(no point really in pre-season thread)

So the pre-season has started with Tampa beating Pittsburgh. Thoughts? I personally didn't see the game but apparently it was quite close. Senators also beat the Rangers?

Jon Sim.

All you need to know about pre-season to know it doesn't matter.

Let's go bruins!

Is this the year? :mischief:

Only goal for this year: beat Montreal in head-to-head!

Dream on :-p.

I'm terribad at being Canadian. :(

You lost to Montreal 4 times last year, at the most crucial time :-p

(Plus eight not-so-crucial times)

Those 8 were the ones that permitted us to finish on top of the east.

So they were pretty crucial, hehe we won the east at the expense of the bruins!!!!!!!!
:deadhorse:

It'll be real nice to see the home and home games between the Canadian teams again this year. As well as a proper Hockey Day in Canada. I think the Flames, Habs, Sens, and Oil have the best shot at the post season going in.

Don't forget the Canucks, I see them above the Flames personally though not by much.

They're gonna need some help up front to get in, IMO. On the back end they probably have one of the best in the league, and I don't see the injury bug biting again.

NW division can wind up with anyone winning it. and ALL the teams will get injured, this is a rough division.
Central will be won by Detroit. :puke: Chicago looks really good this year, and St Louis doesnt look bad either. Nashville...could fluke into the 8th seed, but i doubt it.
Pacific will be Sharks, Stars, and Ducks once again.

SE should be clear washington, though this year all the teams look improved.
Atlantic should belong to the penguins for this season only. this is their do-or-die year, because they cant keep everyone they have for long. islanders look dead. flyers and rangers look good, and devils are same as always.
NE...anything* could happen (*except the leafs will be 5th before the stretch, playing their ***es off for the last 20 games, missing the playoffs and losing a top draftpick), but i pick M-town for the title, with boston looking good too.

Not really. I'm sick of people recycling the myth that the Canucks are too low scoring a team to make the playoffs. Plenty of low scoring teams (ie. 2003 New Jersey Devils) have made the playoffs, or even won the Stanley Cup.

Luongo had a rough year because his baby was being born clear on the other side of the continent, and even after returning from the birthing he still wasn't with them often. He doesn't have that distraction as both Gina and baby Luongo now live permanently in Vancouver. Now all the defence has to do is avoid losing 172 man-games to injury like they did last year, and the offence just has to do roughly the same job they did last year, and the Canucks are a lock to make the playoffs.

My thoughts exactly. You also have to remember that we almost made the playoffs last year anyway, just some bad luck at the end of the year kept us out, IMO.

This is the NW division, anything can happen.

seriously, the canucks were 5th in the division, and 10 points out of 1st place. it is undoubtably the toughest division in the NHL, much as the Central and Southeast are the easiest

Dear Bruins fans,

Enjoy it. It will be a long time before it happens again ;-).

Seriously, though, best of luck to the teddy bears. You're our favorite rivals, after all, now that the Nordiques are gone. :-D

what a sad statement, eh? leafs greatest rivals are buffalo and ottawa, not montreal. oh how i long for the days of '67 when we were good and hated each other..
