Pacioretty is going to make the team

Honestly, I doubt that.

He's still a bit young, and could benefit from the year in Hamilton that Tender didn't get. Plus, who do you send back down to make room for him? He'd have to be on one of the offensive lines (ie, line 1-3), and we are pretty well equipped there already.

Better for him to get the ice time of a first- or second- liner in Hamilton and improve so he's on top of his game to replace whoever we lose next off-season (and to cover for injuries), than to bring him up too soon.

I think if anyone, Webber has better odds, since he's like Streit, but with competent D skills on top of the O skills.

Higgins - koivu - Tanguay

Kovalev - Lang - Pacioretty

S.Kostitin - Plecanek - A. kostitin

Laraque - Lapierre - Latendresse

I somehow don't see Tender being a very good 4th liner in the Montreal game plan, where the 4th line are annoying defenders - that's not something for Tender to do.

The 4th is for people like Kosto, Stewart and the rest. I'd put them on there long before Tender.

Okay, now we're talking about the Canucks.

Sedin - Sedin - Bernier

Pyatt - Demitra - ____ (Wellwood, I guess?)

And from there it just becomes a jumbled mess of 3rd/4th liners and a couple of defensive forwards with some offensive upside who don't qualify for scoring duties.

Wait, you mean Vancouver has players not named Luongo *shocks*? :-p

Which he is now the "Official" Captain of the team, although he can't wear the C

As I understand it the only reason goalies can't wear the C anyways is because players complained that Bill Durnan wasted too much time in having to skate all the way to centre ice to argue with the officials. That's kind of stupid. Roberto Luongo is obviously the true leader of the Canucks, so he's really the only option (though everyone thought Willie Mitchell would get it).

I think this should be the Canucks' official line-up.

Of course, he can't REALLY play in every position, so you'd have to use substitute for him, but this way you acknowledge his true importance to the team...:-p

(Mind, I could say the same about NJ and Brodeur. Well, except the part where they didn't name Brodeur captain)

2 years ago the NJ Devils wanted Brodeur to become the Official Capitain of the team but the league refused.

Do I detect a tinge of jealousy? Don't hate us just because we have the world's #1 netminder. :p

*cough* *cough* the best Italian descendant netminder in the world. We have the best overall, Carey Price.

XD

Call me back when your farm team is made up in great part of NHL-level players because you have so many more NHL-level players in the main club that there's no room for them all :-p

(Now, now, Raisin. Don't exaggerate - Price isn't #1. Yet.)

...

WHAT????

leafs... WON? against the RED WINGS?

btw, 2-2 avs/cubs bears bruins, and im cheering on the vancouver canucks at least 9 games this year. for jeps, this is truly an accomplishment (someone tell iggy.)

EDIT:...

if you cant STOP ANYTHING, even with an AMAZING OFFENSE, how can we win?

and 6-0. for the canucks. and im HAPPY.

Oh boy, I wonder where all the people who say Canucks can't score are now...

Let's go Vancouver!

The Flames took a whooping last night that is for sure. I am willing to take that back, but one game does not make a season. Right?

:(

IDK, one game is looking to make the avs season

great offense + horrible goaltending = elite defense or bust.

No, one game doesn't make a season, but I think that most of the horrible scenarios were put to rest last night. Sedins and Bernier worked well together, Pyatt proved to be useful and played better than he had all last season, and the checking line antagonized the Flames to no end.

Oh, and Canucks actually stuck up for one another! Way to go! Bigger, grittier, stronger than last year. I don't know why everyone expects this team to do terrible.

Oh, and as far as me being an American... I'm a Russian living in Seattle, so I kinda adopted the Canucks as the hockey team that I cheer for a few years back and stuck with them.

I dunno if I would jump to the conclusion that the scoring question has been put to rest, it sure has given skeptics, myself included, time to take a second look. Let's agree to review how things stand say in 15 games or so.

The Nucks beat Calgary with solid D and goaltending last night, more than overwhelming offense. Plus, God knows where the Calgary backcheck was in the 2nd and 3rd...or where the Flames were.
