, keep Silk Gems and Wine, anything with more arrows than ocean. Then Deliver the Caravan and put the serfs imediately back to normal (Scientist, Roads etc).

According to the poll in the "Republic yes or no?" thread we are going to switch to republic. To do so please revolt in 920AD and you will be able to switch to republic in 940AD.

A few recommended unit rehomings are in this post.
 
I wish I had more time for this now. I looked at Civ1's list of rehoming, and I'm not sure about all of them. Why rehome the LN Phx in RC? It's surely a good idea to rehome the LN Warrior in Khors South. There is no unhappiness when a unit is in another city, so it's not always necessary to rehome to current location.

I have a post above, Support Plans for Republic. I will prepare a composite Immediate change & build queue now.

Generally, we are stockpiling Caravans for Isaac (then Magellan), Need Science Gravity, building Caravans and Knights, Irrigating, and switching to Republic in 920AD. Temples: Viborg, Routskilde, definitely! (A)

Please disregard many of the Civ1 Rehoming changes.
  One good one is the LN Warrior, rehome in Khors South.

Send Boreum Ferry SE now, drop the Settler and Dip at the Wheat South "D" Site, and start a Settler I guess. Octavia can build Settler after Settler, we have so many island sites up here. Also, let's keep that MD Caraval as a ferry , indefinitely.

We have 2 Caravels near Bactra. The close one, Civvium, is needed to ferry a Caravan from Beast Flats. So let's drop the Warrior and dash back, tardy, but better late than never.

Recall the Udal Trireme, near Spanish to Banana Bay, units there.

Then choose Republic, please touch W (Wait) for all units (so we can see what the Settlers completed), then please save for discussion.

And the Caravans. First is Marl Downs Salt, iirc, deliver at Max Trade to Elysium. Second is RC Silk, awaiting new Caraval in Cymru Straits, also Dellham Archer, deliver Silk to Dehli if demanded, drop Archer on Indian Peninsula we wish to claim. Third Caravan is Civvium Silver, deliver to RC at Max Trade.
Other Caravans, several near LC and whatnot, generally proceed to GG and LN area.

Generally, be wary of the AI Mayors' placement of new serfs on Fish. Usually, we want the Whale, Forest, Road, you know.
 
Our Duke and Civ1 have commented in the Republic poll.

Banana Bay is tight. Rehoming the Settler and then go found Lone Bison may be necessary. Reneaux would work.

Udal: will grow. Settler SW SW Irrigate, then go found a city.
Monks Towne: good catch! We have a charged settler nearby, could Clear.Orders and go irrigate the River for MT right now.
Viborg: too bad, but all will survive, we can fix it later.
Mord: maybe Caravan instead of Settler? Or Rehome Octavia, as Civ1 has recommended?
Marl Downs: temporary, Legion is being rehomed to Mord right now.
Neuma: rehome Warrior in Ebor, as Civ1 has recommended.

Take care of everything now? I think so. Now 3 of us have studied this and posted, and others have studied and see nothing else critical (I hope!)
